About
States of Power is a Grand Strategy Wargame where you command your nation's armies, economy, and diplomacy. Easy to start, but hard to master - no hours of tutorials just to start playing, and a full match fits in one session. The game is designed for smooth singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay with deep customisation. Control a World War II era nation of your choice - or create an entirely new setting with the built-in Scenario Editor and share it with others.
Command every division directly. Build an army tailored to your strategy - infantry, tanks, artillery, fighter planes, and more. Each unit excels against some and falters against others. Adapt to shifting frontlines and avoid overstretching your supply lines.
You don't need to watch hours of tutorials or read a wiki just to play your first game. States of Power is built to get you onto the map and making meaningful decisions within minutes, while still rewarding the mastery, planning, and bold gambles that strategy veterans crave.
With the built-in Scenario Editor, you can easily create custom countries, redraw borders, design entire scenarios, and script your own events - alternate histories, what-if conflicts, fantasy worlds and anything you can imagine. No external tools, no modding headaches.
When your creation is ready, publish it to the Scenario Browser for the whole community to download, rate, and play.
Develop your provinces with factories, research labs, ports, and infrastructure. Balance your economy - construction, goods, military supplies, and manpower, take loans, trade on the world market, and push your industry to its limits. Climb a technology tree from early-war infantry weapons all the way to the atomic bomb. Choose your nation's ideology - Democratic, Authoritarian, Communist, or Fascist and reshape your country through reform or civil war.
Form alliances for survival or manipulate others before betraying them. Guarantee independence, sign non-aggression pacts, send “volunteers” to foreign wars, or quietly prepare for war. Multiplayer diplomacy is fast and brutal - with global and private messaging built in, your words are weapons too.

I really enjoy the game, and I have a lot of fun playing different scenarios and making my own. The simplified style and mechanics are great and make the game really easy to pick up and play, especially if you already played other strategy games. While I really like the game, there is some stuff that I think is a bit irritating and annoying: 1. When creating formables, you have to lock the formable behind one ideology. So, if Athens is Authoritarian, it can not form democratic Greece. Having "universal" formables would be great and make creating scenarios a lot easier. Currently, you need to create 4 different formables of the same one so everyone can form it. 2. The flag designer is really, really limited. I understand not being able to upload flags, but not even being to rotate or move around the emblem creates an insane limitation of what you actually can create. Maybe adding a colour wheel instead of "somewhat" fixed colours with the sliders, and implementing a more customizable flag creator where you can rotate and move stuff around would be great. Even just being able to have more historic emblems would be great, like a Horse, Bear, Eagle, etc would enhance the flag creator a lot. 3. As a lot of other reviews already said, the manpower for smaller nations is very limited. It becomes nearly impossible to actually play smaller nations, as you can not core states or integrate them. Maybe adding a technology that enables some sort of "Government building", that cores the state after like some months/years could solve the problem. 4. Something that I personally would like, but its absence does not subtract from the experience, is a "unit customizer", like disabling air-planes, renaming units, or customising manpower requirements, maybe even the stats. The base-units could always exist as templates in the scenario creator, so no one is forced to make new units. Disabling air-planes would be amazing for creating scenarios that are based in the past. 5. Another thing for the future, which absence also does not hurt the current experience, are more "detailed" regional maps with more provinces in that specific region while the rest of the world would be off-screen. Like an North+South America focus, Europe + North Africa focus, Asia focus, etc. would enable a lot more detailed scenarios for different regions. But, like I said at the beginning: The game is great and lots of fun. It is very fast paced, and really engaging in the middle stages. I recommend to try it out and play around a bit!
