I can't believe that this is something that's out there completely for free. The game looks beautiful, the level design is really cool in how it keeps evolving with the abilities you unlock, and the boss fights were memorable. I didn't enjoy the regular enemy combat that much, but since it's a small part of the game that didn't affect my overall very positive experience with this game! Definitely going to be checking out whatever else this developer does in the future
Pretty compelling. My one complaint is that the jumping puzzles with those glowing orbs were a bit too finnicky, but otherwise it was a nice romp.

"The Doors That Led to Nowhere" is a weird and pointless attempt to make an "old school RPG" from someone who presumably never saw or played an old school RPG before. This has nothing to do with retro gaming, it's just an incredibly badly made first person brawler with light RPG elements, that could perhaps have been better titled "The Steam Direct Publication That Led to Nowhere". What do you do in the game? Some of the worst first person brawling I've ever seen, across some of the worst looking environments I've ever seen, against some of the worst monster assets I've ever seen. Plus a bit of platforming. Also badly done. The graphics here are particularly awful, a blend of godawfully bad pixelcrap, low poly rubbish, and some vague attempts to rip off Minecraft, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It doesn't look authentic, with all the mismatched styles from different eras... leaving us scratching our heads as to why any of this happened at all. Bad visuals are a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This isn't free, the developer has their hand out for a $3 soundtrack donation. Given how bad the soundtrack is, the developer should be paying people to suffer through listening to it. Regardless, not free, it's beggarware. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? This is a hard pass. There's no immediate financial commitment, but there are thousands of more compelling games on the platform that will give you a lot more enjoyment for your time.
i had doubts when i started playing this game, but to be honest this is one of the best free to play games ever. i would recommend to anyone to play it. 10/10
Que buen juego!! De veras que si que buen juego. Solo falto que también este en español.
Great little indie game, have about 7 hours and think I'm almost done. A fun story and really challenging but fun gameplay, def recommend
Doors is a sweet game that scratches the puzzle/exploration itch while also bringing rewarding platforming and challenging combat to the table. I've been playing on Steam Deck which has been great. The art work is incredible, and the story is engaging, sad, and feels meaningful. You find yourself really feeling like you're stuck in an alternate reality. Twists and turns to the plot keep the story interesting and engaging. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates N64 era graphics, a mixture of 2D and 3D character models, challenging combat, and mysterious dimensions. Developer is super responsive to feedback on discord, and I can't wait to try out his next release!
Before I get a bunch of people telling me I have a skill issue or that I need to "get gud", I know I suck at video games. Anyway, the fighting is boring, the platforming sucks, the "story" isn't good, the blink ability is unintuitive, and the graphics make me want to tear my eyes out. I usually say at least some good things in my reviews, but this game has zero good things about it.
honestly, a very enjoyable and nice experience, very simple but captivating. exploring and fighting bosses is so much fun and it gets more and more interesting as mechanics add up. cant believe such a great game is free
