The scan was originally released for tablets. The developers created a remastered edition for Steam.
Gameplay
the game does have a story, but it is not important for the gameplay. You jump from scenario to scenario in the game. In the beginning, you select two heroes, you also choose what class they will have. In each battle, different units carry different colored flags. Yours are blue, enemy units are red. On the battlefield, there are different objects. One is a pillar, which will become yours if you stand on it for one turn. If a unit rests on this pillar for a time, it can regain some hit points. It also gives you an option to recruit one more unit four slots the pillar is yours. In addition, there are tents. Yours are blue, here you can recruit new units. The top portion of the screen shows you how many units you can have. Your enemies will emerge from the red tents. You can capture enemy tents by standing on the tent for one full turn. The red tent will become blue. You do have to be careful, because your enemies can take over your territory as well. If an enemy has no more tents, they can no longer respawn new units. If a unit is defeated in battle, they will not die permanently. You only lose the ability to use them for a few turns. You just have to choose another unit in the tent. You can select units from different classes, such as archers, marksman, rogues, etc. There are a total of 25 classes. Every turn you move your units individually. After that, you can attack. If you moved your character and you do not like the end position, you can easily redo this. This is a nice feature. After you win the scenario, you will return to your home base. Here you can manage things like hire mercenaries, distribute skill points, buy weapons and armour. You can save whenever you want, and you can have multiple save files. The game does offer a very good tutorial which should be played first.
Controls
Game can be fully played with a mouse.
Graphics and Sounds
Graphics are retro-style with colorful tiles and nice character designs. The sound effects are average and music is all right.
Conclusion
This is a remastered version of a tablet game. The game offers 90 different scenarios, to offer plenty of gameplay and to justify its price. This is a good example of a game for which a developer put enough effort to bring it over to the PC. The game requires a fair amount of strategical thinking. While it is not casual, it is also not actually difficult. If you enjoy turn-based strategy games, this is worthwhile for you to look into. I have enjoyed the battles in this game, and I would recommend it. 8/10. Here's a brief video of some gameplay: https://youtu.be/332jRcbBluE
I received the product for free.
Recommended for tactics lovers!!
I've played all the Mangobile games on Android for years. They're some of those favorites I repeatedly revisit.

Kingturn Underworld
Kingturn RPG
Kingturn RPG Plus
Tactics Maiden
Each of these have progressively improved graphics & mechanics. I recommend playing them in this order. These games scratch my (substantial) Final Fantasy Tactics itch, but are even better in many ways. OPTIONS!! Wow, there are so many options! As a programmer, I always give users lots of options, but I sadly rarely see that in a game. Every aspect of Tactics Maiden Remastered can be customized to suit your preferences & skill level. Not only does this allow you to play the game the way you prefer, it lets you add difficulty as you hone your tactical skills. e.g. Changing it so that even friendly units block a unit's path will completely change your tactics for a battle, as would turning on friendly fire. Then of course there's changing the difficulty level itself (there are 5 levels) and several other combos of options. Tactics! The AI provides wonderful tactical challenges at any skill level. Because it's turn-based, you can take all the time you need to strategize. Replayability due to:

Remastered version introduces battle setup randomness
Changing a game option can completely change your tactics
Changing your main hero class
Changing the hero classes you use/hire & how you use (& invest in) their skills & weapons
Great Developer! Mangobile is an indie developer, is great with communicating details about the game, and is very responsive to players. (Check out Discussions on Steam.) You won't find stunning visuals here, although I very much like these Remastered graphics & effects. For me it's all about the tactical challenges. Your units will never die (they just get "time outs" if they lose all hit points) so it's always safe to dive in and try an idea, fail (lose), then try again with a different strategy based on what you learned. If you like turn-based tactical games, you're guaranteed to find the challenge you're seeking here.
perfect Battle of Wesnoth type RPG strategy.
