About
Grab your pickaxe. Tighten your beard. Try not to blow up the kingdom.
Stonewards is a solo and 1-4 player co-op first-person roguelite defense game where a band of battle-ready dwarves leaves their base camp to answer distress calls from nearby dwarven kingdoms. Each mission sends you to a threatened stronghold on the edge of disaster. Your job is simple: dig fast, forge smart, and defend like your beard depends on it.
Monsters are coming. The walls are cracking. The horn is about to sound.
After each wave, rush into procedurally generated mines to gather precious metals, rare materials, and whatever shiny rocks look important enough to steal. Explore twisting tunnels, uncover hidden caves, and haul your loot back before the next attack begins.
Take too long, and your friends will be defending the kingdom one dwarf short.
And yes, they will complain about it.
A dwarf without a forge is just an angry short man with excellent facial hair.
Between waves, spend your mined resources to craft arrows, repair defenses, and unlock randomized upgrades. Stack raw strength, strange powers, tougher walls, or trust your team’s latest “brilliant” plan. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
The monsters have one goal: breach the stronghold and bring the kingdom down.
Hold the walls, cover the gates, coordinate with your crew, and use every crafted tool at your disposal. When the enemy pushes through your outer defenses, fall back, regroup, and remind them why attacking a dwarven stronghold was a terrible idea.
If the kingdom falls, the mission is over.
If you survive, drink later. Dig now.
1-4 Player Co-op & Solo - Rally the crew or go full lone-dwarf. Whether you fight alone or with up to three friends, the monsters are coming either way.
Answer the Call of the Dwarven Kingdoms - Travel from your base camp to defend nearby dwarven realms against incoming monster attacks. Each mission is a desperate stand for survival.
Mine the Mountain - When the wave ends, the clock starts. Dive into procedural mines, gather valuable resources, and get back before the next horn sounds.
Stockpile & Forge - Bring your loot back to craft arrows, repair walls, and unlock randomized roguelite upgrades that shape each run.
Hold the Line - Take your place on the walls, defend the stronghold, and stop the horde before they overwhelm the kingdom.
Dig Deep. Forge Hard. Defend Harder.

Stonewards presents a spirited combination of first-person action, roguelite progression, resource gathering, crafting, and fortress defense built around the enduring fantasy of heavily armed dwarves protecting their underground kingdoms. Developed and published by Banana Tiger Studio, it places players in dangerous territories where survival depends on more than simply defeating monsters. Every expedition involves deciding how aggressively to search for resources, which improvements deserve priority, and how much preparation is necessary before another enemy assault reaches the stronghold. This combination gives the game an entertaining rhythm that constantly shifts between exploration, planning, and frantic combat. The basic gameplay cycle is one of its strongest qualities. After surviving an attack, players receive an opportunity to venture into procedurally generated mines and collect metals and other valuable materials. Exploration is therefore directly connected to survival rather than existing as a separate activity. Better resources can provide stronger options for the next battle, but spending too much time searching underground introduces its own risks. The limited preparation window encourages efficiency, especially when valuable materials tempt players to continue deeper into unexplored passages. This creates a satisfying tension between greed and responsibility that fits the dwarven theme surprisingly well. Resources gathered underground feed into the forging and defensive systems. Materials can be turned into ammunition, repairs, and other practical necessities, while randomized upgrades provide the roguelite element that changes how individual runs develop. Rather than following exactly the same progression path every time, players must consider the options they receive and construct a workable strategy around them. Some combinations may encourage aggressive combat, while others can make defensive preparation more valuable. The randomized structure also makes experimentation worthwhile because an unusual selection of upgrades can force players away from familiar tactics. Combat becomes considerably more intense when enemy waves reach the kingdom. Players must defend important structures, eliminate approaching monsters, repair damage when possible, and prevent the attackers from overwhelming the stronghold. Defensive positions can be lost, creating situations where the group has to retreat and establish another line rather than immediately losing the entire mission. This layered approach makes a collapsing defense particularly exciting. A battle that begins under control can rapidly turn into a desperate struggle when enemies breach an important position, creating memorable recoveries as well as spectacular failures. Stonewards supports solo play, but its mechanics are particularly attractive for online cooperative sessions