Survived By is... Well, was... A very fun game to play. However as of yesterday it would appear that the developers are pulling the plug on this project, refunding any supporters, and will no longer be available in only a few weeks. Unfortunately, if you're curious about this game and reading this review, it's already too late. R.I.P. Survived By, it's a shame to see this potentially great game thrown away.
First of all i just want to say that i find it very funny that most of the negative reviews come from people that spent almost no time playing the game and simply do not understand how the game works. While i do agree that there's currently too many microtransactions most of them are quite unnecessary. You can EARN Premium Currency through doing the daily quests and trading Bloodstones(Daily quest reward) to other players for Premium Currency using the Auction House. I spent 0€ on the game so far and i have 0 problems running the Highest Tier Dungeons, getting the best gear available, crafting, ... The game is not P2W! The problem with the game currently is that it does a terrible job teaching new players how the systems in-game work. That's exactly why most of the negative reviews are a bunch of people saying that the game is P2W when in reality it's not. I earned a bunch of premium currency through playing the game the last few days which let me buy inventory slots and a few cosmetic items. If people take time to learn about these in-game systems the reviews would show a much different story but right now the review section is sadly filled with people saying the game is P2W and that you apparently can't unlock new classes unless you pay real money (Which is BS. Every class is unlockable by simply playing the game. Each of the starting classes unlocks a new one once you get it to lvl 10. Example: You unlock the Druid class by getting Harbinger to lvl 10) because people spend 2 hours playing the game and think that they know the game inside out. You can choose to believe those reviews but if you do so you're definitely missing out.

Really like the game but the pay gates are very annoying, it's what drove me to quit playing. If this game was B2P for like $10-20 without the pay gates, It would be amazing. The devs try to nickel and dime you everywhere. Example-- when you craft an item you can instantly craft it for 2-3 eth (the RL equivalent currency). If you double click without knowning/thinking you get dinged. They purposely made crafting long, and really pipe you down the route of spending money by creating artificial inconviences. I'm really sick of this style of game that's why I am giving this a thumbs down.
Doesn't really seem worth playing, was really excited for it but the inventory space F2P is severely lacking, classes are sold in the cash shop, and crafting is based on timers, and you have to pay to craft more then 1 thing at a time. I was hoping this would replace Realm of the mad god since it got greedy, but It just doesn't feel as tight and keeping track of projectiles is way harder. On top of that this game felt far too easy in comparison, it was kind of a drag grinding up to level 10 by killing monsters and doing dungeons and i never really felt challenged. Just grindy. All in all just not a good F2P model, if you want a good F2P game play better ones like Path of Exile, Warframe, or any of the Skin-only selling MOBA games out there. I spent a ton on Warframe and Path of Exile combined but really dont want to spend a dime supporting this in its current iteration. Helpful and kind community on discord though.
I want to recommend Survived By so bad, but in it's current state I cannot. Much of this game is infected by microtransactions at a scum level but it's not all bad, so let's continue. Survived By has a premise I would attribute to almost the"castlevania" series, (yeah I know, stick with me here), the way different belmonts are related. Your character will perish eventually, in some deep dark cave ruled by a giant Hydra/Plant Crossbreed, or by a Gorgon in a hellish monastery but you'll pass on your knowledge or legacy to your anscestor, through cards, these cards are totally random; however overcoming specific challenges will net you a Rare or Uncommon card, even more difficult challenges would grant you a guarnteed rare or even a legendary card, on these cards could be different ways to change your style of play, like "Critical hit chance increased by %" or "when killing an enemy they explode into a cross pattern and do this % dmg" all cards are upgradable up to lv 50 (talk about that later), and you can eventually make a very powerful anscestor, with the ultimate goals of going through Tier 1-Tier 8 Normal modes Tier 9 (Hard Modes) and then Tier 10, (Raids 1, 2, and 3) I have only seen 1, not even sure if the others are implemented, and finally the well, it's a place where you will find the wraiths, it's a place to sacrifice level 25 (max), and i doing so fight and kill as many of these unholy abominations as possible, each one will give you a currency know as valr, if you manage to kill even one that is, but if you're able to survive for a legnthy amount of time, you will accumulate a vast amount of valr, along