I don't give a damn about jumpscares but gameplay is a bit of puzzle solving and walking sim. There's no real danger (spoiler). Puzzle part is ok, find required item to unlock new area. Story is about soldier who probably suffer from some kind of trauma as his squad was taken down mysteriously. I liked the voice acting and story was good. On the contrary visuals are average and it's very short. Worth checking out if you like horrors but you will not miss much by not playing this one.
GOOD

Imagine getting locked in a room, you see the shadow of a guy passing through the window and you just go in the most generic, uncaring tone possible " That guy is suspicious ". Normally, I would say the protagonist constantly commenting on the most obvious stuff is irritating but it's pretty bad here to the point where it's just funny.
Tangles is a psychological horror adventure developed by Hamad Al-Humaidan and Saad Al-Humaidan and published by Saham Studio. Built around mystery, isolation, and the fragile nature of human perception, the game presents a suspenseful narrative that focuses less on direct confrontation and more on uncovering disturbing truths hidden beneath an abandoned military operation. Despite being a relatively compact experience, it succeeds in creating a memorable atmosphere that keeps players engaged from beginning to end. The story follows Soldier Basel, a member of an eight-man military squad assigned to what initially appears to be a routine mission on a remote island. After suffering a severe injury during training and falling into a coma, Basel awakens to discover that his teammates have disappeared without a trace. With no clear explanation and only fragments of information available, he begins a search across the island to uncover what happened. This setup immediately establishes a compelling mystery, encouraging players to investigate every location and piece together the events that led to the squad’s disappearance. One of the game's greatest strengths lies in its psychological approach to horror. Rather than relying heavily on constant jump scares or action-driven encounters, Tangles creates tension through uncertainty and mental unease. As Basel explores the island, the line between reality and illusion becomes increasingly blurred. Strange occurrences, unsettling discoveries, and fragmented clues gradually make players question what is truly happening. This emphasis on perception and confusion gives the narrative depth while maintaining a persistent sense of dread throughout the experience. Exploration serves as the core gameplay mechanic. The island itself functions almost like a character, filled with abandoned facilities, hidden corners, and environmental details that reveal pieces of the larger story. Progress is driven by curiosity, rewarding players who pay close attention to their surroundings. Every new area contributes additional layers to the mystery, making exploration feel meaningful rather than repetitive. The pacing benefits from this structure, as discoveries are delivered steadily enough to maintain intrigue without overwhelming the player with information. Visually, Tangles demonstrates an impressive level of quality for an independent horror title. The environments are detailed and atmospheric, with lighting and environmental effects playing a significant role in establishing mood. Dark corridors, deserted structures, and isolated outdoor locations combine to create a constant feeling of vulnerability. The graphical presentation supports the narrative themes effectively, reinforcing the sense of loneliness and uncertainty that defines Basel's journey. The sound design further enhances the experience. Ambient noises, subtle environmental effects, and carefully timed audio cues contribute to the overall tension. Silence is often used just as effectively as sound, allowing moments of anticipation to linger and making players feel uneasy even when nothing overtly threatening is occurring. This restrained approach helps maintain immersion and strengthens the psychological horror elements. An additional feature that adds value to the game is the inclusion of hidden collectible documents. Players willing to thoroughly search the island can uncover secret records that provide deeper insight into the location's history and background. These optional discoveries expand the lore and offer a stronger understanding of the events surrounding the mission. They also encourage replayability for those interested in uncovering every detail of the story. The game's primary limitation is its relatively short duration. Some of the concepts introduced throughout the narrative are intriguing enough to warrant further exploration, and certain players may wish for a longer campaign with additional character development and expanded worldbuilding. However, the concise nature of the experience also helps prevent unnecessary padding. The story remains focused, delivering its mystery without becoming repetitive or losing momentum. Overall, Tangles is an effective psychological horror adventure that excels through atmosphere, storytelling, and mystery. Its engaging premise, strong environmental design, and thoughtful use of psychological tension create an experience that stands out among smaller indie horror projects. While its brief runtime may leave players wanting more, the quality of its narrative and presentation ensures that the journey remains compelling throughout. Horror fans who appreciate exploration-driven storytelling and mysteries centered on perception and reality will find plenty to admire in this unsettling adventure. Rating: 8/10
