Almost 0 effort was put into this... The actual games are great, nothing wrong with them It's just the barebones launcher that's the main issue. This looks like a mobile app launcher, the ones that have almost 0 options to customize graphics or resolutions besides having options for FullScreen, Fullscreen borderless or Windowed Mode. When you buy the game, it comes with Soundtrack of the game, the Rom itself, a separated emulator (how nice) and the manual in pdf (No surprise here), then you can customize the controls and that's about it for the Launcher after you buy the game... For a Steam Launcher this is so, but so barebones that even you have more value buying Konami Castlevania Collection than this. I wouldn't buy it for now... Instead I would wait for the devs to develop more the Launcher itself to at least show the game you are playing and maybe, just maybe the stage of the game you are in? otherwise I don't think Steam was a better place to sell... EGG Project you have better value as well IF you can launch the game over there of course. Oh Yeah, you receive the same content on EGG if you have the game over there, It's just this is sort of "Official Emulator"? I would say that, but I think the EGG emulator would win against this for sure in terms of customization.
So in resume you are buying:

An encrypted ROM (Devs please make the Rom Unencrypted)
For PC-Engine games (The only game I bought to make this review), it comes with a zip file for "Mednafen - Multi-system Emulator" and unpacked with DRM to only be accessible using the launcher.
Lazy Launcher where you have the same opening music as the trailer, can customize Fullscreen, Borderless mode, Windowed mode (1x, 2x, 3x 4x) and controls for keyboard and Xbox gamepad.
Customization for Video filter (No scanlines btw...)
Options for selecting the monitor where the game will be displayed.
Master Volume control
Achievements for getting the stage completed yay!
I had a blast playing Gaiares and I think you probably will too! Now, before I give you my summary why I think you should play Gaiares, allow me to address a couple of questions about this port. 1. This game comes with a few basic extra's game manual: Japanese and English, Starting and end cut scenes, video and audio options (limited to master volume, screen mode-Fullscreen, Windowed etc, Rendering scale, Monitor in full screen mode, and three options for the video filter: bilinear, autoip, sabir). There is the option to listen to the games soundtrack but that is a DLC purchase (which I did purchase as well). The last extra that this port offers is save slots (9 in total) and an auto rewind feature which I found incredibly useful when learning how to get past difficult sections of the game, particularly when taking on each level's boss and learning their attack patterns to beat them. Someone here on the Steam forums asked is there a cheat code available and while I do not know the answer to that unfortunately, I can say that I believe that it's not necessary for the following reason: The game comes with 9 save states allowing you to save your game at any point, and an auto rewind feature allowing the player to undo mistakes immediately and in essence, never have to use one of your lives. I personally never needed it since I could always load up a save state or rewind depending on the situation. Why I really enjoyed this game Gaiares has a reputation for being unfair, strenuous and requiring near perfect skills if you want to beat it. So why would I recommend this game, considering that I'm a: A casual player Do not play for score Never CC any shoot em up ever Always play's on the easiest setting possible If I had to sum up why I really had a great time with Gaiares, it would be the boss battles. I have played so many shoot em up games with amazing boss fights, from Mushi-hime Sama, the Dodonpachi series, Progear, Air Zonk, The Aleste series, but there is something truly unique about Gaiares boss battles. Unlike other shoot em ups where I felt lucky at times to beat them, Gaiares is oddly enough totally fair in my opinion. I was elated when I finally beat the first boss (See, I told you I'm not good at shoot em ups) after more than 15 or 20 attempts and the sense of accomplishment! Unlike so many other shoot em up's where I often feel as if I got lucky defeating the boss somehow pulled it off, but with Gaiares...... I NEVER felt that once. The game has something called TOZ-a special tool that accompanies your ship, and you can shoot this orb at just about most enemies. If the TOZ latches on, you can steal their weapon and use it. This mechanic allows for all sorts of strategic gameplay and I found that not only is it useful for acquiring new weapons, but the TOZ can be used defensively; to absorb some of the projectiles from boss attacks (not all of them). So I found myself wanting