with as many as four players. Team play allows responsibilities to develop naturally. One player can focus on gathering resources while another prepares defenses, and different characters can pursue upgrades that complement one another. Communication becomes especially valuable when deciding whether to continue exploring a mine or return to the kingdom before another attack. Cooperative play also enhances the game's deliberately humorous personality, since chaotic mistakes and overly ambitious mining expeditions can become part of the entertainment rather than simply frustrating setbacks. Procedurally generated caves provide uncertainty between expeditions, with twisting routes, resources, and hidden opportunities encouraging exploration rather than simple route memorization. Multiple caves, different enemies, character progression, and longer-term unlocks provide additional reasons to continue playing beyond a single successful defense. The game is currently structured as an Early Access experience, so its content and overall balance should be viewed as evolving rather than final. Its existing foundation already establishes the intended gameplay cycle, while additional environments, enemies, bosses, playable characters, resources, treasures, secrets, upgrades, customization options, lore, and improvements to the central hub are areas intended to broaden the experience. The dwarven theme is more than superficial decoration. Mining feeds directly into crafting, crafting contributes to defending stone fortifications, and successful defense allows the dwarves to continue their expedition. Pickaxes, beards, underground resources, stubborn warriors, and humorous attitudes give the game a playful identity without preventing combat from becoming genuinely hectic. The visual and thematic direction complements the cooperative nature of the experience, creating an adventure that is more interested in energetic camaraderie than overly serious fantasy storytelling. Its greatest long-term challenge will be maintaining variety. Roguelite randomization and procedural caves provide a useful starting point, but repeated runs ultimately depend on having enough enemy behaviors, environments, upgrade combinations, objectives, bosses, and tactical complications to prevent the basic cycle from becoming predictable. Since the game remains in active Early Access development, some repetition, balancing inconsistencies, and unfinished areas should be expected. Players who prefer completely finalized experiences may therefore want to account for its developmental state, while those comfortable following an evolving roguelite may find plenty to appreciate in the current foundation. Steam Deck compatibility is officially categorized as Playable rather than fully Verified. Performance with the default graphics configuration is considered suitable, and the game can run successfully on SteamOS. However, handheld players should expect compromises. Some functionality is not fully accessible through the default controller configuration, touchscreen interaction or a community controller layout may occasionally be useful, and text entry can require manually opening the virtual keyboard. Some interface text may also appear small, while certain prompts can display keyboard, mouse, or non-Steam Deck controller icons. It is therefore functional on the Deck, but the experience is less seamless than a fully optimized handheld release. Overall, Stonewards succeeds by connecting its different mechanics into one coherent cycle. Mining matters because resources improve preparation, preparation matters because defenses must withstand increasingly dangerous attacks, and surviving those attacks creates another opportunity to explore and strengthen the kingdom. The mixture of first-person combat, procedural exploration, crafting, fortress defense, randomized upgrades, and four-player cooperation gives it a strong foundation with considerable room to grow. Its current Early Access status means there is still development ahead, but the central concept already delivers a distinctive and entertaining dwarven survival experience. Rating: 8/10
Guys, this game is well worth your time and attention! For a start, the game has a lovely art style (it’s pixel-based, but the developers have thought of you and added a ‘less grainy’ option in the settings) Get a group of friends together and start digging furiously before the wave of enemies arrives. Search the tunnels you’ve dug for rooms with loot and chests. Level up your characters using the resources you’ve gathered and collect combinations of different rings. It’s the perfect game for a couple of evenings – I highly recommend it
Este juego se lo descubrió un amigo a un amigo y ese amigo me lo descubrió a mi y luego yo se lo descubrí a otro amigo y ese amigo a otro, y ahora no podemos parar de jugar, necesito más contenido por favor.
Really fun gameplay loop with a huge amount of potential. Only issue I've found is that the early access build is missing some variety in areas like weapons and maps. After a couple of content patches this will be a must buy.
A really enjoyable game, not only with friends but I even played in a lobby with random new friends and really enjoyed it !
Super funny game with friends !
