The sense of details in this game is simply amazing; it very much reminds of the OG Atari ST / Amiga & classic DOS titles but in an up-to-date package that brings some oldschool glory to a new generation of players. The humor is quite refreshing too. Puns, dry-wit humor and taking friendly jabs at ongoing cultural topics in friendly and unexpected ways. The Dyno character himself is endearing and the voiceovers add a lot of character to this exceptional indie title. We definitely need more games like this one!
Super enjoyable metroidvania which has some really fun abilities and makes some really challenging and creative uses for them. Navigation feels mostly just right with it doing a good job at not making you feel super lost while also not being super obvious on where to go either. Boss battles are also really fun although a few of them can be a bit easy to cheese at times and it ends with a genuinely pretty challenging final boss.
«Super DynoStory»
Super Dynostory is a very Simple platformer for even begginers but it can also can be challenging if you change the Diffuculty! (Hard mode, Impossible Mode) Memorable characters with fun dialogue and story but to be honest Voice acting sometimes is Cringe to hear xD But i couldnt figure out how to discover the rest of Mr.Falco Office and also the last power up (11 powers in total) .. Maybe i should give it a other go to figure out this stuff..! :) So i would give it 8/10! fun experience! also be sure to check out my Longplay of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysOO8YZ7EZk
So far, pretty decent. Not as polished as say a Ori and the Blind Forest but it's good fun. :) Would love to hear from the devs!
Fun game with not too much fall off the world nonsense. The run backwards while shooting mechanic is great.
Overall a solid little metroidvania worth checking out Pros: - Good level design in general that doesn't explicitly tell you where to go, but lets you figure it out on your own - Areas have lots of connections to each other and shortcuts open up as you get new abilities - Fun movement tech to unlock and zip around the game with.
The bird in particular is pretty unique, and great to use
- Controls well in general - Levaduck is a poor precious bean and I love him - The writing is completely silly, and while I didn't find all of it funny, it had its moments and I can appreciate a less serious take on the genre.
Zombie Levaduck wishing he was alive again and Jesus Christ himself showing up out of nowhere to resurrect him was incredible
- Some good trolls too.
The single kaizo block right after the save point in the graveyard got me real good and was way too funny and unexpected to be mad at, plus placing it right after the save point was the perfect spot because you don't lose any progress
- Quick respawns - Maybe the most aggressive eel enemies I've seen in a game - Cursed furry subplot - Creative ways to skip cutscenes -
You can save the snake from evil santa :)
- The main villain is a complete dweeb, and I'm here for it - But I'm not a golfer!
(ok maybe I am just a little bit)
- Hard difficulty changes things up by adding more enemies and spikes everywhere, instead of just making you take more damage/have less health (also see cons though) - Very replayable with 3 difficulty levels, some tough achievements, and lots of speedrun potential Cons/suggestions: - I had to turn off the voice acting after a while. I know it's meant to be as goofy as the writing, but I found the experience better (and funnier) with just text dialogue, sorry - The default volume levels in general seem wrong. I had to turn the music up to max and turn sound effects down a few notches to get normal sounding audio levels - The drowning effect is a bit too intense. I don't think the idea itself is bad at all, because it fits the panic of running out of air, but the screen starts to shake so much that it can be hard to see what you're doing - An area completion tracker would be nice. With hearts, you can generally figure out which ones you're missing, but with cameos there doesn't seem to be a way to tell if you've cleared out an area or not - Some bugs found so far: Pressing enter before the title fades in brings up the menu and title screen at the same time. Occasional instances of enemies clipping/teleporting.
In Mr Falco's place, if you jump on Levaduck's back right after shooting, you'll keep shooting even when you're not pressing the button
- Points of no return are always unfortunate to see, although thankfully this one warns you ahead of time - Hard mode can feel too troll-y/romhack-y sometimes. It's just trial and error to put spikes at the end of shinespark sections/blind drops, and covering that one boss room floor entirely in spikes was bizarre. That being said, the game's short length and quick respawns keep it from becoming frustrating
Very good game. Excellent sprite design, gameplay, sound design, and soundtrack. The comedy was a mixed bag in my subjective opinion, with at least three quarters of it being pretty funny (which is good enough for me). The voice acting was also a mixed bag, with Pooch the Furry and Dyno being the best voice acted and Leveduck and Princess Obly being the only characters whose voices I had trouble tolerating. Somehow during my first playthrough (the only one I've done so far), I did not end up fighting Falco. I tried to go to his lair around 85% into the game but he would not interact with me. I assume that I missed something rather than it being a glitch but I feel I should write in just in case. I also noticed that my bird would not always bounce off the ground and would sometimes sort of stick to and glide along it instead. Overall this was a pretty humorous metroidvania type game with great graphics, gameplay, sound design, and music, not unlike Cave Story. It was also reminiscent of Kirby: Super Star and Kirby: Squeak Squad with some of the underwater gameplay and minecart riding, things I thought were a lot of fun both in Kirby games and in this game. Going to update this review after I complete all of the achievements. 8/10 Slimies.
Really amazing game, very humorous and very creative, looking very much forward to Mr Rex's Zealous Adventures
