Grapple needs some work but either way the game is pretty good.
I think the grapple & wall run physics need some work, either that or I'm just dumb and can't understand them.' Fun game though.

A game with one of my favorite mechanics, graplinghooks, also wallrunning. It has a nice story, small but it's there. Portal, but more of a movement fps with puzzles (actually a box and large button). The game mechanic and levels has challenge and can be mastered. It even has a sandbox for just enjoying the grapling and running around, and an arena with that but also has enemies to shoot. Get it, play it a bit, and have fun. Thx Devs! And I've seen the dev room..
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content, in this case text to speech.
"Sub0ptimal" is a student project self-published on Steam Direct. Student projects might look better than amateur shovelware (in this case it doesn't), but they aren't real games. This is just a glorified homework assignment. It lacks the depth and value you get from professionally developed product because it was made for a grade, not for players. Schools, colleges and universities shouldn't be using Steam to show off student projects. It might be fine for the school's marketing, but it clutters the Steam store with pollution... we have to sort past all these short student tech demos just so we can find real, full games from professional developers. This is a case of a game dev college putting its own interests before the interests of gamers. The students looked around at all the various games available on Steam, well over a hundred thousand games, and decided to make and publish one that is worse. This one blends the tired and overdone parkour grappling hook mechanic popularized by failed amateur projects and combined it with some of the worst FPS shooting ever to worsen Steam, and decided to present it with some of the laziest graphis on Steam. It's a disaster. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. The graphics here are particularly awful, low poly placeholder tier garbage that would appeal to nobody, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. On the important matter of pricing and value for gamers, there's a lot going on here with monetisation, so this really shouldn't be considered a truly free product because of that. There's no initial download price, but the students have their hand out for a "donation" for this as you're expected to give them money through CashApp... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Students should never under any circumstances expect people to give them money for making Steam worse with their homework assignments. This is never okay. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Keep in mind this student project won't increase your game collector count or show up in your Steam profile showcases, and because it's a short, unpolished and unmaintained student homework assignment, I can't recommend you spend your valuable time on this one when you could be playing any of the thousands of fully made games for gamers. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere. At least they got the name right.
