Swing scale is a simple foddian grappling game. You would think that being a grappling game, you could gain a lots of speed and momentum, but to prevent skips, the game has a system where going too fast break the ropes, and also doesn't allow you to reset your grappling if you touch the ground with too much momentum. Unfortunately this remove a lots of potential for speedrunning, which suck especially with a finish the game 50 time achievement, but the game still stay fun. There is a variety of obstacle so it's not always the same solution and you can still keep a momentum between each obstacle, as long as its not too fast. From my experience, the level is really punishing toward the beginning but you reach a checkpoint ish area on the second half of the map. There is a computer hidden somewhere that i haven't found yet so maybe more punishing fall when trying to find it. Overall, this is on the easier end of the foddian genre and i enjoyed it.

Swing Scale is a physics-driven platforming game developed and published by Paleap Studio that builds its entire identity around the thrill of momentum-based movement. Rather than relying on combat, storytelling, or extensive character progression, the game challenges players to master a swinging mechanic that transforms every jump, launch, and successful climb into a test of skill. Its straightforward premise masks a surprisingly demanding experience that rewards patience, precision, and a willingness to learn from failure. The heart of the game revolves around a grappling wire that allows players to swing across obstacles and ascend through increasingly challenging environments. At first glance, the controls appear simple and approachable, but the deeper mechanics reveal themselves as players begin experimenting with speed, timing, and trajectory. Every swing requires careful judgment, as momentum must be built and released at exactly the right moment to reach distant platforms or avoid falling. The physics-based design creates a satisfying sense of freedom while also ensuring that mistakes feel entirely the player's responsibility. One of Swing Scale’s more interesting features is its limited hook resource system. Each use of the grappling wire consumes a portion of a gauge that determines how far the hook can travel. This mechanic prevents mindless swinging and encourages strategic decision-making. Players must constantly evaluate the best route forward while conserving their available resources. The result is a game that combines platforming skill with subtle resource management, adding tension to every climb and making successful progress feel even more rewarding. The level design is built specifically to showcase the movement mechanics. Obstacles, gaps, and vertical sections are carefully arranged to challenge a player's understanding of momentum and positioning. As players advance through the game's different stages, they are introduced to increasingly demanding scenarios that require greater precision and confidence. The gradual rise in difficulty creates a strong sense of progression, with each completed section serving as proof of improved mastery over the game's unique traversal system. Visually, Swing Scale adopts a clean and functional presentation. The environments are designed with clarity in mind, ensuring that players can easily identify pathways, anchor points, and hazards. While the graphics are relatively simple compared to larger productions, they effectively support the gameplay by keeping the focus on movement and navigation. The minimalist art style complements the game's design philosophy, emphasizing mechanics over spectacle. The game's appeal largely depends on a player's tolerance for challenge. Swing Scale is not designed to provide instant gratification, and progress often requires repeated attempts and careful experimentation. Players who enjoy demanding platformers and physics-based games will likely appreciate the satisfaction that comes from overcoming difficult sections. However, those seeking a more casual or forgiving experience may find the learning curve intimidating. The game embraces its difficulty rather than softening it, making every achievement feel genuinely earned. Another strength lies in the purity of its concept. Many modern games attempt to blend multiple genres and systems together, but Swing Scale remains focused on refining a single core mechanic. This dedication helps create a cohesive experience where every element serves the central goal of movement mastery. The absence of unnecessary distractions allows players to fully engage with the challenge and steadily improve through practice. Overall, Swing Scale is a focused and rewarding indie platformer that successfully transforms swinging and momentum management into an engaging gameplay experience. Its physics-based mechanics, thoughtful level design, and strategic resource system combine to create a game that values skill and perseverance above all else. While its unforgiving nature may limit its appeal to a niche audience, players who enjoy mastering challenging movement systems will find plenty to admire. The game stands as a solid example of how a simple concept can become compelling when executed with confidence and precision. Rating: 6/10
I'm leaving my review as an older gamer just to say that this game was too frustrating and difficult for me, and after trying over and over to figure it out, I finally gave up and asked Steam for a refund. Sorry.
