An amazing platformer with a funny theme and charm doesn't even begin to describe the experience of Super Marxist Twins. This game is nonstop fun, from start to finish and the worst feature is the lack of people making levels on it's very own level editor. With four different areas and 8 levels each, Super Marxist Twins carries itself on it's wonder gameplay feel, the loveable 16-bit propaganda artstyle and it's bouncy classic soviet music. This game is an entirely different experience for each person to play it as well! Whereas I'm the type to never stop moving (and the game even includes a constant sprint button), other players may find themselves going more methodical, thinking about the placements of their hammers and sickles. The two character mechanic leads to engaging co-op where you both work together to revive and power-up each other, or a creative single player experience where you constantly decide between how you want to engage your next situation. It's a great thing when the only negative thing I could say about the game is that I wished there were more levels, but at $13, it is well worth the price. If these types of platformers are even remotely your thing, or you find yourself looking for a new low-price co-op experience, pick up this game and you won't be disappointed
This game is in early access when I am writing this and it mildly shows in the game play when I played the game. There is almost no reason to ever use the hammer because the sickle fires faster and also goes higher, and won't run into you while you are running. The early levels can be beaten by holding shift and d while spamming both attack buttons and there is no reason to not do this in the later levels besides more and more enemies so you are more likely to get hit, so you may as well stop holding shift. The game is fun but some changes to make the game better IMO is 1. let the grenades hit the pigs (As a buff you could make the explosion larger) 2. add a boss at the end of every world. 3. buff hammers 4. Fix some collision, Sometimes the game feels like a soap dish because I jump and now I am 20 feet back 5. Make the levels in some cases easier to tell where you are going. In some lvl I was just lost trying to figure out where to go Overall for early access and your first game this is a fine game, just needs more time to cook
Great game! The graphics are cool, and the game is enjoyable. I like Mikhail and Ludmil abilities in the game. It is definitely worth it!
Competent platformer that calls back to the classics, down to even the slight slipperyness on your movement. Can tell a lot of it can be done the old school way of holding run and timing jump to maintain momentum without having to stop, but I was only able to do it in a few levels. The dual character mechanics are neat and don't end up being as much of a get out of jail free card as it may appear despite almost always having both characters up, while still managing to be useful to survive sticky situations occasionally. It also has a pretty unique use of damage boosting where you can use one of your characters going down to get an extra jump, reminding me of the use of a certain green dinosaur. Easy drop in/out co-op which can be fun with a buddy, but things can get a little hectic at times causing a slight loss of readability in what's going on. Only real gripe was that V-synch was hard to find, hidden within the framerate dropdown. Early access by a small team of indie devs, so every once awhile there might be some bugs but nothing crazy or out of expectation with the former in mind. All in all if you're a fan of platformers, especially classic ones, then this is an easy recommend. 4 out of 5 Wheat Sheaves from me.
Hey so this is an "out of the box" variation of a super mario platformer. So you know how you loved to run around in super mario brothers throwing fireballs everywhere? Well this is essential to getting through some otherwise tough areas. You upgrade your characters to get their hammer and sickle flinging tools and then you start tossing and cleaning house. However, the enemies are getting smarter as I am progressing and yes you can maul them down good but they eventually put you in some binds especially if the enemies are not in the line of fire of your initial barrage of waterfalling hammers. This is not a political game so don't worry about that..it's just light hearted fun...ie similar to playing good ole tetris. Once you lose your hammer and sickle and start at the last checkpoint, you get into some really difficult situations but that's part of the challenge of the game. I get impatient and don't stop to think carefully at times. I played it a little off and on steam and look forward to catching this little pig character.
Fun Game! as you can tell from the videos it plays similar to old school Mario but the added bonus of throwing hammers and sickles both to beat enemies and break open things was fun!
A fun twist on an old classic that incorporates modern gaming concepts and features. Having lots of fun with it!
Just started playing but this game is super fun! Well made and entertaining, don't sleep on this one!
Bought this after playing it at Pax West. Was really fun then and still fun now. The combat is satisfying, the platforming is good (despite my own coordination) and the musics is *chefs kiss*. The devs are really cool too!
