The Backrooms: Liminal Reality

Very poor effort was put into this game. As I waited even 5 months after release and it is still in this state is sad. They will never fix the problems it has. A lot of texture issues, places that you can just noclip and fall through the map. The only good thing about it is the vibe it gives in the beginning, I really wish this game could have been good, I cannot say about the rest cause I did not get that for before I requested a refund. I already knew it was going more downhill after the issues I saw directly from the start.

Decent backrooms game. No entities, not really even any jump scares. One of the few slow-paced backrooms exploration games on Steam, and it's worth checking out if that's what you're into. Maybe not the best value for the price relative to some of the better games from this genre, but definitely worth grabbing on sale. I think my biggest complaints are no ability to run, and this is quite a resource hog in the pool level. But the settings can be tuned a bit to fix the latter. (Edit: The pool thing was an issue on my end. I've since been using better hardware and have had no problems.)

If im being honest this is not worth 8 dollars ON SALE, it should be around 1-5, many glitches VERY SHORT LEVELS and more

Also normalerweise finde ich solche surrealen Spiele klasse, da sie eine andere Welt zeigen. Hier kann man nichts tun um irgendwie, irgendwo einzugreifen - gar nichts! Man findet zwar diverse Gegenstände, die man auch einsammelt, aber bisher brauchte ich sie nicht. Und dieser schreckliche Sound, dieses Brummen, Surren ging mir ganz schön auf den Sack! Leider gibt es keine Möglichkeit dies einzustellen. Auch die Gehgeräusche sind immer die gleichen, egal welcher Untergrund, auf den der Protagonist gerade geht. Ob Wiese, Steinboden oder im Wasser, also da sind Anpassungen Pflicht! Was die Graphik macht, naja wie soll ich es sagen - wenn man seitlich kuckt dann verändern sich die Ränder mit einem rot/blauen Rand, sofern dort etwas steht. Und auch sonst ist es nicht wirklich überragend. Manchmal kommt es vor, das eine Art Doppelung des Bildes in Form eines horizontalen Streifen durch das Bild läuft, ist das Extra?? Habe einen 7er PC mit einer guten Graphikkarte, aber sowas.... geht gar nicht! Dadurch wird einem aber auch bewusst, wie das diese Art von Spiel die Wahrnehmung beeinflusst, es eher ruhig anzugehen. Persönlich ging es mir - in dem "Kanal" sage ich mal, nicht schnell genug. Man ist gewohnt, und das ist in jeder Simulation so, das es eben schneller geht. Und rennen... das ist hier nicht!! Hier geht es eben eher langsamer ab. Ein interessantes Game, dennoch irgendwie nicht meins! Werde es vielleicht noch einmal spielen, da ich nicht alle möglichen Wege abgegangen bin. Vielleicht habe ich aber auch was übersehen, das dieses Spiel tatsächlich knapp 10,00 € wert sein soll. Mal sehen... zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt geht der Daumen eher runter. Schade!! Leider habe ich auch im 2. Durchgang nicht viel Neues über dieses Spiel erfahren, außer das ich noch einen Gegenstand mehr gefunden habe. Tja, das war es wohl! 10,00 € für nichts! So können Entwickler auch zu etwas kommen....

Positives: literally 3 interesting levels- the rest are not super great. Some interesting game mechanics. Good level variety. Negatives: bad textures, glitchy, areas where you fall through the map, one level has reduced walkspeed (and it is the longest level), and the end has no end. No cutscene no credits, nothing. Worst level 0 I have ever seen. Not even worth $2.99. If it were free I would still want my money back. Overall I would say this game has some good ideas but poor implementation. For example finding an object to open up other areas of the game so that makes it slightly more interesting but it has so many bugs it is not worth it. It is basically an unfinished game released as a finished one. Don't waste your money! Rating: 3/10.
