Tails of the North

I thought it was super cute and awesome. They didn't need to add a dog character but the fact that they did is nice. 🧡

Очень сыро, пока это только набросок, нет настроек графики (что лично для моего железа показывало менее 15 фпс), опять же сам визуал имеет приятное освещение и/или цветовую палитру, остальное же не очень. Так же мало звукового сопровождения, простые анимации, обычные механики и сами квесты(что то найти и принести, куда то про прыгать), сюжет не знаю(пропустил т.к. плохой английский и как то не заинтересовало). Есть кастомизация персонажа(кто то видать любит котиков) окей это плюс. В целом даже при низких кадрах понравилось бегать по карте, не то что бы она была как то супер проработана, см. скрины, но в целом приятно, но опять же на любителя и под настроение

O joguim é muito promissor, me sinto até mal em não recomendar um jogo gratuito. O jogo possui história, tem cenário fofinho, música ok, tem missões, tem mapa, gameplay fácil, é possível customizar o gatinho que vai jogar. Porém, tentei jogar por duas vezes, tendo que reiniciar por duas vezes, pois me deparei com 2 bugs que impediam a progressão na história: o jogo não contabilizava as tarefas feitas e isso ocorreu em missões diferentes. Desisti de tentar chegar no final, e o pior de tudo é que não encontrei gameplay na internet para poder saber qual é o final da história =,/

tails of the north is a very nice looking cat game with a really nice looking world. you get a small bit of customisation for your cat, but it's not really that much. still nice though! the movement is janky at times, especially when going up or down terrain, or climbing branches and rocks, but not janky enough to be frustrating. they give you some lore at the start and vaguely throughout the... 30 or so minutes of playtime if you know where you're going (my playtime is at 51 minutes but i also spent a good 20 or so just looking at the environment and figuring out where to go). it's really interesting and i'd love to know more but they just don't tell you enough about it or what's going on. the game also ends right as stuff gets really interesting, but i also wasn't expecting that much playtime from the game, considering it IS free and looked very simple. would love to get to know more about the world and it's lore, though, and especially what happens right after the ending cutscene.

The game isn't that optimized, and most of your time spent in this game will be holding the shift button and occasionally reading dialogue. The graphics however, are simple but pretty. The cats are cute, the designs are cute, and the art in the cutscenes is really good. If not for the gameplay, I'd definitely play for the art. I also had to replay this game like 4 times. The first time was as a cat named French Guy, this was my first time playing. I did fine until it made me talk to a cat named Blizzard. Even though it was literally in my quest menu, it wouldn't let me talk to them. Wanna know why? Because I wasn't even supposed to talk to the cat yet. WHY DID IT GIVE ME THE QUEST THEN?? So the second time was just me reloading the game. Because there IS a continue button, but it doesn't even work as a continue button. The continue button resets all of your game progress and there is no save button. The sole reason why I have 17 hours on this game. Because I had to leave the game running while I slept. The third time was as a cat named Rotisserie Chicken, but there is a 15 character limit even though your name has no relevance to the story. So I was forced to rename him to Rotisserie Chkn. I completed the entire game finally on that save. Then, the last one was Dead Rat. I only did this one because the final cutscene just ends the game without letting you explore or do your remaining quests. I recommend it only because the game is pretty and I don't want to be harsh. It really pissed me off playing it, but whatever. You should at least know what you signed up for after reading the review. The overall game is like 30 minutes long if you do everything in the correct order.

Tails of the North is a surprisingly pleasant adventure that I enjoyed mainly because of its atmosphere. I play as a young cat who survives the destruction of a cat colony and sets out to discover why the natural order around the region has become unstable. I liked how the cute main character contrasts with the more serious mystery surrounding the world. The gameplay is focused mostly on exploration and story. I spend my time travelling through the northern environment, meeting characters and searching for clues connected to the disappearance of a spirit. I liked the relaxed pacing because it gives me time to actually look around and appreciate the world instead of constantly rushing toward the next objective. The role playing elements are fairly light, but they give the experience some extra personality. I can customize my character and interact with the inhabitants of the world while gradually learning more about what has happened. I enjoyed the feeling of slowly piecing the mystery together through exploration rather than having every important detail explained immediately. The environments are probably the strongest part of the presentation. The northern setting has a colorful and stylized look, while the animal characters make everything feel warm and approachable. I also liked the magical elements because they give the exploration a slightly mysterious quality without taking away from the peaceful atmosphere. My biggest issue is that the gameplay can become too quiet at times. There are stretches where I am mainly travelling from one place to another without much interaction, and I sometimes wished there were more activities beyond exploration and dialogue. The game also feels closer to a focused story adventure than a fully developed role playing game. Still, I think the slower approach works for what Tails of the North is trying to be. I liked having space to explore and think about the mystery instead of being bombarded with constant objectives. The cat protagonist is also easy to like, and the emotional side of the story gives the adventure more weight than I expected. Overall, Tails of the North is a charming story focused exploration game with a beautiful setting and a lovely central idea. I enjoyed uncovering the mystery, meeting the inhabitants and exploring the northern landscape at my own pace. It could use more gameplay variety, but the atmosphere and characters make it a worthwhile little adventure. Rating: 6.7/10
