Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I enjoyed Sunless Sea and the world its set in, but a lot of frustrating and tedious gameplay aspects became apparent almost immediately. At first, I championed the idea of a story-based RPG roguelike, but quickly I regretted that. This game repeatedly tells you to play it on a permadeath mode, which means you lose your save when you die. This adds tension and means you get to play it just a little bit differently with the next captain you play. It adds to the atmosphere in the setting: the Sunless Sea feels dangerous and it makes succeeding all the more impressive. It does, however, fail in some regards. While I greatly enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere, I didn't enjoy having to replay certain story quests with seemingly little difference between the previous playthrough. I see that there are some choices and branching paths but they often fall in the "good" and "basically softlocking yourself bad" categories. Sunless Sea is a story, and an interactive one at that. It is also a game, which means that there is a "winning" and "losing". As much as I tried roleplaying a veteran captain who tried his luck on the unforgiving Zee, I kept thinking about just how bad I was screwing myself over with certain choices, and occasionally dipped into the wiki and forums to find out what I was doing wrong and how I could do things better. I understand that this might also just be a "me-problem", but I feel that the games tedium and, in my opinion, poor replayability really hurts it as a roguelike. I should mention that I did watch that Rock Paper Shotgun youtube video on Sunless Sea, defending the roguelike design and the tedium as an achievement, not a flaw. I almost agree with it in theory, but in practice I feel like maybe there's a reason Fallen London started as a text-based browser game.

At 66% off, this game is a hidden gem that should, at the very least, be a unique experience for you. The game toys a lot with risk and reward in ways that feel thrilling and intriguing. It's slower paced(most of the time) and punishes you for not calculating all of the risks, but I found a massive joy in pushing myself past difficult situations, hell, even to the point of death to my character, to discover more about the world and the limits of it. My biggest advice to newer players is to experiment. Try differents endings, try maxing out a certain stat. Try things you know will kill you or cripple you. The joy in this game is discovering all of the complex writing the game has to offer. I can feel the love and excitement that the writers had for this game. This is another one of those games that I wish I could play fully blind again, because exploring the map end to end, discovering new creatures, threats, and relationships, is absolutely exhilarating to me. I settle for peddling it to any of my friends who might have the patience. The sluggish, sometimes frustrating, ship combat and some of the repitition of port events are certainly a means to and end, but in my opinion, the sum of its parts is something that drove me crazy with curiosity and adoration. I felt rewarded for putting in effort to unturn as many stones as I could, and I hope you will too.
I genuinely do like this game however there are a few major flaws and because of that I can't recommend the game. The game has a mysterious world with interesting lore but it doesn't fully explore them. It soon becomes an overused novelty. It is also incredibly tedious and the overall balancing of resources in the game feels bad. This is something I will preach to every dev and player, making a game more tedious or grindy does not make the game more difficult or challenging. There are a lot of ways to die solely from rng and in a game that has a permadeath mode, that is really awful. The game is also slightly buggy from my experience. I was moving from one area to another and then it told my entire crew died. Because of all the above reasons, I'd suggest you not play the game or play it on merciful mode.
game is good game, but no Chinese paly ge chui zi
游戏中在地下海航行的过程十分恼人,浪费了很多时间。如果换作小说,120 小时的游戏时间所阅读的游戏文本可能只需 1 个晚上就能读完。
The atmosphere of the game is very interesting, but the gameplay is extremely slow and brutal. Like some other negative reviews, this game doesn't have much of an economy and the world is quite static; you have two primary resources, fuel and supplies and it seems like a real slog to try and get more as you run out. After 4x hours, I don't have the time to find the fun; I'm a dad of an 10.5 month old and I barely get time to play any games. Given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I'm surprised this game didn't deliver for me.
