This is not a simulation, it's an arcade game, fun for 20 minutes.

Simple user interface with increasing levels of difficulty. Cannot launch torpedoes when underwater. Hard to focus on enemy ships who have the element of surprise. Destroyers always know where the submarine is in the water and persist in attacking. Lining up a torpedo run requires diligence under pressure and is not always successful. Better than arcade with explosive graphics from ships being sunk. It's meant to be enjoyed as a game, yet can feel very real. Thumbs Up !! For Submariners everywhere.
Hello/Bonjour Developer Deyin Song, When I was a kid back in the sixties, my mom would let me play "Periscope" at Montréal Bonaventure train station. The big arcade style machine, had it's inner workings all in electric and mechanical systems. No fancy electronics here, just synchronized luminous bulbs, and immersive sound effects. Of course Submarine War is not a U-Boat style complex game, but it triggered my nostalgia memories big time. It runs smoothly, pretty good graphics, and a little strategy towards the middle of the levels. My O.S is still on stable W-7/64 for simulation (flight, train, naval) purposes only. Tips here: From the start of an advanced numerical level, go submerged fast. Observe from underwater (you are shielded then) the depth charges aimed at the Submarine. You then identify and sink the ship(s) that are shooting at you, then finish off the rest. Diving often before incoming salves of hostile(s) are absolute top priority. I hope that Submarine War will have the compatibility of a Controller in the near future. The proven wired Logitech F310 X Box style comes to mind. Please do not change the game difficulty level, it is perfect like it is. No danger of the game spoiling "rage quit' syndrome here. Many thanks to Developer Deyin Song, for bringing back those found memories. Also, thank you to my regretted mom that inserted so many quarters in Periscope. Playing time was ended when our departure train was called out on the public address speakers in the huge train station. Indeed, a very cool mom.
