If you are looking through the VR free-to-play tags, The Beanstalk VR experience does not hold up in 2022. Just skip it. The Beanstalk a short 5-10 minute experience which tells a fairy tale story based off Jack and the Beanstalk. As a first student project, it's a GREAT project to use on a resume to get a job but never something you'd release as a commercial project. If I made this as a first class VR project, I'd be EXTREMELY proud of it. They did a great job on the project for 2017. If you're a consumer and want to know why I don't recommend it, here is why: The majority of the experience is only listening/waiting not interacting. You pull on a tabs of story boards to progress the experience, grab a few beans and toss them in the dirt, climb up a small portion of the beanstalk and then touch a harp. That's the The Beanstalk.
Played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I can recommend this game, but you do need a roomscale setup. That's because you'll have to touch objects at a distance, even though you can teleport in some areas, you can't in others. You'll also have to pick up stuff up from the ground. If you're not calibrated correctly, you won't be able to pick them up. So this is basically a cinematic/story VR experience of the classic Jack & the Beanstalk fairy tale. It is exactly the same story, but in VR. The visuals are not the best, but they're okay. It's a nice artistic style at least, especially for a student project. It's nicely narrated also. I noticed some bugs, but just restarting the game fixed it for me. Because it's free, I can recommend the experience. And congratulations to the student devs! Good job.
Oyunun grafikleri çok hoş nedense benim acayip hoşuma gitti. Sırf VR denemek için bile oynanabilir.

The Beanstalk is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. It says it requires a lot of room but with the teleport you can get by with less play space. Has some stuff that you can pick and manipulate. Might be a short story. Try it and delete it.
"The Beanstalk" is a product from the Latter Day Saints BYU university in Provo, Utah. Today the students took on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale, with some low poly art assets (not entirely uncharming, in fairness), and bolted it onto a "VR Experience", making this less of a game and more of a VR demo... and ultimately we have to once more ask the question, "What's in it for us?"... yes, there's not much here for gamers, the point of the exercise is to make it feel like the students passed the course or something. I guess the first thing they should be teaching game development students is "the gamer is more important than you are". The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
I could see this being a good game to introduce a young person to VR. The actual climbing part was fairly intense....but the narrative getting there was like sitting through daycare storytime. Still worth it just for the beanstalk climb, but then probably goes into the 'uninstall files'. * GenX gamer....signing off...
