About

Discover the importance of breathing during moments of stress or anxiousness.
Learn how to control your breathing to achieve serenity and calmness.
Solve a series of fun puzzles with a multitude of gameplay mechanics.
The Story Ace is a young teen who starts to feel anxious about kicking off their day at school. As they head towards the school entrance, their anxiousness begins to grow and intensify until they experience an intense panic attack. Feeling scared and overwhelmed, Ace gets closed off into a warped mind world where they now need to find a way out.
With the help of their companion Zen, Ace learns the proper timings and physical stance for the Belly Breathing technique, which they can now utilize to expel their anxiousness and colour the way forward.
Gameplay In this mind world, Ace must navigate a disjointed version of their school by performing a series of simple platforming challenges, breathing the anxiousness away, and solving an array of puzzles.
Upon entering each new section of the school, mental blockers and a lack of colour fill the surrounding area, making it difficult for Ace to achieve their goal of escaping.
By finding a calm space to center themselves, Ace can perform Life Breathing to bring colour back bit by bit and remove their mental blockers.
Use the power of controlled breath when interacting with breathing terminals to inflate and deflate large balloons, change the directional air flow of fans, and rotate platforms to move forward.
To progress to the next section, find and place large books into their proper shelves to open doors and move on to the next page of the Ace’s journey.

wow this was fun and really well made, you should be proud of what you created here. The message and concept of this game is perfectly clear, when things seem difficult or challenging or impossible or confusing, just stop take a moment and breath, once you do that the answer will be clear. What a beautiful game. Bravo!

'Stop and Breathe' is a 3D puzzle platformer that teaches a breathing technique designed to help with anxiety. It features multiple platforming challenges and puzzles, 12 levels spread across 4 different sections, and 1 Steam achievement. The game took me about 30 minutes to complete, including unlocking the achievement, and offers a single ending with a convenient save feature after each level. The simplicity of the gameplay makes it accessible to players of all skill levels, with clear instructions and a straightforward objective: to explore Ace’s story and, with Zen’s help, learn how to calm your mind through the breathing technique. Based on the overall challenge, I would rate the difficulty as 3 out of 10. This game delivers a thoughtful and uplifting experience that blends gentle gameplay with an important emotional message. From the very first moments, it stands out for how sincerely it approaches anxiety, presenting it as something to understand and work through rather than something to fear. The story of Ace is relatable and compassionate, capturing the quiet dread that can come with everyday situations like starting a school day. Being drawn into a warped mind world during a panic attack serves as a powerful and clear metaphor, and the journey back toward calm feels meaningful and personal. Zen acts as a reassuring presence, offering guidance and support in a way that feels natural and comforting. The gameplay closely reflects the game’s themes. Light platforming and clever puzzles are combined with breathing-based mechanics that feel intuitive and rewarding. Using controlled breathing to restore color, clear mental blockers, and interact with the environment creates a strong connection between the player’s actions and Ace’s emotional progress. Watching the world gradually regain its color as calm returns is particularly satisfying. What truly sets the game apart is its focus on mindfulness. Teaching belly breathing and encouraging moments of stillness makes relaxation an active part of play rather than just a narrative idea. The game is both engaging and soothing, offering a unique experience that feels genuinely helpful. In conclusion, 'Stop and Breathe' is a warm and creative game with a heartfelt message. It balances fun puzzles, meaningful mechanics, and emotional storytelling to create an experience that is calming, memorable, and thoughtfully designed. Let's start by saying this: as a student project (which this game is), it is well done and well-executed, and it is built on a good idea. Given the scope of the game (and its resources for development), I will avoid to cherry pick and comment on details such as the general graphic or the animations. One last thing on the positive side: my compliments to the authors for this project, and as a developer myself with a focus on color accessibility, I must also say that I really appreciated the usage of colors and the general art direction. I wish you the best for the future! Now, to the criticisms: first of all, I found weird how this game teaches about Belly Breathing meditation - which requires one hand on the chest and one on the belly (as the game rightfully says) - but doesn't allow you to get a correct form while playing. By that I mean that if you're playing with the controller (which is the intended way), you will need to have both hands on the controller to proceed with the breathing minigame, which is quite impractical to achieve while having one hand on the chest and one on the belly. The second critique, is that all puzzles and platforming sections are insanely trivial. If we combine this with the fact that the game doesn't do anything particular for teaching the Belly Breathing technique (which is quite simple), the question of what's the point of playing this game arises. It's true that is only half an hour long and it's free to play, but I still asked myself the question while playing it: one could simply watch a significantly shorter video on the topic and that's it. I believe that it is perfect and entertaining for a young audience, and I advise it for parents to make it play to their children. But I think that the majority of adult gamers will just dislike this game and would rather just watch a short video to learn this kind of meditation if they're interested in the topic.
This is a very simple, straight-forward game that has you doing breathing techniques in order to unlock puzzle mechanics, and it WORKS. Played it on stream where I always have high anxiety and playing through the game and doing the exercises helped!
Nice message, going from colourless to colourful really is calming and satisfying. A nice free puzzle game that definitely is quick and easy to go through :)
Cool concept for a platformer where you have to control your breathing to calm down and see the way through the rooms. This was covered as part of this week's episode of Free2Play Weekly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVITE6CbT1Q&t=1047s
