🌟Main Gameplay🌟
As the restaurant owner, your most important task is to determine the management strategy for your restaurant. You’ll choose the monthly menu, set the price for each dish, decide whether to renovate or expand the shop, and determine whether to provide top-notch service to customers or cut costs to increase revenue. Do you spend a lot on staff training or set a meager 2,000 monthly salary with 90-hour work weeks? These decisions… are all in your hands!
Of course, the most important thing is to survive. If your cash flow is negative for two months in a row—welcome to the bankruptcy bad ending :)

Cooking, cleaning, checking bill errors, handling customer complaints… from 6 AM to 10 PM every day, there are many tasks to be done! Come and experience the daily management routine!

The childhood friend who bought you your family restaurent, the childhood companion with whom you used to get into trouble, the mysterious girl with a fiery temper… Taste of the Wind features many unique characters. Get to know their past stories and grow closer to them through sweet moments.
Maybe someone would say, no sweet moments, I only want to work and study! In Taste of the Wind, you can also learn the exclusive knowledge of your employees. Want to know what table turnover rate means? Have you noticed the little tricks on the menu that grab attention? Which knife should you use first when chopping vegetables? Why do you add salt last when stir-frying veggies? How can you tell if an egg is still usable? Plus, there's Karate, fortune-telling with Bazi, and Purple Star astrology... If you're interested in these, chat with the employees and learn more! Knowledge isn't just numbers; it's practical tips, and one of the branches leading to different endings!

In Taste of the Wind, while you have the goal of paying off the one million loan in five years, your choices will lead to different endings. Will you be the boss who pushes employees but makes a fortune, or will you choose to be more ethical? Will you opt for a chain store strategy and expand aggressively, opening a large restaurant, or go for a Michelin-starred restaurant? Or perhaps... even though the restaurant is your main business, you’re more into investing, fishing, and games of chance?
All these choices will lead to your own unique ending.

Taste of the Wind approaches restaurant management as more than a straightforward business simulator, combining financial strategy, daily work, social relationships, exploration, character development, and branching storytelling into one interconnected experience. Developed and published by 一留留, it centers on rebuilding a family restaurant while dealing with an enormous debt and uncovering the circumstances behind the establishment’s troubled history. The result is a game that mixes the comforting routine of running a small business with considerably heavier themes of loss, responsibility, ambition, and personal choice. The story provides a meaningful reason for nearly every management decision. After growing up around her parents’ restaurant, the protagonist sees her life collapse when the business is framed and her parents pass away. Years later, the return of a childhood friend leads to another major problem: a debt of one million that must somehow be repaid. Reopening the family restaurant becomes the primary route toward financial recovery, but it also creates an opportunity to investigate the past. This gives the economic systems more emotional weight because earning money is connected to both survival and the protagonist’s unresolved family history. Restaurant management forms the backbone of the experience. Players determine the menu, adjust prices, monitor expenses, renovate the establishment, consider expansion, and manage employees. The game allows different philosophies rather than forcing one ideal approach. You can invest heavily in workers and customer satisfaction, pursue quality and reputation, or become an aggressive cost-cutter focused primarily on profit. These decisions influence more than numbers on a balance sheet, helping establish what kind of owner the protagonist becomes. Financial mistakes also carry consequences, with prolonged negative cash flow potentially leading to bankruptcy and an unfavorable conclusion. A five-year objective to eliminate the debt gives the campaign a clear destination while leaving considerable freedom in how to reach it. Players can concentrate on transforming the original restaurant into a respected establishment or pursue expansion and potentially develop a larger business operation. Other activities can compete for time and money, including investments, fishing, and games of chance. These diversions make the experience resemble a broader life simulation rather than a management game confined to one building. The daily routine adds more immediate activities to complement long-term planning. Cooking, cleaning, checking bills, responding to complaints, and handling practical restaurant problems create a sense that the protagonist is actively working rather than merely controlling the business through menus. Mini-games provide additional variety and break up the strategic portions. Some repetition is inevitable, especially across a campaign covering several in-game years, but the combination of hands-on tasks and larger management decisions helps keep the restaurant from feeling completely automated. Stone Town expands the experience beyond business operations. Exploring the area introduces different characters, including childhood acquaintances and unusual personalities who may become important to the protagonist’s future. Relationships are tied to progression because interacting with people can provide useful knowledge. Subjects range from cooking techniques, restaurant concepts, and food-related expertise to more unconventional areas such as martial arts, fortune-telling, and traditional astrology. This learning system gives conversations practical value and encourages players to engage with the community instead of treating social encounters as optional dialogue. The branching narrative is particularly important to replayability. Choices involving money, employees, relationships, knowledge, expansion, and personal activities can push the protagonist toward different outcomes. A player obsessed with maximizing wealth can create a dramatically different future from someone who prioritizes employee welfare and restaurant quality. Bankruptcy is also integrated into the possible outcomes, meaning poor management becomes part of the story rather than simply producing an ordinary failure screen. Multiple endings provide a good reason to experiment with different priorities on subsequent playthroughs. The hand-drawn 2D presentation complements the character-driven structure nicely. Its colorful artwork gives Stone Town and the restaurant an inviting personality, while illustrated characters suit the dialogue-heavy storytelling. There is an effective contrast between the pleasant visual style and the more serious subjects underneath it. Debt, bereavement, business ethics, financial desperation, and difficult personal decisions prevent the experience from becoming purely cozy, even though its appearance initially suggests something much lighter. Its greatest potential weakness comes from the same ambition that makes it distinctive. Restaurant management, RPG-style progression, visual-novel conversations, mini-games, exploration, relationships, investments, and multiple endings represent a large collection of systems. Players expecting an exceptionally detailed economic simulator may consider some elements relatively lightweight, while those primarily interested in narrative could find the financial responsibilities demanding. Repeated daily chores may also become predictable during a lengthy campaign. The game is therefore best suited to players who appreciate variety rather than those seeking extreme depth from one particular mechanic. Steam Deck compatibility is less straightforward than with games carrying an official Verified designation. It should be treated cautiously for handheld play because an official Steam Deck compatibility rating is not clearly established. The 2D presentation and comparatively modest technical nature suggest that the game is not inherently demanding, but interface readability, controller support, text entry, and Proton behavior can still affect the experience. Players purchasing specifically for Steam Deck should therefore consider its compatibility unconfirmed rather than assuming completely seamless handheld operation. Overall, Taste of the Wind succeeds most strongly as a hybrid life and restaurant-management experience where money is only one measurement of progress. The family mystery gives purpose to rebuilding the restaurant, while relationships, education, exploration, business ethics, and branching outcomes add personality to the economic systems. It may occasionally sacrifice mechanical depth in exchange for variety, but its combination of personal storytelling and managerial freedom creates an appealing identity. Players who enjoy managing resources while shaping a character’s relationships and future should find plenty to explore across its five-year journey. Rating: 8/10
