This is a pretty good, short RPG. Story isn't anything special, just a girl looking for a date, it's not bad. Art is fine and the bad-ass seasoned warrior is a penguin, And penguins are awesome. However, if I can criticise something, it's the first few rooms of the game and that they felt way more difficult than they should be early on. Enemies felt tankier even at level one which made combat a bit of a chore early game til I got more money, and the only reason I would want to grind is to get more money to buy potions. This becomes less of a problem later when you get more skills, party members and money but if any drops the game at the first two rooms, I wouldn't blame them.
Forever Alone?

Story
This story happens during the Rave Heart party's first visit to Planet Kardel, where they are chased down as fugitives. Fortunately for Elya, she has nothing to do with the grand political struggle between Ellemine and Vorakia. Instead, she has more important things to worry about, like getting a boyfriend for Venusia's Day because she lied to her friends about having one. Her slime familiar recommends finding a handsome guy in the Limbo Realm to brainwash into being a temporary boyfriend, which seems like a strange place to do so, but since this boyfriend is likely from a different dimension or planet, it'll be much harder for them to sue I guess. She does end up finding a candidate, Ivan, who turns out to have good chemistry with her, so hopefully they might not have to pretend to be a couple in the long run (nudge nudge wink wink). Things get a bit darker when the party recruits Pokie, a cute penguin with a sword and some war crimes under his belt. He's definitely an edgelord compared to most other Starmage protagonists, but he also has a good character arc if you manage to find the secret boss. Even if you don't and end up getting the normal ending, you do get a nice twist reveal about his motivations. He certainly subverts the usual trope of the beast/birdman knight in shining armor, which caught me off guard as a result. I don't know if this was the case in the current version of the game, but I think Pokie should have gotten more violent CG scenes for some of his actions, such as the cutscene after the final boss on the normal route. As for the antagonist, Sedrick, he's definitely not treated with the same gravitas as Vorakia, since he's the villain of a relatively more light-hearted story and he doesn't have the political manipulation skills that made Vorakia such an effective villain. Still, the fact that Floryn was alarmed by his archon summon implies that he, or at least his archon, could have become a threat rivaling Vorakia and the Ether Demons, but not much more is explained. At least it's satisfying to watch Pokie put him in his place. As a warning, when I played and recorded the game, I found that the normal ending has context that is needed to better understand a short cutscene from the good ending. I have no idea if this is the case with the current release of the game, but I recommend seeing both endings, if only to gain appreciation for how you changed Pokie's life for the better.
Gameplay
The game features a CTB system similar to Octopath Traveler, and you can stun an enemy by hitting their weaknesses enough times. However, stunning them has no effect on your DPS and enemies tend to have only one or two weaknesses each, so it's mostly optional. It can be pretty handy against later bosses, since those bosses have 2-3 actions per turn. Like in Heroes of the Seasons, you have a lot of skills that are instant cast, which means they don't use up your turn. This makes it more efficient to juggle buffs and debuffs, which you will need to keep track of in order to keep up with the later game difficulty. It does feel overall easier compared to Heroes of the Seasons, since you have four party members towards the end and you can use Pokie's Wrathful Edge to bump that up to 5 actions per turn. I personally like to have Wrathful Edge cast on Elya so she can spam support and healing skills to keep everyone alive through even the toughest bosses, which feels like the meta strat. There are no towns in this game because you're in Limbo, but the traveling shopkeeper has fairly low prices so you can basically treat him like a walking inn anyways.
Verdict
8.5/10 Overall, it's a fairly simple story, but it works and Pokie is a well-written edgelord. The gameplay is well-balanced, but if you want to create an artificial hard mode for yourself, you should designate someone other than Elya to be your Wrathful Edge target and go for a more glass cannon strategy.

Stellar Bewitching Remastered is such a solid RPG Maker game. 🌟 The plot is delightfully quirky—heading to another world to find a fake boyfriend, with our sassy slime familiar oozing lust at the shopkeeper whenever she can, keeps things hilariously unpredictable. Add a murderous penguin with a taste for the blood of his enemies, and a handsome lad trying to find his destiny in this strange new realm, and the story is full of charm and surprises. With lovely visuals, a fun soundtrack, and smooth combat, the game feels alive and fun to explore. I’m even more excited to continue my journey further through Starmage’s catalog—this one has me completely hooked!
