Inspired by JaGeX's Steel Sentinels, Steel Symphony is a 2D Action-Strategy platformer where players choose from an assortment of components to build their robot, or sentinel. The key to formidable customization is creatively balancing & optimizing statistics such as integrity, shielding, mass, weapon capabilities, modular arrange, and equipment carried. Chassis configuration, weapon loadout, and module selection constitute the essence of a sentinel: Chassis are selected archetypally dependent on class such as runner, jumper, flier, tank, colossus, etc... that are further configured to fill multiple roles. Weapons are chosen based on damage, range, rate of fire, energy dependency, area of effect, synergy with other weapons, and additional effects. Modules are delegated to give the sentinel protection, maneuverability, extra power, and/or more complex effects.

Steel Symphony is a fan-made game in the spirit of Steel Sentinels, Jagex's FunOrb.com flash title. The Steel Symphony Development team have been working on this title and sister game Chrome Conflict for many years sense FunOrb went dark. They have excellently achieved, alongside other homegrown studios who actively develop projects inspired by FunOrb's old titles, working to re-create the magic that these games inspired. Not only has the Steel Symphony team succeeded in this, but they have also made improvements that players of Steel Sentinels will find refreshing and fun. For those not familiar with the game, the character customization options offered here are limitless. Half the fun is in the configuration window, and players are sure to have a blast customizing their sentinel and finding unique build orders, going head to head with other players to test the effectiveness. Any player can load up the best gear and take it to the fight, but this will affect your tech value, which means your worth more points in the fight and earn less. In the action, the game's unique feature is an input delay representative of the operators input lag as it travels to the sentinel in space. This forces strategic and tactic decisions when it comes to steering and firing a sentinel, not found in other 2D action games. For players who are familiar with the legacy title, you will find a whole new armory of weapons, sentinel attachments, and upgrade modules. Alongside all your old favorites, you'll get new toys and new mechanics such as a built in map editor, weapon overheat, sniper rifles, and even weapons of mass destruction! The development team have chosen the Unity Engine for the title, ensuring updates and patches are easy for the relatively small team, keeping the game balanced and running smooth. Sprites are pleasing to look at as well as the menus/in-world map. Players have the option of playing over LAN or online multiplayer, which hosts a native 24/7 hour server and features limited steam-works API. Its a reboot of my favorite game. 2D mechanized battles in the air, on the ground, in space. Build an enormous armored Goliath and pit it against other peoples builds. Its got all the fun game modes like TDM and FFA and a few twists on others like: KOTH- Battle other mechs vying to hold a position in a crashed ship's shield to gain points. CTF- Fly from your ship across a barren asteroid field to the enemies ship to charge your mech, return in one piece to charge your ships super laser and fire it at the enemy. 3 caps to win A plethora of maps means an always changing field with more to possibly come.
Great game in the spirit of Steel Sentinels. Unfortunately, there isn't a single person playing it, so I hope you like jumping around in the test field
First hi
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There are no available servers and no player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This is a simple 2D platformer-like shooter brawler with some welcome customisation features, but ultimately a derivative of an Adobe Flash game... and apart from better performance, isn't markedly better than a Flash game. Which was released in 2024, on PC... I think we're a bit beyond browser games, or at least we should be. So, Steel Symphony is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2025. That alone is enough to disqualify this for recommendation. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 12 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
this is a nice hit of nostalgia from funorb days, ty for this
Reminds me of the old version of funorb!
