Erzengel Tyrael1982
My Experience For many of us, there are brief times in our lives where we feel "unmoored." We may not know exactly who we are, what we should be doing, or where we should be going. The protagonist within Stilstand is experiencing just such a time. Some of my thoughts on the title include:

It's Interesting that the shadow actually represents a more hopeful and optimistic force. If it represented something like depression, it might be a bit cliche at this point.
So often, we need to turn towards that which unnerves us to conquer it. Our protagonist makes just such a decision when she heads through the frame and towards the sea. The visual of being alone, tossed on the waves, is such an apt depiction of a forlorn headspace.
Although the man that the protagonist contacts towards the end of the game may not be the best source of support, seeking connection is one of the most effective balms for depression.
As someone who has chewed their fingernails for years, it's jarring to actually see that represented in a game, especially illustrated in this way.
Thank goodness that drugs and alcohol seemed so scary to me when I was younger, as they are such an easily-abusable coping method.
Although the illustrations could be unnerving (and sometimes seemed a bit low-quality), the soundscape of the game is excellent. The sound effects and bass-infused beats offset the somewhat shoddy visuals. Although there is some interactivity here, that won't be anyone's primary draw for playing this game. You'll come for the carefully-crafted portrayal of inertia. And as these types of experiences go, I do think that Stilstand adds something fresh to the emotional interactive fiction genre.
Stilstand manages to pack a summer's worth of feelings into an experience less than an hour long. The art style and humour are a great combination - it's a difficult experience represented as it is/feels, without sugar-coating, but with plenty of levity.
Not for everyone, but it's a very genuine and well-made game about anxiety, depression and loneliness in current times. Actually not much of a game but an interactive graphic novel. Not much to play here, but a few things to see, and a lot to think about.
Engaging and voyeuristic, an uncomfortable peek into something personal. A lot of great artwork and interesting interaction paradigms. I'm definitely here for more.
the most expressive faces in games since 1978. Simple, but powerful. Party on dying earth.
A short, very artistic, interactive visual novel. The deliberately ugly art style is unique and gives the game a nice, heavy feel. The interactivity is built in creatively in various ways. Overall a good experience. (My playtime is long because I was playing in a language I'm not good at. You'll almost certainly get through it more quickly.)
I really adored this short visual novel. There isn't a ton in terms of game play, you're more just clicking to let the story progress with some very small mini games. It's about the story rather than doing anything. As someone who battles mental health issues a lot, I just really enjoyed the game. The art style is also really unique which I loved.
