Somewhere under this mess a great game lives. Oh man, I want to like this game. But the controls are terrible. It is much easier to navigate with the keyboard than with the controller. The camera is fixed like in a PS2 game. One time near a locomotive I walked out from the view angle and I needed random inputs to get myself back. Tutorial messages are always delayed, so I didn't know what I was doing in my first fight and why wolves were in the city. Oh, and the heads. What with the heads? They never look where they should. This game isn't worth 48€. Maybe 20 and discounted to 10. It is a mess, but I'm rooting for devs to fix it. I will come back later to see if it happened Update: I change my rating because devs fix many of the bugs that I listed super fast, like in 3 days or so. Go team! I'll came back for a new review again after few more patch.
For reference these are my specs Intel Core i9-14900KF 32 threads - 6 GHz Graphics Card: GPU ManufacturerNVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB VRAM Memory: 64 GB RAM Edit after almost making it to the end and running into another game breaking bug. So I'm on the final boss who has regenerating life no matter how many times i hit it, I figured it was bugged so i go to reload a save. I made 3 saves just in case in different areas due to issue with saves. well now when i load into a save to try again I am in the air in space not even close to where i was suppose to be. on one of the saves it seems to have reset all the way back to where you enter a pink travel point to fight on an alien ship. i can't even see that gate anymore. I had saved it right before entering the last planet where you need 50 relics. game breaking now as i can't complete the game without a restart >< I know these developers are at least working on this but you can't charge the price you are asking for a poorly executed and unfinished game. I paid 50% off still way too much. 8.99 if you can actually complete it. good luck with that. so many bugs where to even start. You have form to complete for bugs but come on. who tests your games? anyone? Just a few. from extremely poor lighting, to clipping through the environment, music too loud at times can't hear the voice overs(which are not bad), your flashlights lasts a whole 30 some seconds per battery. if they can invent space travel you think they could invent a better flashlight, aim is off on your guns, easy to kill except the last boss of course. You have one of the relics in the blue mushroom forest (blue moon?) that you can't get to due to it not allowing your guy in fixed or non fixed camera reach that area. Sometimes the enemies respawn. After the alien ship(pink port) I killed that mini boss in that room and step out to be killed by a red alien that i already killed, i also couldn't kill him. Sometimes the ports would disappear and you had to reload the game to see them again. IO travel port often went missing. original review never played the original. stuck at a save location in my room. my feet are in the floor upon save, chariot is invisible but i can talk to them which they say they are to rusty, whatever it is followed me around the ship, i was exploring before going to mission control but even though i spoke to this chariot it didn't let me in mission control to continue. unable to move now as i am stuck at that save point and would have to restart the game. not a chance. greatly over priced even though i got it at least half off. would have been okay if I had not gotten stuck. even though you can change the camera to not fixed still what a pain. don't waste your money like i just did.
The Dawning Clocks of Time Remake from Spacefarer Games Ltd. is an ambitious reworking of an earlier indie project that attempts to broaden its identity into a cinematic, genre-blending sci-fi adventure. Rather than simply improving visuals or polishing mechanics, the remake significantly reshapes the original experience, combining elements of third-person shooting, exploration, and narrative-driven progression into a single package. The result is a game that feels expansive in scope and intent, even if that ambition occasionally leads to uneven execution. At the center of the experience is a story built around Sven Chandra, a bounty hunter caught in a conflict that spans planets, timelines, and existential threats. The narrative leans heavily into science fiction concepts, including time manipulation, powerful artifacts, and the looming destruction of celestial bodies. It aims to tell a large-scale story with personal stakes, blending character-driven moments with broader cosmic events. While the story is rich in ideas, it can sometimes feel dense, introducing concepts quickly and expecting the player to keep up with its shifting focus. For those willing to engage with it, however, it offers a layered and often intriguing narrative that unfolds across multiple settings. Gameplay reflects the game’s hybrid nature, combining combat with exploration and light survival elements. Players engage in third-person shooting sequences, using a mix of ranged and close-combat options while navigating environments that range from linear mission areas to more open spaces. The combat system includes a degree of unpredictability, encouraging players to adapt rather than rely on a single approach. While this adds variety, it can also make encounters feel inconsistent, particularly when the pacing shifts abruptly between action and exploration. Exploration is a major component of the experience, with the game presenting a variety of environments that reinforce its interplanetary setting. Moving between different locations helps convey the scale of the story, giving players the sense that they are part of a much larger universe. Optional objectives and side activities are scattered throughout, providing additional context and opportunities for engagement. However, not all of these elements feel equally developed, and some can come across as extensions of the main gameplay loop rather than fully distinct experiences. Presentation is one of the game’s most notable features, with a strong emphasis on cinematic storytelling. Voice acting, scripted sequences, and a dramatic soundtrack contribute to a sense of scale that aligns with the narrative’s ambitions. The use of both fixed and free camera perspectives adds a stylistic layer, occasionally enhancing dramatic moments but also creating inconsistency in how the game is experienced moment to moment. This blend of old and new design choices reflects the game’s roots while attempting to modernize its approach. Visually, the remake improves upon the original with higher-resolution assets and more detailed environments, though it still carries traces of its earlier design. The result is a presentation that feels somewhere between modern and retro, which can be appealing for players who appreciate its origins but less so for those expecting cutting-edge visuals. Despite this, the environments are varied enough to maintain interest, and the overall aesthetic supports the game’s tone. The pacing alternates between slower narrative segments and more intense gameplay sections, creating a rhythm that can be engaging when balanced well. At times, however, this balance falters, with certain sections feeling prolonged while others move too quickly to fully develop their ideas. The inclusion of the original version alongside the remake adds value, offering players a chance to compare both interpretations and appreciate how the project has evolved. The game’s biggest challenge lies in how its systems come together. While each individual element has merit, they do not always integrate seamlessly. Combat, exploration, and storytelling can feel disconnected at times, resulting in an experience that is more experimental than cohesive. This can make it difficult to fully engage with the game on a mechanical level, even as its narrative and ambition continue to draw interest. Despite these shortcomings, The Dawning Clocks of Time Remake stands out for its willingness to take risks. It does not conform to a single genre or design philosophy, instead attempting to create something broader and more expressive. This approach may not appeal to everyone, particularly those looking for a more focused or refined experience, but it offers something distinctive for players who appreciate unconventional design. In the end, it is a game defined by its ambition. It delivers a wide-ranging sci-fi narrative supported by varied gameplay systems, creating moments that can be memorable even when they are not perfectly executed. While it may struggle with consistency and cohesion, it succeeds in offering a unique experience that reflects a clear creative vision. Rating: 7/10
Techniczne kupsko. Kamera i sterowanie to jakiś koszmarny dramat. Do tego coś się zawiesiło i przestała gra reagować już w pierwszej lokacji. Omijać to polecam.
