PBR standard texturing tool.. what more to say? Always a pleasure to use and super flexible and non destructive like no other in its workflow.
You know, when I bought this software, I was expecting to get all future versions like 2019, 2020, 2021, etc. as a future updates. Because I'm not a billionare to buy a software coming out every year, that costs me a lot of money even when it has 75% discount. These guys actually thinking I MUST do this to get a new features, like real-time preview and exporting of Displacement map. I can paint displacement map, but I can't export it. Instead of what I expected, these guys just throwing me malicious updates, software version still stays 2018.x.x. This is what you call *using licensed software*, huh? If I could only imagine this will be my *licensed software expirience* I would never burn my money into this waste, and continue using yo-ho-ho edition. Thx guys, ♥♥♥♥ you.

Can't even describe on how great this program actually is. It is so good that I am actually relying on this program if it comes to finishing up my model. I used cycles render on blender before and it was such a pain to use. With this program however, I can easily make high quality materials with amazing features to put on my models with ease. Some people also complained about the seperate product from Substance Painter 2 to 2018 for 30 bucks. I was at first skeptical about this as well, but the new version has so many things that makes it better. I tried running them seperately to see the differences so I know. Anyways the only bad thing about this program, is its frequency in crashing while doing the Iray rendering. Which is how I lost some of my projects which i had to start over again (my fault completely, it made me save every minute). The other bad thing is how often I have to save seperate files, because for some reason the files are set to read only after opening them again. It is strange and I am pretty sure there are options to disable that or something. But you know, lazyness can get to me at some instances. Overall, highly recommend this for Blender, 3DS Max and Maya. It generally makes the general workflow much better and increases in the quality on what you make. I can also probably recommend Substance Designer as well.

Awesome product to use, I tried a free 30 day trial of the product and purchased it soon after. It has a bit of a learing curve to it so I recomend going to Allegorithmic Substance Academy, YouTube, or GameTextures.com and pick up on some of the basics (They all offer something for free)
Some time ago i was testing the free trial version of Substance Painter; some time later I decided to to buy it and now I've been working with it for some weeks. Even though the price is high, you get a great PBR texturing Software with 12 month maintenance; I use the software in combination with blender and I'm content with the workflow between both programs. However I can recommend it, but you should try the free trial version first, so you can see if you want to spend the money for it.
Great Software and really cheap
*will get back to the price down the line Here are some PROs and CONs I found using Substance Painter for about an year. PROs 1. Really versatile software , you can do whatever you want the only limit is your imagination. 2. Great community-Libraries, if you do not own Substance Designer, some of the artists post pretty often good materials and other stuff for free use 3. The new updates 2018 improved the GUI a lot, you can easily work with 2-3 Monitors now and dock/undock panels around and make it better 4. The ANCHOR POINTS function is something you would dream of doing in other software packs that easily, quick to understand and to implenet in your workflow and I should've added this as point 1 instead of 4. 5. Fast and quick render previews with decent quality , although it is not yet a "keyshot" or a "marble" renderer the IRAY RENDERER (F10) gives you fast and unique solutions for in-software renderings/captures. 6. Dozens of brushes, masks and materials that can cover everything you need to do while texturing. And if those are not enough you can import your own and be even more cooler. 7. great resources online to learn and solve any issues you might encounter. CONs 1. While this software is quite "new" and under constant development, I keep stressing for the same things, like for example the not so very user friendly + and - Value Shifter which is never precise and it's frustrating when you need to be extra precise. Not there yet but I am confident it will get there. 2. The new TDR Value (timeout detection recovery) implementation requires you to fiddle around with your registry and that is a dangerous path in my opinion. 3. Not very helpful/responsive community, at least I have never had that much help when asking stuff on the forum. 4. Few updates during one year term, I suppose only one major and other fixing bugs, but for the price it is not a problem. I totally advice this software if you are constantly working with textures, It will become a must have kit if it isn't already. Buy with confidence. *back to the subtitle you should all get it while it's really cheap (honestly it is less than good camera lens, or a decent phone, it's actually a 2 weekends out for pizza for you and your gf or bf), my specs: CPU - i7 55820K GPU - Inno 3D gtx 1070 RAM - 64gb ddr4 MONITOR - ♥♥♥♥ hp my website: www.oxhid3.com my artstation: www.artstation.com/oxhid3
My last copy of Substance Painter from Allegorithmic
The good part about this software is that texturing, painting, and the ability to mess around all that channels is great because Painter offers you a wide range of tools to generate literally any effects you want. BUT, time for a rant, I would suggest you use the Toolbag or even Blender for baking normal maps and AO...etc. Painter's baker is easily the absolutely worst f**king piece of sh1t ever. It doesn't even have the ability to exclude certain UV tiles from generating occlusions when baking AO. The only way for the 'self-occlusion by mesh name' option to work is if you have a high poly mesh. But what they've failed to consider is not every model has a high poly version and you absolutely don't have to have a high poly mesh to bake AO. While in Blender you can SIMPLY hide the geometry if you don't want it to be considered in the process of calculating the occlusions. This is all beyond frustrating and I can't believe a software that cost me 100 bucks don't even have such simple function already implemented.
This is my favourite program, I used to do my textures in photoshop before, but when I saw this way of "painting" Textures, my mind was just blown away. This is a very intuitive workflow, If you have not tried this to texture, Please use the 30-day trial and see for your self what you can do. Also, My first CG artist professional work was to paint a scene with Substance Painter 2018! I'm in love! I aspire to be on the cover of the program. This is a big shot but I will try it none the less. Pros: Intuitive UI Real-Time texturing Rendering mode (iRay) Procedural textures Cons: Why didn't you appear before!
