Bitmap2Material is an incredibly powerful tool that helps you generate full, seamlessly tiling materials from any bitmap image. This now includes all PBR (Physically-Based Rendering) channels, based on the most accurate conversion algorithm out there.

This is what I've been waiting for. I've got a largish library of materials for a game project I'm working on that need to be updated to the new shading model for UE4. I authored a lot of my environmental tiling textures in the original Bitmap2Material and using this new build I'm able to move my texture library to PBR a lot easier than doing it by hand, which is a major feature because I don't have an army of texture artists. Also, with this new version of B2M it's easy to remove lighting/AO from source textures and make a passably correct PBR textures in a few mouse clicks. As a solo indie developer this is a godsend in a lot of ways. Prototyping should be much faster now.
Quick and dirty of it. Adobe bought Allgerethmic. Stand alone is gone off their web sight now. As far as I know Steam is the only place to still get stand alone. Why this matters? Subscriptions SUCK and don't work at all for low use, hobby types, students, folks just growing their skills on their time. Like heck NO am I shelling out like 400 bucks a month for the various programs I use on subscriptions. Ya ADOBE, I am still using Photoshop I bought out right and I CAN'T buy a new version now can I? I have substance painter stand alone I got last year but now I am scrambling to get all the other Substances I use or want to get skills with as subscription scheme is horrid for me. I am a want to be professional at the junior/mid level. Some of my skills are totally current and some are not. On my puny budget I can buy B2m3 out right for 100 bucks or pay 20 bucks a month for 12 months forever which does NOT EQUAL 100 bucks. Considering you might not even use or need one of these products all the time, why get stuck in strange buy/cancel/pay penalty crap subscriptions. In the case of B2M3 even without support or upgrades do to the adobe model you're probably going to be fine. For Painter and Designer.... oh my. We got HOSED. If you need to just get some PBR materials into an engine using photos in a hurry this works. But to create substances you need Substance designer and then probably substance painter. ALthough you can probably skip B2M3 if you are after creating just substance materials and just get designer. There are ways to plug in photos and get what you want via Substance Designer. If you are running around taking photos of stuff for textures/materials however, this can get that stuff in engine pretty quick with a legit PBR pipeline. The OLD ways of proper unwrapping and dealing with texture seams still apply and you can exploit those skills pretty quick with photos and this program. Alas, Adobe. I now hate you as much as Autodesk.

Edited: If you don't have Bitmap2Material I definitely recommend it. This program is almost magic when it comes to quickly creating/perfecting materials. Whoever does their image recognition software is a saint(too much?). If you already own the original B2M: Pros: Very similiar to the original Bitmap2Material but can output Roughness, Metallic, and glossiness. Cons: Doesn't seem to improve image recognition (but it's still the best around).
Very very easy to use, creates nice tiling textures along with all the maps you may need from any photograph with some tweaking. The viewport has couple of shaders to test how the material looks with the current maps. If you are authoring PBR content it's possible to remove light effects from the diffuse map which is another plus. You don't even need a tutorial to learn how to use this, just takes 5-6 minutes to go over all the settings and learn how it works. Recommended.
This software is very good for those who like their indie games to look alittle more proffesional without any struggle. This is a very easy to use software and has helped me with my small groups game we are developing. We use the Unity3D engine which this software works super smooth with. I've heard just the same thing about the CryEngine aswell! I strongly recomends this product to those who are making indie games!
I use a lot of photosource for my tiling textures, and this is an amazing tool. It's very intuitive to use after following along with Allegorithmic's video walkthrough, which takes you through all the stuff you need to get started. The normal maps this program generates are miles better than anything Photoshop generates, and you get all the other PBR slots like Height maps, and whatnot, which really pushes the texture to new levels. This is a must buy for anyone serious about environmental art. The only "gotcha" is that some maps are exported as greysale, which Unity can't read naturally, so you have to change thme to RGB in photoshop, but once you do that you're gold. I plopped everything into the standard shader and after tweaking how intense I wanted each thing to be, it all looked great.
软件不错,好用,常用的贴图都可以生成。可以看成是SD的一个特殊功能的简化版本。遗憾的是万年不更新和不能直接保存为SD材质。所以,对于有SD的人来说,这个软件用处不大。 Good software, easy to use, can be used to generate the map. Can be seen as a simplified version of a special feature of SD. Unfortunately, it is not frequently updated and cannot save the file as SD material. So, for those who have SD, this software is not useful.
Cant use it through steam, every time I tried to do anything other than launch it, it wouldnt work. However, allegorithmic allows you to transfer your steam key to your allegorithmic account, if you do that you can download a working client from them. So if its on sale, I'd say go ahead and get it on steam, if not just buy from the allegorithmic site and save yourself the headache,.
This software is no longer launching. Which Shouldn't be allowed to happen.
Broken as of 2022.
