Surreal Experience is a job simulator blending elements of horror, dark humor, absurdity, and insane difficulty. What may seem like an easy gig holds more secrets and challenges than what initially meets the eye. Can you finish the job and escape with your life?

this is one of the best, if not THE best game of all time. i love surreal experience. it truly is that. a surreal experience. i only play this game after midnight, and i stream it to my friends on discord. i think its time we make surreal experience a global phenomenon. i see potential here folks. so BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!!!
Don't bother. This is basically a bad trash art experience. Probably made during a long weekend, there is nothing artistic or meaningful here, the gameplay challenge is nonsensical and so is the setting.

Surreal Experience is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. This is just a joke game made insincerely as a bit of a cash grab. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. The only assets that were created by the "developer" here are pictures of himself as he wanders around a really badly done, sloppily laid out "office" that's a selection of Unity assets dumped around haphazardly. It's supposed to be some kind of horror "adventure" game, and that is true... when I saw that someone genuinely thought it would be okay to dump this kind of garbage on Steam, I was horrified. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Surreal Experience has the farcical price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. Note: Because this is more of a "joke" game, intended to draw attention from controversy or in the hopes of going viral because it's "so bad it's good" (but it isn't good at all), there's nothing here to offer to serious gamers. As usual, with most awful/joke games, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this game are joke reviews, such as "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" etc. Because most of the reviews are as insincere as the game itself is, the positive review score for this game should be disregarded.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The crux of the developers breach of Valve guidelines is just to argue with a paying customer about what constitutes an asset flip, which I already outlined in my review very clearly. The developer even admits the game assets are taken from Unity. These assets comprise the majority of the assets in the game, the developer did not credit the actual creators of those assets, but instead chose to try mislead gamers into thinking they were the result of the developers own "work". Taking someone else's work, even if you change it around a little, drop it on a (really badly made) map or whatever, putting your name on it, and trying to convince people that it's your work and not someone else's is plagiarism. What's worse than that? Trying to profit from it. Just like the "developer" is doing here. The fact the license permits it is the only difference between this being just an asset flip and being full on copyright infringement. Nowhere did I say this was copyright infringement... I always give the "developer" the benefit of the doubt on that. That's precisely the business model that Digital Homicide had before they tried to sue Valve, and the developers wilful ignorance of these facts and Valve's guidelines make me wonder if he'll be the next developer who tries to sue Valve because he got caught trying to pass off someone else's assets as his own. Digital Homicide didn't start out of the gate trying to cash in on asset flips, their first game was also a genuine attempt at "I paid $100 so I am now a game dev" amateur development, just like this. But look how they ended up. The developer then decides to try to argue with customers about pricing... I had a quick look to see what else you could get for the $4 price tag for trash here, and guess what, it's the same price as Marvel's Avengers. Yeah, a full AAA game which isn't slapped together by taking other people's work and not crediting them. Marvel's Avengers, or this crap... decisions, decisions. The developer also admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. The developer also supplies a mental cope... they argue that nobody played this garbage just because there wasn't much marketing. What a joke. Nobody played it because it's garbage, for the many reasons I supply in my review. It's amazing what some people will do mentally to avoid facing the truth. The developer clearly didn't read my review, or any of the others either, because the number of joke reviews for this game is proportionately high, and the review score overall would change significantly if those false positive reviews weren't there. Not directly the fault of the developer, but while joke reviews are amusing, where they are positive, they create a misleading review score for what is an objectively bad game, and that's something I feel gamers should know about so I always include a mention of that. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
An awesome small horror game that mixes silliness, the pain of working a low-skilled job, and speed running all into one. I highly recommend giving it a go!
If you've ever wondered what 'The Stanley Parable' would be like if experienced through a lens colored by tainted LSD, then this is the game for you. It's slightly Liminal, quite quirky, humorous, and challenging. I've seen others mention a horror-element, but that was absent for me and my experience. It's a 'hunt object/avoid antagonists/accomplish goal with found object' game-loop, and it's better than I expected by multiples. It isn't surreal, but it is odd, and odd will get the job done. There are various maps and modes, including a sandbox mode, and different settings for difficulty. The game is by no means easy, and there are plenty of hidden sequences to keep you guessing. The noise level when confronted is needlessly loud, and for no good reason, so that is a negative aspect that simply makes no sense to include. All in all, there is far more here than I had expected, but then again I got it on sale for $0.39 (it's usually $3.99. Thirty-nine cents? That's a steal!).
10/10 would play for crack again.
20 seconds in and I got already yelled at by my manager. Seems to be similar to Baldis Basics, except this one is a lot stranger. Horror/Surrealist centered Curator: KuriKuration
0.1/10 mostly nothing, and what little it has was in no way enjoyable into the hidden game abyss with you
idk how to win
