I don't understand how this can be free. Surely it must have cost a lot to make? Anyway, it's a 15 minute experience where you get to make a single decision and then shoot some drones. I can't imagine anyone playing it twice as there's a lot of talking. It's still an experience I'd definitely recommend, as long as it's free.
If an application can consistently drop frames on a rig that Valve rates as an 11 for VR Readiness, it probably needs a bit more technical work. That said, it's free.
Short and sweet, this beautifully detailed experience makes good use of a larger 2.5m x 2.5m play area. I was surprised how present and vivid the actors seemed. I hope to see more like this. Would definitely recommend for all ages of VR enthusiasts.

If you're a fan of the Divergent series you should probably give this a try, otherwise, just pass it by.
Pros:

It's free
If you're a fan of the series I'm sure it's really cool to be in that universe.
Same voice actors as the movies.
The shooting is fun.
When talking to a character, they will actually look at you.

Neutral:

It's a quick experience, which would make it good for demoing the Vive (assuming you don't have issues). However, it also leaves more to be desired.
While characters do look at you while reciting dialog, outside of that they don't interact at all. Like if you get right up in someones face they don't care at all and just continue on their scripted animations.

Cons:

I had lots of edge artifacts (Like when you play a game with no anti-aliasing on).
[strike]FPS was also an issue, any moving objects seemed to lag about every 3 seconds or so.[/strike]
Vive controllers were assigned to the wrong hands. I checked the home screen, and I did have them in the correct hands. I also tried the game three different time. It happened every time. Also after I closed the game and launched a different game the controllers were in the correct hand.
Poor animation transitions. It's a bit immersion breaking when a character suddenly goes rigid, then goes into it's next animation.
[strike]On two different runthroughs I had black screen crashes where I had to restart my computer. No other VR experience has done this to me.[/strike]
For what it is I can't harp on it too much. It's a free, quick experience to show off the Vives capabilites. Bonus if they're a fan. But I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it. Rig: Intel Core i7-5930K, 32GB DDR4 2800, (x2) EVGA GTX 980 SC (one dedicated to PhysX), 500GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD, Win 10. Update: After disabling SLI and setting my secondary card to only PhysX my screen and object jitter completely went away. No black screens since the switch. Edge artifacts are still present however (no tweakable AA settings that I could found), and in-game hands are still flipped sometimes too. Even after I now have it running properly I'm still not going to recommend it. I will admit that I'm much closer to neutral on it now. However, I'm still sticking by that unless you're a fan, it isn't a "must play" kind of experience.
I played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers and had zero issues. You do need roomscale setup. The visuals I thought were very nice. This "demo" / "ad" had more story than most VR titles. It's actually just like being cast as a non-speaking but central role in a movie. The visuals were very nice. The sounds quality also was good, for the most part. I thought the experience was of decent length as well (especially for free). The only bad parts were that interactions were very basic and limited. They used roomscale so that you can walk over and press a button. Seriously, that's the only reason. You press the button twice. You can't touch the actors but they can walk through you. The turret sequence (you're shooting at some drones), is pretty bad. Doesn't feel like you're aiming at anything. The sound is off here, doesn't feel like you're really shooting anything. It's honestly pretty boring instead of being an epic shootout protecting your squad. Rating 7/10 the narrative and you being in the middle of it really make this worth the download
my favorite part was getting super close to Four. And walking through the other characters and seeing their insides. Other than that.... this was lame.
I can see why it is free. Although conceptually I think this micro game is very promising, it does suffer from phenomenally low frame rate issues. Not that I have many VR games so far, but to encounted minutes of consistent glitches of up to 1 second hickups would be reason enough to immediately return the game. Having said this, I would be very happy to buy the game if I can run it at a playable rate on my GeForce 970 card.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant VR is a VR experience for the movie The Divergent Series: Allegiant. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. It is a 15 minute interactive movie and VR experience. I have watched the 3 movies recently, so i thought the skins, sound and modelling looked good enough. You have a drone shooting sequence that looks cool and keeps you busy. There are moments where you have some interaction with an object to move the plot along, including a choice that affects the story. Try it for a quick VR experience. Fans of the movies and the books might like it better.
