Stellar Dream - Part 1

[h2]TL;DR[/h2] A surprisingly story-rich adult sci-fi VN for players who want to build and progress meaningful relationships among the stars, 8/10 — or a 9/10 if you can shrug off a few small bugs. [h2]Brief Description[/h2] After a long journey through space, you wake from a cryo pod and are charged with helping the colonization efforts on multiple planets. From the promo material, I expected a game built around alien planets and exotic races, but Stellar Dream actually spends the better part of its effort fleshing out the ship and the human relationships aboard it. Honestly, that's where it shines. There's some genuinely nice alien content, but it's hit-or-miss and underbaked next to the rest. [h2]Gameplay & Structure[/h2] The ship is your hub: roam the ship building up bonds with the crew while doing some side quests, head down to a planet for a mission, then come back to a fresh set of interactions. [b]Rinse and repeat.[/b] The character creation drops you straight into picking stats before you have any idea what they do, and the system's shallower than it looks since most stats can be trained without any cost or drawbacks. The karma points also barely matter; they only nudge a few outcomes. There's also turn-based combat and an inventory of weapons and armor, but both are rudimentary. You just equip the item with the biggest number and move on. None of these systems are bad, they're just underused. Nevertheless, these mechanics aren't why you're here. The heart of the game is the quests and their writing. Progressing each relationship is very exciting and the game pays you back with intimate scenes worth the build-up. [h2]Writing & Immersion[/h2] The story and characters are great. I genuinely wasn't expecting them to be this good. For me a VN lives or dies on its writing, a crappy story won't do it for me no matter how much or how good the adult content is. Thankfully, Stellar Dream actually delivers on both fronts. It kept me interested in the characters and their role in the larger plot. You feel real progression: planets visibly change each time you visit, and you can watch your decisions leave their mark on the ship and on the planets. That said, it's not flawless. The opening throws you in headfirst with almost no exposition, so you feel a little aimless and unsure whether you missed something. The pacing is weird too — the story screams [b]urgent mission[/b], yet the game wants you to wander the ship flirting for hours before starting the main quest (I spent ~2 hours before the first mission). The side content is excellent — strong world-building, immersive exposition and dialogue — but it kills the sense of urgency. [h2]Characters & Adult Content[/h2] There are 20+ romanceable characters, some get rich arcs while others get little more than an introduction. That's the price to pay for variety. The story doesn't branch all that deeply, but you get meaningful options in how you approach each person, and relationships actually ripen across missions — from fling, to dating, to couple, and beyond. Adult scenes are abundant and they complement the dialogue rather than interrupt it. Mostly vanilla — some kinks here and there, some pregnancy content, and of course you can get down with exotic species — but nothing that I would consider extreme. A few spoilery observations: [spoiler]Maria the doctor seemed dull at first and quietly became my favorite as her arc unfolded. Cassandra and Saki are also standouts. On the flip side, the snake people add so little you'd hardly notice if they were gone. The purple elves are the highlight of the alien content, while the deep gnomes land somewhere in between.[/spoiler] [h2]Art & Sound[/h2] The art is one of the game's biggest strengths. I really liked it, even if the faces get a touch weird at times. H-scenes are mostly still frames with light stop-motion animation, which I actually enjoyed very much, though it might not be everyone's cup of tea. The soundtrack is mostly soothing ambience. Pleasant and fitting but rarely memorable. [h2]Rough Edges[/h2] Where the game stumbles the most is polish. There are gallery bugs where scenes you've clearly unlocked don't register, the quest tracker can be hard to follow, and some branching paths have dialogue that doesn't quite connect — some unconventional routes break immersion. It's also split into Part 1 and Part 2, and with Part 2 still being a long way off, the story cuts without a satisfying ending. [h2]Verdict[/h2] My first completionist run took ~17 hours, and chasing alternative routes and every scene across 3+ playthroughs pushed it past 20 hours. It's generous on content with decent replayability, totally worth the money in my opinion. Stellar Dream has the makings of a 10/10 in this genre but lands at a realistic [b]8/10[/b] thanks to the bugs, shallow systems, and rocky opening. Still, I was immersed for hours on end, and hopefully Part 2 will build on this strong foundation, delivering something amazing. Recommended for anyone who loves narrative-driven VNs, reading, and slowly progressing relationships with a diverse cast. I'm very much looking forward to whatever this studio cooks up next.

One of the better lewd games in my library. It has a variety of characters to 'interact' with, including lizard women, deep gnomes, avatar looking things, and regular old humans. The artwork is good, and the overall theme of establishing an earth colony is interesting. I'm just sad that its over and I have to wait and see if they make a Part 2. If you don't already have a breeding fetish, you will by the end of the game.

This game is a fun story with fun adult scenes. It's cartoonish but in good way. It's quite enjoyable!

Good game, Story is okay (Its only "Part 1") Open ending. Lots of choices --> Theres a Walkthrough in the discussions if you want to know what those do. All in all its a cute game and for an indie game its cheap, lots of indie vn´s cost like 20-30 bucks
