The Dark Inside Me - Chapter II

Others summarise this well. It is really hard (well for me at least). It is worth buying, but you should be aware some of the Point and Click parts are pretty near impossible without cheating a little. Huge credit to the developer. Well done.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up on so many levels I don't even know where to start from, both story and gameplay-wise. Nonetheless, it has a very specific charm, and the fact that only one person is working on it makes me want to support him. Chapter 3 please!

Game is broken for me. Huge game-breaking bug right at the beginning. Base gameplay is pretty simplistic, reminiscent of '90's titles such as phantasmagoria. I pretty much knew going in what to expect in regard to mechanics. So imagine my exasperation after walking in circles in the forest for like an hour with no way to progress and I started looking for threads on how to do certain things. I knew what I was supposed to do, getting gas etc. But I was reading about a motorcycle, an actual gas can, and a flashlight. I hadn't seen anything like any of those items so I looked up a video walkthrough. First couple minutes of the video, the guy walking in a certain direction right after you leave the police car sends him to a completely different place than in my game. Near as I can tell from the layout where he goes in the video, the transition to the screen containing the motorcycle is actually sending me to the part of the map near the campsite just east of a locked gate. ------c---- ---o-v-o-g--x ------q------z This is the easiest way to explain what happens. C is where you start the game just under the cop car. V is the next screen with 3 other directions. East from V get you to a locked gate, ok fine. West from V goes nowhere, dead end. Now Q, south from V, the screen that has the motorcycle and paths to multiple other spots, effectively doesn't exist because going south from V sends me to Z instead of Q. There's no way to get back to Q from Z either, because trying to walk west from Z just makes my character glitch and not actually go anywhere. A key location right at the start of the game effectively doesn't exist. This is quite literally unplayable, and likely going to cause a great deal of frustration for anyone who doesn't realize what's happening.

5/10... It's good but missing the charm of chapter 1 MAIN PROS Plenty to explore as the game is bigger then the last, the puzzles are still tricky and fun without to much grind. Some nicely designed environments with good sound, as I sad before about chapter one the voice acting could be a lot worse ;) More sexual content [i](but don't get excited yet)[/i] including one optional scene for the player. Some minor bugs and glitches but overall plays really well. MAIN CONS Sexual content is not a big selling point for this game, so don't buy it on that merit as it's just a couple of NPC's doing stuff within your exploration area, some boobs, some bums and one obscured scene. Unfortunately Chapter 2 has moved away from the intelligent and disturbing, yet thought provoking shock horror of chapter one. To the mundane and unimaginative main stream gore horror which is such a shame! I hope the Dev does a 180 on that artistic choice. And lastly the story is still incoherent, it explains none of the events in chapter one and by the end you still have no idea why anything is happening. NOTE Firstly great job on the Cult Leader scene, best part of the game by far. I still believe this is a great concept and with better writing, fleshing out some of the characters and a more imaginative horror style it could be amazing. Keep up the good work.

the voice acting is funny

I dont know if i should laugh or cry with this title. Now granted,i dont mind horror combined with nudity,as long as it is done right,and with creativity. It seems like this main developer and narrator had a urge to take a massive dump throughout the game. His "acting voice" started bothering me after awhile,but hey i let him slide with that voice for being an indie 1 man developer. The models/characters looks desent for such a low budget game,and the original idea behind this horro game is promising. It is somewhat creepy but not too much,i found it hysterical to be honest. The ongoing typos in the subtitles,the words chosen for certain dialogues,and wonky movement made me realize this must have been a rushed project. The typos are certainly easy to "look up and adjust",if the language barrier is very much present.... Little things that could have made this game better,sadly tips this over in a "not recommended" category for me. But if you find this on a massive discount sale,and you are curious like i was,well sure....give it a go. I just feel like this was developed by a very young,immatured boy/man. Every female character being portraied as objects and not individuals,reminds me of thoose trashy visual sex novels on steam. And the main character of course has "sexually related" conversations with just about anyone..... Like i said,the storyline had good potential and at times you get grossed out/creeped out,but its ruined by the mind of someone really immatured. But i hope they grow from this experience as the game seems to open for a sequel,and that they create something better next time. I know the struggles from using your own voice correctly from working in a radio,and i just couldnt break away from my own nervousness.....voice got monoton nomatter how hard you tried to be better. But with practice you learn to loosen up. I get it,low budget....you do some of the voice acting yourself,and get friends from irl or online to assist you. I hope the narrating and voice acting improves in the future,with all that said. Also,erotic/sensual/sexual horror stories are completely okay in my book,just be creative and dont completely overdo it. Im gonna mention an example that will be a spoiler much longer down here,so if you wont get spoiled,just stop reading here. SPOILER ALERT: Like "John`s mom" being nailed by the dinner table,who looks at theyr own mom that way,while they are in agonising pain? I know horror is supposed to gross you out/creep you out and scare you,but it all just came off in a really immatured,overdone way. A spoiler tip: Yes,you can actually save Lucy. 6 hours of this was more then enough for me,wont be picking this up again. At least i dont think so,unless i want to record a better playthrough then the few i have seen out there.

You know what? I've flipped on this series. When I reviewed the first one, I gave it a "not recommended" because it was a terrible game. That remains true, and this one is also a terrible game, with all the same problems: gibberish script, bad voice-acting, pixel-hunting all over the place--and this one manages to be even worse, by starting off in a forest labyrinth. This one manages to push past "just bad" into "transcendently awful," to the point where it's worth experiencing. Play with a walkthrough in hand, because the horrible pixel-hunting still makes it no fun to try and figure out yourself. But the gibberish story and bizarre cutscenes and setpieces are just so over the top that overall, it's very worth exploring this train-wreck of a game.
