Needs a lot of help. Painfully slow transitions. Huge parts of the UI dedicated to things that don't matter. I think this one is aimed at young children.
Jogo brasileiro rogue like. Lets go lets go.
Jogo muito lindo e divertido
Got it 50% off on Fanatical. It is worth it, it does not have the replayability of a traditional rougelike deckbuilder (but the price reflects that), but the music and the Brazilian folklore makes up for it. A couple differences further help it and the cards and enemies are unique thematically and in what they do. So overall I would heartily recommend it, and hoping for more from this developer. Update: it gets stale and repetitive very quick. Less than 2 hours in and I am bored out of my skull, this game is just not good enough. It is a nice amateur effort. But the fact that everything is so samey and the tactics are boring, never felt like I could die if I use one brain cell, makes it a no-no. Update: played some more, the world is interesting as I did not know much about the Brazil folklore, but the balance and a lot of bugs I encountered at the latest stage Nightmare mode caused a lot of frustration. Overall it was a 5.5/10 for me. The real challenge starts at Nightmare 4, but due to bugs where cards no longer work as they supposed to (meaning game stutters, breaks its rules, as if the data was too much at that point, or people did not get that far and thus did not have feedback regarding that. At the end of the day it tried something new and the themes are good, the music is excellent. Kudos for that. Here is a positive review.
Game is challenging as hell, and very engaging in that regard. There are two characters here (brother and sister), each with their own story. And you can only get to the end of their stories by finishing the higher difficulties. The biggest factor in its uniqueness though is not the challenge (if that's not your thing) but the themes: the story plays out in rural Brazil, and the creatures are uniquely those of brazilian folklore, and given life with great animations. If you want a different spin on roguelike deckbuilders (away from all the generic fantasy and bland sci-fi), as well as a good challenge, you might want to give this a go.
Tacape, developed by Really Long Birds and Aiyra, and published by PID Games and Dear Villagers, is a distinctive roguelite deck-building game that stands out through its rich integration of Brazilian folklore and culture. Set against the backdrop of vibrant myths and legends, the game invites players to embark on a challenging journey filled with tactical combat and strategic deck management. The core gameplay revolves around building and refining a personalized deck of cards, each offering unique abilities and synergies that must be leveraged to overcome a variety of foes inspired by folkloric creatures. This combination of strategy and randomness inherent in roguelite design ensures that every playthrough feels fresh and demands adaptability, keeping players engaged as they explore new tactics and card combinations. The combat system in Tacape strikes a satisfying balance between accessibility and depth. Players must carefully consider each card played, managing resources and planning several moves ahead to maximize their effectiveness against enemies. The encounters vary widely, with each folkloric adversary bringing distinct behaviors and mechanics that test the player’s strategic thinking. Progression is marked by the gradual unlocking of new cards and abilities, allowing for increasingly complex and tailored decks. The roguelite elements, including procedurally generated encounters and permanent upgrades, contribute to a compelling loop of risk and reward that motivates repeated attempts and experimentation with different strategies. One of the most striking features of Tacape is its visual and cultural presentation. The game’s art direction draws deeply from Brazilian cultural motifs, infusing every card, character, and environment with vibrant designs that celebrate the country’s rich folklore. This not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also provides a meaningful cultural context that distinguishes Tacape from other games in the genre. The attention to detail in the illustrations and animations breathes life into mythical creatures and legends, offering players an immersive experience that feels both educational and entertaining. This cultural richness enhances the storytelling and adds layers of depth to the gameplay, creating a unique fusion of mechanics and narrative. Accessibility and inclusivity have been thoughtfully addressed in Tacape, with the game available across multiple platforms including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Furthermore, it supports several languages, making it more approachable for a global audience interested in exploring its themes and mechanics. While the player base remains relatively modest, this niche appeal aligns with the game’s focused design and cultural specificity. The smaller community, however, means that multiplayer or extensive community-driven content is limited, placing the emphasis squarely on the single-player experience and personal mastery of the game’s systems. While Tacape has been well-received for its innovative gameplay and cultural depth, it is not without areas that could benefit from refinement. Some players have noted that the learning curve can be steep, particularly for those new to deck-building roguelites, and that a more comprehensive tutorial or onboarding process might enhance accessibility. Additionally, the random nature of roguelites means that a degree of frustration can arise when runs end abruptly, though this is somewhat mitigated by the game's rewarding progression system. Despite these minor critiques, the game’s strengths in art, storytelling, and tactical design make it a compelling choice for those looking to explore something fresh within the genre. In sum, Tacape offers a rich and engaging experience that combines strategic deck-building with the enchanting world of Brazilian folklore. Its unique cultural setting, combined with a robust and thoughtful combat system, ensures that it stands out among roguelite card games. For players interested in tactical challenges and stories that go beyond typical fantasy tropes, Tacape delivers a memorable journey filled with both challenge and charm. The game’s artistry and thoughtful design invite players not only to test their strategic acumen but also to immerse themselves in a vibrant cultural tapestry rarely seen in this genre. Rating: 8/10
