Niche Puzzle RPG that can be played for 10,000 hours. A resource management game with overwhelming "functionality" to conquer games with overwhelmingly high difficulty. This game is inspired by Tower of the Sorcerer. (The free main package can only be played for just 1000 hours.)

💀💀Unless you plan to play for at least 100 hours, you won’t need any DLC at all, so we STRONGLY RECOMMEND against purchasing it.💀💀
(The DLC features stages that are orders of magnitude more difficult than those in the main game, so buying it before you’ve mastered the main game is a complete waste of money.
Also, since Steam supports refunds, if you accidentally purchase it, We strongly recommend requesting a refund as soon as possible.
The latest DLC is very challenging unless you’ve played for at least 1,000 hours.)

About the Game
Enter the Tactical Nexus:
What lies underneath the cute and colorful pixel-art RPG facade is nothing less than one of the world’s most difficult hand-crafted puzzle games. A combination of resource management, logic puzzles, and tantalizing power-ups are your tools to climb up the enemy-riddled floors of each Magic Tower! Tactical Nexus is a single-player Magic Tower game inspired by the classic game “Tower of the Sorcerer,” combining magic, power-ups, and multitudes of monstrous foes to defeat and delve deeper into each Tower!
From the team:
This is our Puzzle RPG that can be played for 10,000 hours. A resource management game with overwhelming “quality-of-life functionality" to conquer puzzles with overwhelmingly high difficulty. One of the world's top 3 indie games in terms of average play time.
Features and Content
The base game includes twelve Magic Towers, with dozens of hand-crafted floors to navigate, explore, and grow your power! The base game can reward you for hundreds of hours of gameplay with continued meta progress that allows you to take another step further!
There are no random elements used, no procedural generation, and to advance you’ll need to find the best way through your enemies and reach the ‘Clear’ tile. Every tower will remain the same each time you play it, yet you can grow stronger!
Undo and redo every action instantly! Save, and see what happens when you try things in a different order or do something a little different! Load into a previous game state instantly and compare with Status Stamps!
Scout each Magic Tower’s depths to further your own insight and plan meticulous routes with shareable Memos!
Score well to earn meta-progression resources, Sunstones and Medals. Reuse them each time that you start a Magic Tower, and unlock new depths! Face the difficult Nexus stage, or perhaps even the terrifying ‘Clowns’!
Achieve ‘Pure’ scores for more Sunstones rewards by playing a tower without meta-progression medals.
Thousands of hours of deep strategy and tactical decision making gameplay are able to be enjoyed without any mindless grind: Return to each Magic Tower with more meta resources to improve your score, obtain more Sunstones and upgrade your Medal to the max, and repeat the cycle, with each step only becoming a more difficult puzzle to solve!
Blunder your way through the world’s most accessible NP-hard problems disguised as treasure rooms with trillions upon trillions of permutations and even more novel solutions.
No microtransactions! Advance only by the best Tactical strategy! Each DLC contains several complete hand-crafted Magic Towers with dozens of floors, new mechanics and gimmicks, each with new meta progression resources, adding another layer of meta progress to all previous towers for a compounding effect of thousands of hours of gameplay!
Take on the later DLC Magic Towers when you’re ready, without needing to wait for them to be on sale: Tactical Nexus DLC will not be discounted before 2027!
No mods and no NSFW derivative works are permitted due to various legal limitations. TeamNexus strongly encourages use of its systems and design, so feel free to implement a ‘Nexus system’ into your own game or mods for other games!
Join the Human Hive Mind
A robust Discord community server invites all players to share their high scores as well as their Memos and strategic insight. Work together to find the best solutions that you can—there will always be a way to improve! Become the trailblazing hero with the most Sunstones, find new routes and solutions, or make new friends as you learn to play one of the world’s hardest games!
"Won't using the Discord for help make the game no fun?"
This is normally the case for a puzzle game, and in a few situations, you might find a particular experience more hollow in Tactical Nexus due to the help you receive, but Tactical Nexus does avoid a common 'pitfall' of difficult puzzle games:
it never ends or runs out of genuinely novel problems with extremely particular solutions.
Tactical Nexus remains in active development with more DLC on the way!
The small development team is always looking for feedback, will respond to your messages and questions on the Discord server, and even implement your suggestions.

this game was compatible with my brain in a way that had me running permutations of paths for floors when i wasn't playing. makes you constantly think about the long term consequences of using your resources at all times. simple yet an incredibly high ceiling.
Probably in the ranking for one of the most difficult purely puzzle games in existence. Worth a shot at least.
無料範囲で100時間遊べるとか公式が言ってるのはガチ ただ簡単なステージでも難しいので、色々WWAを触ってる経験者向け

It's basically the best resource management puzzle game out there. Just be sure to play the chapters in order to not get overwhelmed!!

