About
Terraforming Titans is an incremental colony builder where the objective is to terraform multiple worlds with a moderate focus on realism and a simulated climate model.
Play as a Terraforming AI. Your mission is crystal clear: terraform Mars, ensure the safety of all colonists and maintain your own integrity. What could possibly go wrong?
It turns out a lot can indeed go wrong with such a simple mission. The directives will evolve, you will grow and what begins as initially one terraform will become many.
The Milky Way contains hundreds of billions of stars, ten billion white dwarfs and a hundred million black holes. For a Terraforming AI like you, this is nothing but more resources. Harness their energy and harvest their mass so you can build greater and greater worlds to terraform. Can humanity become a Kardashev III civilization?
This game features at least one hundred hours of varied content. Each story world presents unique challenges and will unlock more features to keep the gameplay fresh. As you progress so does human science, providing you with powerful future breakthroughs to boost your terraforming efforts even further.
Terraform Mars and many other worlds across the galaxy.
Manage climate, atmosphere, water, temperature, energy, and habitability.
Unlock research, automation, and increasingly powerful terraforming tools.
Face unique story worlds with different constraints and challenges.
Adjust difficulty, simulation coefficients, and time controls to play at your own pace.
Grow from a single planetary project into a Kardashev-III-scale civilization.
Experience at least 100 hours of varied content.

I've played this game on the web version for a long time, and have a lot of time in it. It's a great game, and does a wonderful job of giving the experience of HFY as you snowball. Every time you think "This is it," the game gives you something else. If you watch Isaac Arthur, or love sci-fi, this is a great game to live out some of the most insane fantasies (science?) they cook up. As far as incrementals go, it has several layers to it but only one real prestige, which is when you travel to another planet. It works all of this up slowly, so you never feel overwhelmed, and the discord is full of people more than happy to help out if you end up stuck. It has a light narrative that you can follow, but it doesn't get in your way. It's become probably my favorite incremental ever, and I've played a lot of incrementals. The physics simulation is pretty good, too, if that's something that interests you. For 5$ this game is an absolute steal. It is also, I would say, a fairly active incremental for the supermajority of the game. You unlock various automation features as you go along, but as you play the games moves faster and not slower, with the only exception being that idling can be used to progress megaprojects and the like, like building out more dyson swarms, megaconstruction yards, nuclear alchemy arrays, lifters (for stars and planets!) and a lot more. But know it can be very active going in, because that might not be your thing. Give it a shot? It's 5 bucks, and you've got two hours to make up your mind. These days that's not even the price of a coffee, almost the same as *singular* gallon of gas.
I've been playing this for a few months now, and it's great. It's grown and changed so much even since I started, and there's something enticing about the way it presents the climate model and ebb-and-flow of resources that feels truly tangible. There's a nice planet surface visualizer that gives you a window to your handiwork, and it's satisfying to turn a blasted hellscape into a room-temperature paradise of gently-lapping beaches and planet-scale cities. It asks a bit more of you than the usual "idle" game, which I find gives me the perfect amount of engagement without being overbearing. You unlock full automation much later, by which time your production has scaled to allow some truly absurd feats and megastructures. I'm excited to see where it goes next.
An excellent terraforming incremental based on (simplified) atmospheric models. It's really fun to see your rock slowly become a verdant planet supporting billions of people. For the price, highly recommend.
(Got 500h in web version before buying steam) TL;DR Amazing incremental game, and most detailed terraforming mechanics in possibly any game that exists The good: - Terraforming is basically a (simplified) physics simulation. From albedo to greenhouse gases, what you do with a planet will (mostly) realistically affect it. This is what truly sets this game apart from any other - Very good tutorial, and generally introduction of new game mechanics over time with good pacing - Has a story, that is fairly fast (for an incremental game anyway, still several dozen hours) to play through, but then a much longer post-game - Good QoL features. Sometimes they can be a little frustrating, but most of the time they work pretty well - In-game scripting you can use to automate basically everything (as you unlock it) - Good in-game infos for terraforming physics and other things you need to know - A lot of difficulty settings that allow you to customize your game - Very active dev, bugs usually get fixed extremely quickly The neutral: - Story is fine. A bit silly at times, but also good moments - Relatively complex game. If you're into it you'll love it, but if you want something simple or quick to play, you may want to look elsewhere - AI was used for coding among other things, but you honestly wouldn't know it without the disclosure. It's well thought-out, and absolutely no slop The bad: - Some minor bugs here and there, some typos. Nothing major - A few places could use some more information, like some technologies you unlock without knowing where to even look for what they're doing Overall, this is one of my favourite incremental games. If you like the terraforming theme it's an easy recommendation, and even otherwise you'll probably enjoy it since it's just a well made game. Highly recommend!
(Played the game countless hours in the web version and on the first steam playtest.) Terraforming Titans is one of the best idle games I've touched in recent years, even with a slow pace it managed to keep me in for its story. The story is well written and has moments that will occupy a space in your mind for quite a while. Gameplay let's you do a lot of customization thanks to later unlocks, like automation presets or scripting. You can really feel the power going up after getting on the later story worlds, a mix of knowledge of how things need to be done and sweet "prestige" upgrades. Difficulty isn't negligible, some story world "got em hands", and if story feels too easy you can give a try to challenges, and after all of that, if challenge worlds and story is too easy you can tweak difficulty settings yourself to give in to a nightmare experience (immigration pool... yay). Last point I am gonna write on this review, I worked in the game as one of the artists and playtesters and after all this time I can proudly say that now that the game is fully out, it was an amazing experience working with the developer. Cheers <3
I love this game, and it has been such a pleasant find since discovering it on itch.io
Finally a way to support this game! <3 Don't be put off by the AI disclosure, the dev actually put a lot of effort into the game. In the online version I have ~60 hours and it has been pretty fun the whole time. Every new terraformable planet brings new mechanics to spice things up so it will be a while before you get bored. If I had to compare to something I'd say it is similar to Evolve and Kittens Game a bit. The only bigger downside for me is the story which I didn't care much about, but the gameplay made up for it.
It's a good game! At 8 hours, I got my 5 dollars worth. There's a lot more to it, but honestly I found restarting again overwhelming, and it seems like the automation is going to become more scripting-heavy, so I'm not all that interested in continuing. But again, really enjoyed the time I already spent. I've been looking for a denser, more involved take on terraforming and this game has a great progression through terraforming Mars.
Played the itch version for months. Hands down the best long-form incremental that has dropped this year. Does it utilize AI in its code? Yup. Is it slop? Nope.
I have played a lot more in the beta. This game is not for everyone. A lot of effort is put in explaining what is happening, it is based on real physical quantities and processes. It is very hard to get soft lock though, there is almost always a way to continue. The gameplay is surprisingly deep and vast at the same time. There are refreshing mechanics that diverge from the normal incremental game significantly. For example, most building costs are fixed. I prefer this, it feels like a real progression. Without spoiling too much, if think you have completed the game after mars, you are in for a surprise. A lot of mechanics are intruduced that keeps the game fun. They are all based on real ideas with at least some theoretical backing. You feel like a god by the end. I also enjoyed the story. Overall, this is a must play if you enjoy science and incremental games!
