Sun Spear

Short game for a single playthrough that comes with some technical issues. The game tells a story about the darkness and the chosen one who has to stop it. His main tool in accomplishing this is the sun spear that comes with a cool feature. Although it can be used to stab foes, it is far safer and more effective as a ranged weapon. Holding down the throw button charges the attack, increasing its damage. However, even if you simply toss it, the spear deals decent damage and can even pass through many targets. The spear must be recalled after each throw. However, if you move to the right spot, you can attack the adversary again when the spear comes back. This maneuver is useful against adversaries with shields that cannot be attacked directly. The final move is an extremely useful area attack that takes a few seconds to recharge. This attack is triggered from the spear, so you may throw it in a group and trigger it. Enemies aren’t that interesting. There are only a handful of different types, and they all look like a black humanoid creature. Bosses are a bit more unique but they don’t pose that much of a threat. They can be killed the same way as normal enemies. Depending on how you look at it, the small number of enemies might not be a problem because the game is very short and not that difficult. The graphics are decent. Despite the overall desert looks, there are plenty of unusual things and places to keep you interested. However, there isn't much reason to explore. There are a few hidden goats, but they only important if you want to complete all of the achievements. The game is linear, so getting lost is impossible. A number of flaws might have a minor or major impact on the gameplay. Minor are subtitles, which can be difficult to read due to the bright colors and environment. Another are clipping issues, which include fences, certain walls, and people you can walk through. You won't clip through something and fall indefinitely, but if you stray from the main path, you might tumble over the cliff. This same issue might turn into a major one. Because enemy fights take place in an arena that becomes closed with walls, you can sometimes trigger this if you wander too far. For instance, the final boss battle locks you out of the arena. This can be fixed by quitting and continuing the game. Unfortunately, this create another major issue with saving. While you will continue from the same spot you saved on, everything else will reset. This includes mission objectives, the number of found collectibles, and any achievement progress. It’s not fun when you explore everything, only to not earn them because you had to quit playing. To make things worse, starting a new game marks some goats as already found, so you can’t earn the achievement. Also, the achievement for not dying is broken.

Harder than Dark Souls. 100% more goats. 10/10

Die Story war sehr generisch, liegt hier aber auch nicht wirklich im Fokus. Es hat etwas einen Zelda the Windwaker Vibe mit der Großmutter und den verschiedenen Gegnern zu beginn allerdings hat mir trotz der hübschen Welt etwas die immersion gefehlt. Die Figur war etwas steif und die SFX Asynchron bzw. mit vielen Inputs schnell überfordert. Rating: Dito: 3.4/5 Chat: 2.7/5 Gesamt: 3.05/5

Very cool, I liked the way the spear works. Exploding it just at the right time can feel very satisfying.

Short and simple, but cute! Surprisingly challenging. Worth the low price.
