About

In Starbound, you create your own story - there’s no wrong way to play! You may choose to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries in the process, or you may wish to forego a heroic journey entirely in favor of colonizing uncharted planets.

Settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, hop from planet to planet collecting rare creatures, or delve into dangerous dungeons and lay claim to extraordinary treasures.
Discover ancient temples and modern metropolises, trees with eyes, and mischievous penguins. Make use of hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects to build a sleepy secluded cabin in the woods, a medieval castle, underwater arcade, or even a space station.

Starbound has been built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own and modify the game to suit your play style - add new items, races, planet types, dungeons, and quests - the possibilities are limitless.

Save the universe in an epic story campaign featuring colorful characters, bosses, dungeons, and quests!

I am honestly so sad that Chucklefish abandoned this game. My partner and I have had a LOT of fun with Starbound. I have about 293 hours in it so far. We finished the entire game together once, and later came back and played it again with mods. And there is a reason we kept coming back. I love how much there is to do and how differently you can choose to spend your time. I love farming and having animals, building homes together, traveling from planet to planet, going on fun hunts and never quite knowing what we're going to discover next. Finding new villages and tribes, meeting different races and discovering their cultures makes exploring the universe genuinely fun. Personally, I absolutely love the versatility of the bees. 🐝 I became a true little beekeeper and loved experimenting with all the different possibilities. At one point I caught myself doing that for several days in a row while my man was busy building us another home somewhere on a completely different planet. And I think that says a lot about what makes Starbound special as a co-op game. We can play together without having to do the exact same thing every second. He can disappear into a building project while I tend to my farm, animals or bees, and then we meet up again and go exploring or hunting together. You can follow the story, but you can also spend hours simply creating your own life and adventures in this enormous universe. I personally wouldn't play Starbound alone, because sharing all of this is a huge part of the fun for me. There is something wonderful about landing on a new planet together and having absolutely no idea what you're going to find there. Co-op does glitch sometimes, and that's one of the reasons it frustrates me so much that active development stopped. There were still things that could have been fixed and improved. And after we finished the game and eventually started playing with mods, it became even more obvious just how much untapped potential Starbound still had. It is so much more fun with mods. The modding community expanded the game in ways that make me wish Chucklefish had continued developing it and integrated some of those ideas into the official game. That's why I understand the many players who say Starbound could have been so much more. It absolutely could have been. But I still absolutely recommend it. We finished it. We came back. We discovered new things, built homes, farmed, raised animals, explored countless planets, went on adventures together—and then we discovered an entirely new side of the game through mods. Almost 300 hours later, we've had an incredible amount of fun with this strange little universe. I just wish Chucklefish hadn't abandoned a game with so much life and potential still left in it. Starbound deserved more. 🌌

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's Terraria but good.
the idea of the game is great the way it was done was ok. the main bad thing about it is that teens who made the game were underpaid. But the game in a nutshell is no mans sky mixed with starfield and terraria. the story i havent completed but from what people say its not that good. i would recommend if your a explorer and fighter also if you liek the building from terriara the building on this one is very simlar
ITS FUN
starbound is one of the best games ever this is all i can say a good game needs no words
i have always played heavily modded, and even i can tell that vanilla starbound is ♥♥♥♥ from a butt Can be v fun with mods tho :3
its fun, 20 hrs without mods and i'm still having fun. if ya all need more updates just switch to minecraft bro, this one is smaller AND fun. and slightly cheaper then terraria (i think).
This game provides hours of potential play but without the community it is a mile wide but inch deep endeavor. the mods and efforts put in after playing the base game that makes things special here. this game is very much a storytelling game but only under the pretense that you put in efforts to find the next location or you lose the momentum that gives this game that potential of fun, mods or fan efforts be damned.
easily my favorite survival game. great fun for solo, with friends, or with family.
