Overall, I did not like the game. I did not end up finishing the game, but I played the game for maybe an hour and thirty minutes and within that time I did not once get to make a single choice. For me playing the game was like watching a bad movie. The art was decent, and the coding was fine from what I could tell. Unfortunately, the dialogue and story were lacking. The intro to the game was the first problem. The main character starts by talking to an online friend out in the woods somewhere. To my immense confusion they go degenerate gamer on the script. I swear the friend said touch grass at least once every time they talked together, like how many times can you say your friend doesn't go outside while he's doing things like fishing or working? Fortunately, the gamer slang is mostly saved for the online friend. However, that doesn't stop the dialogue from hovering over boring topics and explaining weird things to the android. I think the biggest beef I had with the game was the plot. The main character finds a robot lady in the woods who threatens him, so he is forced to bring her home. Then, when we arrive at his home, we find out he has a FIANCEE! So, beginning of the first act we have robot psycho lady who threatened to kill us and our wife-to-be as the love interests. Who would you choose? Killer robot or the person the main character is already in love with? The android has zero appeal here. Side note: I think the online friend should be a love interest. I heard some spoilers about them so I'm just saying if an android is on the table why not the online friend. They have more chemistry with the main character than anyone else and I’d bet that they have more scenes and lines than the rest of the cast too. Just sayin’ *shrug* Anyway, there were other things that I saw that I could talk about, but this is already too long, so I'll stop here. I'd like to apologies to the creator if I hurt your feelings with anything I said. I know making a game is hard and I acknowledge that the art and coding was done well from what I saw. I wrote this review with the hope that this could help you make better games in the future.

I'm not too fond with these story type games, however after playing it for a couple of minutes the story, characters and overall design of the game appealed to me. The game grew on me the more and more as the story progressed and this game has a lot of effort put into it. Great story telling and awesome art. You should definitely give this game a shot.
"Synthetic Fantasy;" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. Square in the middle of what we have come to expect from Steam Direct Ren'Py fan-fictions, this e-book is a high school anime club dropout fan-fiction, this time the author relates his fantasies of having an underaged looking robot girlfriend, so this is equal parts creepy and sheer, utter cringe. Noah, get the boat. It gets worse... the author of this badly written garbage genuinely thought people would pay him $5 to read his fan-fiction about how much he wants to have an underaged looking robot girlfriend. I just threw up in my mouth a bit. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollution. So, just like no professional writing took place here, no professional software development took place, either. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at only 3 concurrent readers... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. The funny thing is, if you wanted to print this book, you'd only need to print 3 copies to satisfy the entire world's demand for it. While this E-book has no up-front cost, you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.
Developer Response!
The author has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
First take this breach of Valve guidelines from a failed e-book writer in the context of his complete and utter failure and incompetence. With a peak reader count of only three people (quite likely abnormal psychologists), this is failure of the worst kind. The reason for the failure I clearly state in my honest and factual review, which the author is enraged enough about that he's willing to breach Valve guidelines to bring more attention to his incompetence and appalling, harmful attitude. This is a little disturbing as the author indicates they started stalking me and feverishly reading through my reviews... either just obsession with me on their part, or desperation to try find something in one of my other reviews that would somehow change the objectively terrible quality of this failed "e-book". Whatever their motivation, creeping on reviewers like this is not okay. The author makes utterly false and libelous statements in an attempt to attack this reviewer, a desperate attempt to draw attention away from the facts surrounding his failure. The "author" argues that I review a lot of games, therefore this e-book review isn't valid or truthful. Huh. If I changed all my other reviews to positive, would the writing of this crap e-book suddenly improve? No. The author seeks any possible angle to throw shade at me personally to discredit my review. You can see what they are trying to do. If this was the only review I have ever written, would that change any of the properties of this game or alter the facts contained in my review? Of course not. My reviews for other games have no bearing on the dismal quality of this failed product. The author accuses this reviewer of trolling, once more an attempt to somehow make this review for his garbage e-book about me, instead of the e-book. This is toxic, unstable, and unacceptable behaviour. Reporting the facts and reasons behind a product failing (which is objectively true) is not trolling, no matter how desperately the author wants to avoid facing the truth. This product was garbage nobody wanted. Finally the author infers the other reviews for this product are real where this review is not, which carries the implication the author has engaged in review manipulation, which is a violation of US Federal law. Since the author has drawn attention to this it's worth pointing out any "positive" reviews for this garbage that was objectively avoided by 130 million gamers on Steam (seriously, SteamDB does not lie), should be taken with a grain of salt, it's likely some or all of them are fake, as they do not correspond to the incredibly low reader count on this e-book garbage. Nothing in the authors pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this garbage e-book fan-fiction to anyone.
I loved the character designs and the story line covered a very cool concept, what would out lives be like if we had AI companions in a physical form? How would that change the lives we live and are AI really capable of love and adapting or is it all illusion created by complex code.
Short and easy visual novel.
This was a fun game, can we have a hidden 3rd ending where you get both Molly and VALA.
I wasn't expecting his online friend to be an A.I. that threw me for a loop
Would you rather have a human or an android who will change to fit your needs?
