It is not a big game. It is not a long game. Maybe you wouldn't even call it a game at all... But it is very pleasant, calming, relaxing... It is simple - yes. But is simplicity necessarily a bad thing? Stones of Solace is artistic in nature, therapeutic, maybe even meditative experience. You can "fix" your clock - and run through everything in an hour or so... Or - you can play a new chapter every day, the way it is intended. You can make symmetrical arrangements, or make faces and pictures, or just throw colorful chips at your canvass - you will not be judged or measured against anything or anyone. It is yours to make what you want - or even nothing at all - while listening to Zen music. Wonderful soft colors, very easy on your eyes - what not to like? Few points off though for those things: - yes, soundtrack is somewhat short and maybe even repetitive; - yes, controls could be better in parts (holding LMB becomes a bit annoying after a time); - and yes - be careful, it is LOUD! No way to adjust the volume - only ON or OFF. But it is an absolute gem - especially considering that it is free. And even with some minor (and maybe even totally personal) points of concern it is still way, way better than a lot of stuff that me and you buy in bundles for pennies because we have to when it's shoved with something else we want. This game has the same spirit as Viridi (btw, if you didn't check it yet - do so, please) - and I recommend it likewise. P.S. At the time I write this - game has a limited profile features, but when it gets fully integrated you will also add a few achievements to your counter.

Stones of Solace is a minimalist, contemplative little game that is ideal for enjoying a few minutes of daily to unwind. Meet a unique idol, a non-interactable statue in a natural setting, and spend however long you like arranging small objects from that setting to make an offering on a stone plate. The main draws of the game are the soft, watercolor-like art style and the opportunity for creative relaxation. The music is soothing but can get somewhat annoying as the loops are very short, and if you're taking your time making your offering perfect it can be a little grating. There is also a minor control design issue, where you have to click and hold the left mouse button to hold an object and click the right mouse button to rotate it. Making it so you click left to select the object and click right to rotate would simplify the steps and prevent a lot of dropped objects. This may not be the controls themselves and is more likely a case of me having butterfingers, but I figured it was worth mentioning. One of the major shortcomings is the lack of content, there are relatively few idols and once you've met them all, there's nothing new to explore. The 100% is very easy as a result, but an expansion would likely be well received. It can be difficult to find a video game experience that asks very little of you in exchange for a few minutes of calm refreshment, and Stones of Solace offers just that. No schedule is too busy for a few minutes of peace.
