About

STARWEAVE is more than a narrative-focused tactics game – it’s a tapestry of intertwined fates, a journey marked by camaraderie, laughter, loss, and defiance against the inescapable. Set against the backdrop of a world held hostage by prophecy, you will navigate the treacherous landscapes of destiny and grapple with the chains that bind you to an oppressive cycle.
Developer Note: This game is a thesis project created by a group of students and freelance collaborators. Starweave should take around 3 hours to complete. Please note that the game will likely not receive any additional updates. All purchases go directly to the developers. For more information on the game's development and release, please refer to our devlogs/Steam updates above.
Features:
✦ Squad-Based, Turn-Based Combat: Engage in tactically demanding encounters where every decision counts, and the balance of power can shift in the blink of an eye.
✦ Refusal Mechanic: Refuse to be bound by destiny. Characters may resist their prescribed roles, altering the course of what they've been told to do. It's up to you to come to grips with your errant actions.
✦ Rich Storytelling: Immerse yourself in a richly woven narrative where bonds are tested, friendships are forged, and every victory is a step towards breaking the cycle.
✦ Character Bonding: Experience heartwarming bonding moments with your teammates. Their lives are intertwined with yours, and their struggles, their laughter, and their sacrifices will resonate with you long after you’ve put the game down.
✦ A Stellar Team: Created by a team of over sixty students and collaborators, and including a phenomenal party comprised of the voice talents of Heather Gonzalez (Monster Hunter Rise, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment), Anjali Kunapaneni (Monster Hunter Wilds, The Outer Worlds 2), Marissa Lenti (Octopath Traveler 0, Borderlands 3), and Brian Timothy Anderson (Fire Emblem Engage, Infinity Nikki).
In STARWEAVE, every decision, every interaction, every step taken can tip the scale of destiny. With every choice, you will come closer to the truth - the truth of who you are, who you were meant to be, and who you choose to become. Stand strong against the tides of fate and weave your own starry path. Your journey awaits.

First of all: Gorgeous game. CGs, dialog sprites, combat sprites, it's a style with almost maximal color in a way that highlights how ephemeral the setting is meant to be, a place within dreams. Second of all: Love how the game is constructed, and it plays very well. Reordering actions and selecting squares just above a character can be a bit finicky, but I didn't notice that as an issue more than a couple times (or maybe I completely missed a button to back out instead of initiating a move and cancelling it to return the Undo button). This was a lovely game, and the writing and voice acting is great. I wish there was more I could put in a review that wasn't talking about plot points!
"A beautiful and brilliant game that has a lot to say in a little bit of time. Hopeful, and explores the concepts of its narrative in a really interesting metatextual sense through the combat system and its interplay with the typical conventions of the genre to create novel experiences" is what i'd say if i was the quote you were reading on the back of this box and this was an e.b. games at the mall in 2008. buy the game
lovely game so far!
Great game! Love the way the tactics mechanics tie into the characterization and theme of the game. Some gorgeous visual moments as well - highly recommended!
Very pretty game with really interesting concepts! I loved the art and ui design a lot!!
I was really surprised by how quickly this game sucked me in. Despite the short length, it was really well paced and I feel really satisfied having played through it. The voice acting was fantastic, the visuals and music were delicious, and the story will have me rotating this game in my head like a microwave meal for the next several months. If you're thinking about giving it a go, you Definitely should!!
Starweave absolutely floored me for all the right reasons. The game's art is incredible, from the sprites to the backgrounds and 3D models that litter the environment to the cutscenes and the portraits for characters and the UI; you can tell that a lot of heart and love and passion from the artists was put into the project. I will happily say the same for the writing. The characters aren't one note, and they feel alive with the way that you can read and imply certain things from what they don't say or what they kind of say between the lines. I had a lot of fun seeing the dynamics all of the party members had as the story progressed too. Besides, the voice acting is top tier and adds so much. If you're a fan of strategy games, this one will be enjoyable for you as well. While the enemies themselves already have you thinking of different strategies, it does something new with the trust and refusal mechanic of your companions that had me rewire my strategy often during battle maps to try and take into account their own opinions. This is a solid, entertainin game that made me tear up by the end a little bit, and I look forward to seeing what the people behind it come up with next!
Amazing tactics game that subverts the expectations associated with the genre, along with characters I quickly grew attached to. And of course gorgeous art and character designs! 100% well worth the price and then some
TL;DR A really really beautiful game that can be completed in one sitting!! From the visuals, the OST, the voice overs, the UI/UX, the game mechanics, and the writing - everything ties together meaningfully to deliver a message that we could all do with more of. -- In the short span of time, the characters really managed to capture my attention with what each of them stand for, and they're superbly written! The voice acting brought the characters to life so wonderfully and it really immersed me in the story - giving that extra oomph during certain scenes... The game's visuals are gorgeous, and I liked how at some parts the text animation changes to create more of an impact. The visuals and OST also lends itself to the atmosphere of the game, and really nailed the bittersweetness of it all. The gameplay itself was really fun and innovative, and certain mechanics had me thinking about what it means to fight against fate :) Ultimately, everything in the game really lends itself to the message that the studio wanted to bring, and it's a message we could all do with more of in these times!!!
All stories tread the same footfall, and STARWEAVE knows this and embraces it. Tracing the steps of the Dreamers before you, the love of the art of storytelling is so crystal clear. The game uses its turn-based mechanics to enhance the story beats, pulling at your heartstrings with each twist and turn. Each character has etched themselves on my heart after just a few hours spent with them. Well worth a play! Well worth the money! And, well worth the sacrifice, but don't bring that part up to Blackguard.