So cute, funny, and enjoyable RPG! The combat system was engaging and easy to learn, much like Starmage's other game Heroes of the Seasons! I enjoy the storyline very much! Floryn the slime is a very funny character, and the penguin samurai was very cool and so edgy HAHAHA! I like playing on different environments! Very nicely designed areas for explore! I have a lot of fun with the boss battles and challenge, and I unlocked 2 endings for Pokie! Very great job to Starmage!
Recomendo.
Stellar bewitching is a free, lighthearted RPG maker game, perfect for some casual unwinding. The story and the characters are not that serious. If the text wouldn’t make that clear enough, the derpy portraits surely make the intention of the creator(s) obvious – you are supposed to have a silly ride, with no need for seriousness. At the early fights there will be only two party members, and those fights will be somewhat challenging. Later on the party extends to 3 then finally to 4. There are several skills, opening up some variations. But in most cases I just stuck to the “optimal” setup – applying all the buffs and debuffs, and casting the double action on Elya, the protagonist, who was responsible for the healing and protection. On longer fights I mostly forgot to keep up some buffs / debuffs. Those are shown on small cycling circular icons for each effect (positive or negative). In the first half of the game you will have to figure out the weaknesses of the enemies through trial and error. Once learned, they will be shown later on. Eventually you will be able to just scan for them, in a single step for all enemies. The graphics of the game are nice enough. Most main characters will be derpy. There is a reasonable variety of enemies, mostly fantasy creatures. The backgrounds will be a bit barebone, a few levels barely more than some corridors with a few buttons to press. Speaking about buttons, there will be a few puzzles to solve in the game. They are easy to figure out, so it won’t be an obstacle for the playthrough. The game played in a fixed size windows, perhaps 16:9 and 720 lines? I didn’t even bother with finding out the built in full screen options, just upscaled it through Losless Scaling. Strangely, the window caption remained in the upscaled image, usually that doesn’t happen. For such a casual experience, I just went on with that. The background music was good enough, the main style being synth-pop I guess. As far as I remember, there was no voice acting, not even some acknowledgement lines, unlike the preview of BlueSkies 3. There are vendors in the game. Throughout the game it was no problem to keep up with the consumables, I had plenty of money for that. Almost till the final boss fight I didn’t even had to use the higher tier consumables, the normal ones served well enough. Similarly, the lower cost talents were plenty enough for the fights. Only in the final boss fight did I resort to the ridiculously high cost skills, and the high tier consumables. Gear management won’t be problem, all weapons are just straight upgrades for their specific characters. I played the game with the keyboard, being away from my home computer with a controller. While you can redefine the keys, the numpad wasn’t allowed as the target for that. I use Num5 for forward, so the backed in Num8 forward wasn’t good for me. For longer games I would probably set up an Autohotkey mapping to resolve it, but for this short game I just used the arrow keys and enter/space. The game can be saved from the party management menu, out of fights. There are 20 manual save slots. You can load straight away from that menu too, no need to exit to the title screen just for that – not that I ever had to use it. The whole game took me a bit more than 5 hours, though I missed the optional fight. I guess that was before the nightmare boss fight. I even saw the stars which probably lead to it, but decided to first kill the big monster, and pursue those stars after that. As it happens, after killing that boss I got transported out of the nightmare – the existence of the door behind it mislead me. So why did I play this game? I was actually searching for Stellar blade, and found out that it was still not ported to Steam. But a free RPG maker game showed up instead for typing in “stellar b”. Checking out the reviews, it was around 4 hour, perfect for my final vacation day after new years eve, away from my computer. Since I played this game for free, I wishlisted Blueskies 3 from the developer. When on cheap on a summer or winter sale, I will probably buy it, even if I won’t play it. The game was stable for me, it didn’t crash.
🗡️🐧Samurai Schwert Pinguin. 👌😎
