Reviews
The game is really so good and the sound effects and horror are great. Especially the movie reference in cassette and the radio song is unexpected. Good horror experience game.
Preface: I see people from the Tamil community happy seeing something come out from a team having their representation. My review of the game aside, im all for people getting their bag and eating. So on a foundational level Do your thing, from a product level still going to give my two cents but don't let that stop people from trying. Review: A heavy jump scare focused game that, isn't sure how to keep the little momentum it has at the start. And quickly becomes another hastily produced, and tacked together release. This game over relies on jump scares that it ruins it's own theme. If this is somehow your first horror game I guess the novelty will be fresh to you...But if you are versed with these kinds of games, this does nothing to stand out and the cheapness that these kinds of games are known for....really stands out. I agree with other people that the "puzzles" are basic as hell...I am not sure what people are smoking as if this doe anything special in that regard. But the bugs that make the game feel cheap are just not ignorable. But right away the first level is on rails as hell and the cheap jump scares begin. This is the case where less is more, there is nothing wrong with Jump scares. This is not a jump scare bashing session. But using them effectively is the line between added sensation or devaluing your own product... The jump scares also repeat in the exact same manner....so any repeat play or restarting from doing a new session...the game has already lost 90% of its shock factor, since you already know where the base scares will be. So now the number of jump scares become annoying forced moments you just stop moving...while you wait for the game to stop shouting at you....some of them you can move and in those cases I just don't even bother looking anymore and keep going forward. Spoilers ahead, only read if you feel you already get the vibe Im going with here and want examples of how buggy this whole thing is. So right off the bat in the first level, chucky the doll is in a bathtub. I thought to myself okay that is cool, lets see what they do here. Well his first real jump scare (because of course), you can easily miss him because he's too short...so unless you are looking down. I wasn't even aware he came after me. It wasn't until my third run I saw him actually lunge at me....but that is the other part, he has no time on screen, he is gone in basically a blink. And that sums up another issue with the scares....there is no time to let them sink in...you go from one jump scare to the next and they are all scripted for the majority....to include chucky, right before you jump through the next level door, chucky appears one last time but by this point you clearly know a jump scare is coming. It just happens to be chucky....and again he runs so fast and disappears so quickly you can easily miss him here as well.... The next stage....this is where the bugs level up...this is where we see what seems like a enemy. At first you just see these scripted moments where you see it walking around....and boy do they drop the ball on the first "attack"....Its walking down a hallway. The event feels so scripted I decided lets see what happens if I just go up to it....nothing....literally nothing. it simply clips with you for a second then just disappears.....and i decided to do that because it just felt so on rails, that i basically predicted it would not kill me...and I was right..... But it gets better, down that same hallway at the end of the hall the monster comes "running" at you and this presents two massive problems....magical I know. The first is that the enemy is defeated by strafing left....literally just move left or right out of the path and thats it...I thought this was the start of a chase scene but nope....just strafe left....The 2nd issue is if you let it grab you there is no kill animation...not even a sound if I remember correctly....the menu just pops up.....Let me explain why this kills the tension.....when I ran the first time thinking it was the start of a chase sequence, I died...and I knew that because the game felt like I hit the pause button. Didn't play up my death or make me feel fear it was coming.....the game just abrutply stops. Not even a game over screen...just a options menu. I can keep going but this game right away just is not it chief. Even at $5 dollars I don't think it is really worth it. Unless you find humor in finding glaring flaws in things and just analyzing things as they are. From that perspective I guess that's something. But if you are looking for a game to scratch that horror itch, I recommend looking else where.