to take on the next boss to see how the TOZ tool could be used. When I reached the next boss, it took a bit of practice and reloading the save state, but eventually, I was able to beat every boss once I realized that the TOZ can be used defensively, and that made the difference. All of a sudden, this game did not seem invincible. Bloody challenging yes and sometimes frustrating yes, but I always knew that the TOZ was the secret, I just needed to practice fighting the boss to figure out how best to use it. My patience with this worked and finally, I beat the game, and this the first shoot em game where I feel a great sense of accomplishment to have beaten. Sure I used save states but I can say that I beat every boss with no rewind feature, and only used save states from the start of the battle. It may not be the "purest" victory, but I enjoyed this challenge and had a wonderful time with Gaiares. I believe you will too. For anyone struggling with the boss fights: Use your save states. Have multiple save states per level. You can always go back and pick a different weapon and then save it for the boss fight. Some bosses go down quick, but you might need to carry a weapon from a particular enemy that's at the half way point of the level. So, use your save states and experiment. Use your TOZ defensively (put the TOZ in front of you, or move your ship so that TOZ is above you or below you to shield you from enemy bullets). Experiment with a variety of weapons. Some bosses go down very quickly once you get the right weapon, and you can turn a 3 minute battle and whittle it down to 1 minute! Make sure you read the manual! I had no idea the game manual contained so much useful information about weapons. I learned that I did not even get half of the weapons that the game offers. Read the manual! For anyone struggling with the level 6 boss. This is the only boss in the game, where I ALMOST quit. I think I fought this boss more than 50 times. I was 3 games from giving thinking it's not possible to beat it I watched someone on Youtube how they beat that boss and then I learned something I did not know: you can switch your ships game speed! There are three ship speeds. Once I changed the ship's speed, I finally beat that boss! I still fought that boss another 10 or 15 times though. You have no idea how excited I was taking down that boss haha. But truthfully, I nearly quitted. So, try changing the ship speed and experiment. Once I did that, I did beat the level 6 boss...but even then....barely. Good luck and I hope you have as much fun as I did!

Unbelievably bad and this goes for all 4 games in the collection. Another developer that cares precisely zero about preservation and just tortures us to enjoy the releases. NO screen size options, only integer, so you have to have FOUR black bars. NO crt filter of any kind, just a hideous blur filter. But the most egregious of all, they have encrypted each and every rom into multi part edat files to prevent us using the games in say RA on the very same machine. Shame on this developer, to release such barebones carp. I am tired of it. It is NOT hard to add a basic CRT filter and screen size options, as well as provide the roms when all you are doing is using mednafen anyway (beetle pc engine core in RA). Unacceptable. They did one thing right, they have full control remapping natively. For that they get 2 out of 5 stars rather than 1. This review applies to all the four commerical games that you can buy for this launcher. Oh and BTW, Vsync is forced ON, so even THAT, you have to force it OFF in your GPU panel if you want to use something like lossless scaling to get arounf the size issue. Then you need something like reshade or shaderglass for a CRT, the latter can add up to 2 frames of lag. I mean it's not rocket science to provide some basic emulaiton options guys, and yet they get all positive reviews until now. I just do not get it, this is about as bad as it gets for retro emulation packages.
Es sólo el Launcher. Sin comprar los DLC, que son los juegos, no podés jugar a nada. Los juegos están lindos.
Got this for Gaiares! one my personal all time favs. 35 years ago, i could finish the entire game in one sitting; on a single start. today, i realize just how crusty & flabby my skills & reflexes have gotten...i need to workout for this.
Shooter Heaven'a hoş geldiniz! Klasik Telenet Japan ve Wolf Team nişancı oyunları geri döndü. Not: "Telenet Shooting Collection Launcher", Telenet Japan ve Wolf Team oyunlarını oynamanıza olanak tanıyan ücretsiz bir oyun başlatıcısıdır. Oyunların kendileri başlatıcıya dahil değildir.
I finished all 4 games. They’re all solid 8/10. I highly recommend it if you like 16 bit 90s games. The included scans of the manuals were a nice bonus. It would have been nice if there were cheat options. I hope we get more 90s console games on Steam.
