Fantastic game with great maps. Each of the maps offering a distinctly different experience playing them. The gameplay itself is great with a good learning curve (Might take slightly longer if your like me and have to learn to turn off the muscle memory from the Tony Hawk games.) The tricks look rad and feel really good to pull off especially around the gaps throughout the maps. The message system I really find charming from its helpful tips for how to do tricks and the messages you get from unicyclists all really help to add more connection to the game to the unicyclists you get to play as. Each of the unicyclists messages especially helping to give a taste of personality for them as characters that might otherwise not have been displayed. The choice of music, unicyclists, control scheme and level designs all really fit together to deliver a concrete style that really helps it to stand out as its own unique game. The PSX nostalgic style perhaps fitting better here than any other of the games I've seen use it as it allows the environment to pop more. An absolutely spectacular game that at time of review I'm happy to know I have much more to enjoy of it and will likely enjoy free roaming around the maps many, many times.
Awesome game. Controls are a bit difficult, but it has the same satisfaction as actual street unicycling if you are able to land the tricks.
Amazing soundtrack, and fun game. I wouldn't get this expecting something like Tony Hawks Underground, its more in line to the period of games when THPS first released and devs where toying around with the game play. That being said, controls dont copy tony hawk, but they somewhat mimic them; takes a second to get used to but not long at all. I personally enjoy the skill ceiling these games provide. That being said I love these games and im glad this exists lol
An amazing game obviously going after the PS1 extreme-sports formula and succeeds extraordinarily well at that. While it takes a minute to get used to the control scheme starts to just flow really well in its THPS almost style of input. Just really unique, I enjoy the more retro extreme sports games so it's fun seeing an actually New game that just very much feels exactly from that era. Of course if you want something that looks better there are options, but this game does exactly what it set out to do in a really fun and engaging manner.
Its really good I just wish there was more maps.
this game owns bones and rules. a control scheme that is easy to pickup but difficult to master, stages that are a delight to replay, a trick combo system that builds on the tony hawk's pro skater lineage, and clear attention paid to the way it all feels together. if you've ever enjoyed an extreme sports game in the past or even just think you might enjoy them, this is an easy recommend. the music is also rad as hell
Like THPS but with fewer wheels, so you can focus all your attention on sick combos.
There is a lot of heart and a lot of style in this game. A full commitment to an age and a vibe that really needs to be seen and felt. A love letter to staying up until midnight with a friend and a litre of sprite and too many sugar gummies until our thumbs ached and our throats rasped from cheers and jeers.
really awesome game greatly recommend everyone buy it c:
I mainly played this on my Nintendo Switch 2, but I owned a copy on Steam and wanted to share my thoughts here for anyone curious on grabbing a copy
This can easily be described (and has been) as "PS1 era Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but with unicycles", but it's so much more than that. It's also taking elements of the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX with the way you control the unicycle, which adds a degree of challenge to it if your brain is wired like mine from playing so much THPS in your lifetime. My first run of this took forever because I absolutely sucked at it, but I felt how much I was improving with later runs, with my last few playthroughs of the career mode taking less than ten minutes. Extreme sports games haven't challenged me in over two decades now and it was refreshing (and a wake up call) to have one that did force me to teach myself the mechanics of a new game. You can tell this game was made with a lot of love, from the messages you get about certain locations in levels and the credits literally thanking everyone who helped with developing this and inspiring certain elements (both personally and famous people, like Tony Hawk himself). The soundtrack in this kicks ass too and I discovered a bunch of new stuff I hadn't heard before, but it wouldn't had felt out of place from DIY shows that I hit up locally (shout out to drive your plow over the bones of the dead, I bought a copy of their album right after I heard their song spirit incantation in this). This was just an amazing time that unlocked something for me that I've been searching for since I got addicted to extreme sports video games and I'm stoked to see how daffodil keeps on improving on the formula, because I'll be there to support no matter what
