Terra Nil is an intricate environmental strategy game about transforming a barren wasteland into a thriving, balanced ecosystem. Bring life back to a lifeless world by purifying soil, cleaning oceans, planting trees, and reintroducing wildlife, then leave without a trace.

This game is very pretty, very serene, but WAYYYY to frustrating to play. It's not a strategy game, it's a PUZZLE game. You will get a random assortment of buildings to construct on each map, and your job is to figure out how the hell you'll be able to restore the environment with what you have in three phases. Reduce Toxic ground and restore grass, then establish 3 keystone biomes, then deconstruct your buildings and ensure the environment is ideal for the wildlife. PROBLEM. You will only be allowed a SINGULAR UNDO for a building until phase 3, so once something is place, you'll be unable to remove it until that phase. So unless you are keeping track of every single little nuanced detail (how many buildings a power building can attach to, how close power buildings can be together, how close ENVIRONMENT changers can be together, how much grass, un-watered land, and toxic land you have, what you're expected to place and what requirements it has, ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC), you can quickly land yourself in an un-salvageable corner, forcing you to restart...except this game has random generation, so unless you go out of your way to copy the Lat/Longitude coordinates that make up the see system, and enter them at the map screen to lock in a seed, you'll be restarting a whole new seed every time. And that's not even mentioning making ideal conditions for the wildlife in Phase 3, (which you will not be able to see UNTIL phase 3, after you've placed all the biomes). The amount of restarts I've had to do because I either ran out of building currency, had no more viable land to terraform, or just could not meet the ideal conditions of an animal...are too numerous to count. Game looks pretty, plays well, but the gameplay is INSUFFERABLE.

Played since the demo. Relaxing, good music, but the price is a bit high for what it is.
I was expecting a chill game. It seemed too hard for a chill game. The end phase of the level was highly dependent on animals that you had no control over moving into your eco-system, which made it feel a little backwards.
I absolutely adore this game both in style and in the concept. (Restoration is such a lovely factorial concept that I am not sure why it isn't more common tbh, just makes me feel good) Also one of those games that I'm able to play in bite sized chunk without feeling like i have to cut myself off, which actually makes it a fun and realxing game instead of a chore. The only way it could be better is if it had even more continents/ planets.
No clue what they did to this game by adding the photo nonsense. I hope they revert it or make it less tedious.
Nice softcore strategy game, a genre I've been enjoying now that I don't have that much time to learn intricate mechanics of hardcore strategy. This game is slow-paced, relaxing and rewarding. The mechanics are very straighforward and easy to learn. If you are looking for a relaxing experience with a tiny bit of strategy, Terra Nil is a good choice.
Good game, good difficulty curve, very satisfying and chill. Ambiance is nice, game is pretty, and each level offers unique challenges. However, the game is pretty short at the moment (I beat both medium and hardest difficulty + 100% achievments in under 50 hours) especially compared to its price. First additionnal content was free and great, so might be better in the future