with any challenges (things you can do over each character) or achievements (can be completed only once per account), this valr is used to upgrade your cards, you may also accumulate valr by destroying cards you no longer deem necessary. All this comes at a cost of course, and it can get steep quickly "insuring" your items for Electrum at 35 a piece, to pass it on to kin, this currency is paid for with real money; however, Electrum can be traded for Bloodstones but only from others players, via an in-game stall, which the player selling or puying set the rate for that specific trade. A player could do 5 daillies a day amounting in roughy 10-20 bloodstone a day, trade that with other players, and come by Electrum that way, and those dailies are account bound, not character. You could attempt your hand at the auction house, but you'll only have 1 auction slot for both items, and materials, to expand your auction listing it is 1 listing @ 350 Electrum or 3.50 USD. The developers have implemented a new way to purchase inventory space, at 25 bloodstone for every 2 slots and a maximum of 10 slots, or you could buy more space with Electrum at roughly 2.50 USD per 10. Vault space is 350 Electrum which is roughly 3.50 USD per 10. Potions are a necessity in dungeons, or you'll die before really passing on any sort of legacy, they are 1 bloodstone a piece, and you may acquire a free one everyday, they are conveniently untradable and uncraftable; however, you may be lucky/unlucky enough to discover a dangerous or not so dangerous chest in a dungeon, inside you'll find enemies that I would call "elites", but upon their demise the chest will relinquish its juicy reward! The running theme here is this game is good, it's fun to play, it's fun to get cards, and become stronger; however, I personally cannot tell if devs can possibly make this game work for the long haul, as of now I feel they teeter the line between "utter free to play throw away trash and GOLD" I hope they see what they've produced here, and are willing to do more cosmetic stuff, less pocket digging, but time will tell.
Awesome game. Played it since beta and totally loved it. I was playing RotMG before and this is same genre, but it feels like taking it further and giving it pretty nice graphics, effects, skins and a lot more stuff. Initially, your biggest struggle will be getting to lvl 25. Technically it can be done in an hour, BUT, you are very likely going to die. This is one of few games where knowledge and player skill is the most important thing. You may have best gear but still die. And you may have bad gear and do miracles, it will just take more time as your stats and damage will be lower. After you get lvl 25, the game begins. Not only you can die in the world, but there is special place called Well, where lvl 25 characters can go to die. But not without a fight... and rewards. Death avards you Valr, special currency for purchasing Legacies (kind of cards with special powers) that empower your character(s) and stay with you after death. There is also crafting, dungeons, hard mode dungeons and even toughest instances, the raids, where you can receive relics (work similar to potions in RotMG). Each player has own loot. Game also offer paid features. Mostly they are cosmetic or inventory/vault/character/crafting slot upgrade, but some (like Thorns) set provide your quite nice armor for beginners. But don't worry much about P2W, it's designed to be helpful only for beginners and protect them from losing everything early. But if you want to get further, you will need items that are not protected and prepare to die... a lot:) And have fun at it. In the near future they plan to add pets and more content in 2-week intervals, which is pretty nice and they have been fulfilling this promise very well since these cycles started There is way more to find out, but... why won't you check it out yourselves?
Fairly decent gameplay though it doesn't explain it's own systems at all leaving you wondering exactly how things like passing on gear and upgrading cards works. The iventory is extremly poor if you aren't willing to shell out cash. The monetization this game has currently is abysmall and is trying to knickle and dime you for everything including new classes even though the game is in early accsess. I would suggest passing until it recieves some more updates and does some changes to the monetization
Not much content, terrible technical state (both the servers (uptime, rollbacks) and the actual game (optimization, bugs)), missing QoL features and barebone gameplay loop didn't allow this to evolve over time like Warframe has - which was probably the goal, given they allowed this to be publicly accessible in such state.
Wish this game was still around. Even if they had to shut down the servers, I still wished they could have made it single player so that it could still be played. Never found another game that could give the same experience for me.
It's a great game that's sadly time-gated to promote real money purchases like a mobile game. I played for a half hour and did everything I could without paying money. My next option is to wait 18 hours for new quests. Nah, I'm good thanks.
