At the close of the Iraq War, Special Forces hunting for weapons of mass destruction unearth something far deadlier – a buried Sumerian temple containing a nest of unearthly creatures. To survive the night below, they must forge a brotherhood with their enemies from the world above.

This was a really fun game, way better than directive 8020.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Very good game with a good implemetation and interesting plot and choices. Runs smoothly. I think this is the best one from the dark series so far.
10/10
Finding WMDs Simulator
Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is the third of the Dark Pictures game, and the 2nd I played. For me, it is vastly superior to Man of Medan in the quality of its writing, the story, the characters, the monster design, and environment. Basically, this time instead of being on a boat, you follow a group of "Special Forces" into an ancient Sumerian Temple to find WMDs or something. Make W. proud. To start off, this is a multi-faceted story, unlike the first. You can play as both the special forces and an Iraqi, seeing both sides on how the events play out. The characters have nuances and stakes this time. There's even DRAMA (although a bit forced, it's also super funny at one point where a guy can just die and you can tell a character to just forget about him in an instant). But let's not forget the star of the show: the environment. Where the first was gray/blue everywhere and a boring rusty ship, this is a dug out temple, that gradually grows as you explore it more. I don't want to spoil it too much, but there's some unexpected environments, let's just say that. There's also actual monsters this time! They're a bit generic-looking, but they're fun enough. They fit the game's narrative and structure basically, as it is condensed into a ~6 hour format. They also add extra nuance to the narrative because people can get infected again, like in the Quarry, and you have to decide what to do with them. This isn't to say everything is great, though. There were multiple parts where there were dependencies on certain characters based on certain choices, resulting in other characters sitting around (if playing co-op). This wasn't an issue in MOM, which is unfortunate. The relationship/character mechanic still doesn't seem fixed and seems arbitrary? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. There's also no innovation on the QTEs. In fact, one section I played had like four consecutive "breathing" QTEs in a row. I originally praised in in my MOM review, now it's getting old. Some choices also feel forced upon you, where control is taken away from you, most notably in certain combat sections. I understand "why" the game would do this, but for $10 more than MOM, they should have more choices available to the player.
Pros:

A better, more refined story with memorable moments and characters.
Actual monsters this time. Not only actual monsters, but with a somewhat unique twist to them that was unexpected.
Lots of fun QTEs. This game is more combat-oriented than the first game if you're into that.
There is a split narrative between the Special Forces and an Iraqi soldier. This was a very interesting approach, especially since the co-op partner will often take the role of the Iraqi soldier, but the Special Forces themselves (outside of player intervention) will not like him.
Not a drop of water in sight.

Cons:

There are some strange choices that seem unfair? While most of the ones in MOM were like "whatever", there's two in particular here that I can point out as "these shouldn't be here" (or at least there should be leeway). I even knew about one beforehand because of discourse online.
Again, this game is hurt by the weird relationship mechanics. It tries to insert romance drama, but it's irrelevant and entirely reliant on player choice, not character feeling.
There's 2-3 minor characters that come with you when you enter the game. They are overwhelmingly irrelevant and actually detrimental to your story if you try to help them in any way. While I find this funny, it shouldn't be this way. This game is about choices.
Every monster is the same. There's literally 0 variety in any of them, even at the end when it might be implied there is. This is a really missed opportunity.
Inconsistent mechanics with hurting monsters (game kind of just decides when they die and when they don't). Also, you have like infinite ammo?
Verdict: 7.5/10