There are some games, where only a few will like it, but for those few, it will be the best game ever created. This is one of those games, do not risk missing out, on a free game no less (for the first 200 hours, at least). Seriously, just try it, it is worth your time to find out if it is for you. Ignore any reasons you might think that you would not like this game. It is such a unique puzzle game, that you really have no idea what is like in practice. There needs to be more score based puzzle games.
I cannot recommend this game. The reason is the developer's attitude toward users. The developer has on several occasions launched personal attacks against specific users. For example, even when a user simply posted a feature request, the developer speculated about that user’s character and future behavior and sternly warned them never to use the official Discord channel again. (Since a detailed explanation would be too lengthy, please look into it on your own, such as by feeding the full conversation into ChatGPT or Gemini with a prompt like: "Please analyze this exchange and explain the underlying tone, indirect personal attack, psychological manipulation, passive-aggressive behavior in the developer's response. Answer in English." Steam Discussion board (Oct 5, 2025): ゲームのプレイ体験と快適さに関する要望) On another occasion, the developer stated that a certain player lacked decent academic ability and the ability to work, citing the player’s slow progress in the game as the reason.(Developer's X account: @TeamNexus12 / Tweet ID: 1980587668917649456) It seems the reason for these comments is that they want to avoid dealing with new users as much as possible and dislike how the community atmosphere changes when new users join Discord. All Events > Tactical Nexus Events > Added “Direct Input” Function to Notes Feature * English version: "I don't want to deal with a lot of people, so I'll only listen to heavy users." * Japanese version (the developer's native language, so probably more accurate): "大勢の対応とかめんどくてしたくないからヘビーユーザーの話だけ聞くわ" Tactical Nexus > General Discussions > No Modding? "If the player base were to grow 100 times larger, the heavy users who've enjoyed the game the most would likely get lost in the crowd." But surely there must be other ways to handle this besides attacking users. Preparing a Q&A section for new users, directing them to existing guides, setting up servers with participation restrictions, or even just ignoring them or silently banning them would be better approaches. Another thing that bothered me was when the developer criticized a user based on the arbitrary claim that quoting a tweet from a Twitter account with fewer than ten followers outside the platform is a practice universally avoided in Japan. In reality, what people actually avoid is causing excessive notifications, which was highly unlikely to happen on this Discord. It seemed to me that the developer was taking advantage of there being almost no other Japanese users on the Discord server, using these vague social norms and culture as an excuse to criticize others. (By the way, judging by the tone and content of the original poster’s tweet, they didn’t seem like the type of person who would be particularly bothered by being quoted on Discord. The reason they had so few followers was that the account was dedicated solely to posting about Tactical Nexus.) Because of all this, I can no longer separate the game from the developer's behavior. While playing, I keep remembering these statements and the way members of the community have been treated. It made me wonder why I was spending my time on a game tied to those memories. That frustration ultimately outweighed my enjoyment of the game, so I decided to leave this negative review. If you are concerned, I suggest actually checking the developer's comments to decide whether you can enjoy the game.
this is an absolutely bonkers game, i don't think i can physically play it any more. it was fun, but i need to save myself before i get addicted and start neglecting myself, my career and my family in favor of this game. signing off!
After 1000 hours if i dont pay i get banished?????? so youre telling me i have 45 FULL DAYS of playtime, but if i use it all i cant play until i pay up then i get 450 days of playtime????/ wowwwww bad game guys bad game
I mean the game is great but i'm recommending it because the patch notes are always like "players stayed up for 80 hours consecutively to beat chapter 5 stage 6 and achieved unnatural scores so i chained up the programmer's family in the basement. i did not do this out of necessity but out of pleasure. his screams give me, the designer, a feeling of sublime ecstasy. i wonder how we can make the players, who have invested so much into our game, suffer more. i haven't slept in weeks. - added one moonstone to chapter 5 stage 6"