Summary: A true hidden gem that really hits that turn based strategy/rpg sweet spot. Gameplay that just gets better and deeper the further you get. Decievingly simplistic in appearance, but offering a very good challenge and real thought and care in building an army. This is an indie title that holds up the tradition of some giants in the console world such as Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Will Appeal To: Anyone who enjoys meaty turn-based strategy along with RPG-like progression (similar to xcom or jagged-alliance-style buildup of veteran units). If you like some challenge in your games, and a real chance to lose if you just charge in without thought - this game is for you. If you enjoy gearing up your characters, picking who gets to wield that fancy new sword or staff or suit of armor, to best compliment your characters sklls, this is for you. If you like to customize your chars stats on level-up, this game is for you. It's even got some storyline to follow, and while it comes off as goofy at times, it's actually entertaining in itself. Why you should give it a try: Honestly, it's shamefully underpublicized in my opinion. If you played the mobile games in the Kingturn series, this is by the same developer. THAT SAID, this is NOT just a simple mobile port. EVERYTHING about the game has been improved - new scenarios, much improved graphics and animations, tons of quality-of-life improvements, more items, etc. Really, this is so much more than a re-tread - I LOVED the mobile Kingturn games, but I'm enjoying this desktop experience even more. It's not expensive, and I've already sunk over 24hrs of playtime into it - plenty of campaign left to play! It is well worth the money - give it a spin, and don't just play a single scenario or two - you'll notice your gameplay options and depth just increases with each new challenge!
You already have other reviewers telling you how the game plays; how the game is like FF Tactics and other games like that. That's not what this review is. This review is here to tell you what else you should know. I'll keep it short and sweet. This game is not a cash grab. It is NOT a port. Yes, it is on the phones, and it is an amazing game on the phones. (All of the "Kingturn" games are.) But this takes that game and actually Remasters it. "Remastered" is not just a "new and improved" gimmick. Not only does the game looks better and plays better, but there are a S**T load of extras put in. I was a huge fan of the Android versions and I helped with the testing of this version. There are new classes that you can give your main character, new skills, new game modes, new scenarios, new characters, etc, etc. Theses things aren't just haphazardly added in. They are actually fully fleshed out. Each change that you have the option of using completely changes how the game plays and what your experience is like. This game was already a work of love, and this remaster is obviously much more of the same. The developer cares and he is still updating and improving this game even after release. Get this game and support him, then he can and will remaster his other games. This is the type of developer we need more of: One that puts out quality products for a fair price.
I have bought and played every game Mangobile has released on Android and Iphone, and can heartily recommend this title to anyone who enjoys strategy rpgs such as Final Fantasy Tactics. In many ways, it is a much more approachable title. I really appreciate the visual enhancements that have come with the pc release, simplistic and cartoony as they may be. It is also great how they mixed up some gameplay aspects for veterans of the phone versions to keep things fresh!
A really solid tactics-based RPG that makes you seriously consider your moves, but doesn't punish you too harshly for bad moves. There is no permadeath (units are available to respawn after a few turns if you still hold a camp to do so), but this also applies to enemy units, so you are still incentivized to capture enemy camps. Since enemies can essentially come in endless waves until you capture their camps, the AI can be very aggressive making capturing objectives fairly challenging. As for managing units, the developer has included an auto-equip features, if you don't wish to worry about that part of the game. Alternatively, you can fully equip each unit and change their skills on the fly. Don't want your Druid to focus on healing anymore? Just freely remove the skill points from healing to add them to summoning, it's just that easy. It's aspects like this that are executed better than other more successful titles in the genre like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem. It's fun to mix and match skills and find what you enjoy using, rather than being stuck with a choice you made several hours ago. It's evident from playing, this game was a labor of love for the developer.
Tactics Maiden is a great mobile game, but it is even better on the PC. The price is right for what you are getting and the amount of time you can sink into this game. I have logged around 75 hours on my phone with it before this version came out. This game is well worth the investment.
This is a faithful port of the iOS/Android game, True to its mobile origins, levels are short enough that you can play the game in bite-sized pieces. Nonetheless, it is of high quality, and it is a premium game with no microtransactions or ads.
