Tamagorudo floor 0 is by a French/UK developer named Ben Morelle and is a reboot of his entry for a 2019 game jam which was themed about a Brazilian artist named Erika Verzutti and her 2019 gallery exhibit at The Centre Pompidou in France which featured a “Mutations/Creations 3” theme. Erika is popular for her fruit, vegetable and animal wall mounts and floor sculptors, which assert rebelliousness against trends of simplicity and functionalism. This particular showcase of hers, started with a tribute to surreal artist Tarsila do Amaral and was all about missionaries, turtles and a cemetery of failed or rejected Brazilian art in the 1960’s. Her showcases are often tinted with Venusian sensuality, unbridled humour and in island linking lay out. Among the islands of art, was an egg motif used to symbolise a fertile work cracked open. This is why the original short 2019 game jam version is themed around eggs. What isn’t apparent, is why Ben Morelle added a ‘What came first the chicken or the egg’ paradox as a focal point to his early game jam entry as this was never a feature in the original art exhibit. While the accompanying store descriptions in both of his 2019 and 2025 versions of the game tantalise subtext and possible hidden clues to this conundrum, disappointingly I discovered no such thing and only found absurdity. Other than the games title itself, which when separated translates as ‘Tama’ meaning ‘Ball or Sphere’ and ‘Gorudo’ which means ‘Golden’, evidently a nod to the Golden Egg entity in game. Other than that, I could not decipher any other meaningful gesture towards deciphering the paradox. So why add it and link it to the backrooms? The shell of the game revolves around a 4-member expedition team who in 7/11/18 no clipped into the backrooms and lost one of their team scientists named Dr Aaron Zane, while the other 3 members continue to search for the missing member, they are led into a parallel void filled with possessed chickens, a giant galliform Cthulhu-like being and a malevolent golden egg entity which manages to kill professor Brooks of the group through a gravity anomaly. This leaves only 2 members of the team left, Dr Turner who is desperately seeking an exit point from the Backrooms and Dr Harker who has become mentally ill, paranoid and is convinced he is a psychotic chicken. We then come across in the void a non-sensical, surreal like corridor, littered with bent out of shape research scientists presumably from prior expedition teams. They are all wearing gas masks inside fully enclosed hazmat suits. Why? Has the developer even thought this through? Then we are forced to solve an egg puzzle that involves making human contact with eggs with the longest expiry date. WHY? Honestly at this point of the game I’m forced to ask myself what substance Ben Morelle might be snorting. Finally, we are led back into the backrooms from the void and encounter a blood splatter that suggests that Dr Turner may have been bludgeoned to death by a brooding Dr Harker which we also may have encountered and who is leading us into the ‘Poolrooms’ hinting towards a continuation chapter one of the game. In final, a free reboot of a game jam that poached the chicken and egg paradox through absurdity and left it scrambled with no genuine fulfilling sustenance. This would leave every player still hungry for meaning, even after having played through it. You can break the game early by just avoiding the egg at the start, this alone tells me that Ben Morelle really needs to sit on this nest egg concept a LOT longer until it hatches properly. (PS: On the flip side, we the protagonist, might be Dr Aaron Zane and the one not lost, but looking for our other 3 fellow scientists who are)… Both versions of the game by me below… https://youtu.be/OTMc6eTlo-c?si=s3pKLwktSmkA_qW1 My Reviews: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/6843548/

This game is very enlightening. Best game ever. 10/10. no. 67/10.
this game sucks eggs
This game was free and I still want a refund. Jesus Christ this was bad...
Honestly, it's repetitive on paper, but it the tension and anxiety of what may come next never went away from me personally. It kept me paranoid "maybe this time, maybe this time" and I loved it to the very end. After we "got out", there was still an eerie feeling lingering in the next part. Greatly enjoyed!
gud
The idea is unique, but it feels quite repetitive, so it comes across as a bit lacking as a game experience.
imagine you decide to make a video game and the best you've got is walking into eggs and nothing else
what the ♥♥♥♥ was that
