About

In Starbound, you create your own story - there’s no wrong way to play! You may choose to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries in the process, or you may wish to forego a heroic journey entirely in favor of colonizing uncharted planets.

Discover ancient temples and modern metropolises, trees with eyes, and mischievous penguins. Make use of hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects to build a sleepy secluded cabin in the woods, a medieval castle, underwater arcade, or even a space station.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I kind of reccomend it, it looks nice, has a nice vibe, I don't know. It's way too ambitious for its own good, the main questline is contrived and feels bolted onto the sandbox like why? ... to differentiate itself from terraria i guess. download the fracking universe mod to have the best experience, and dont play the steam version use openstarbound because this game hasn't had support for years and the UI is tiny on modern displays. The combat sucks just in general its not worth talking about. the exploration is good but the controls and UI are kind of clunky, lots of items and enemy variety but I dont know what this game is even trying to be. I think its a colony sim farming thing with space travel and more of a focus on agriculture and questing/crafting/sciencing then something like terraria which is more of a boss rush about leveling up your guy. I think starbound should of just dropped the combat in general and made it full on sciency community builder. There is no need for this game to have these linear scripted dungeons and boss fights and weapon upgrades. it just makes it boring in my opinion, starbound should of been more original and experimental in its design instead of trying to be like other games. so this is my reccomendation: download fracking universe and play on casual mode so you dont need to deal with the pointless survival mechanics and item drop stuff, focus on farming and building new technology and build up a cool colony on a planet you like, avoid the main questline and combat as much as you can. 8/10 at its best. 2/10 for when its trying to be terraria or for some reason metroid (???)
Like a toxic ex, this game keeps dragging me back in, and I can't understand why. The gameplay loop story-wise gets very boring. You fly to higher-level planets and scan alien artifacts to do quests to save the universe from Cthulhu. That's basically it. Side content is obscure, but it is there. You have to dig for it. And every single planet is so SMALL. They only have one or two biomes. The achievements also suck to get. And combat can be a pain in the ass. So WHY do I keep coming back? The soundtrack. The setting. The atmosphere. The sense of wonder I get when I hear Atlas playing as I explore a lush planet just as the sun sets, when Inviolate plays as I fly my shuttle through the mountains of a windy biome. The horror as I descend into Delta Freya II and see blood covering the walls. It hits that sense of adventure that humans strive for all their lives. We're destined to explore space, I know we are. And maybe, just maybe, that's why I both hate and love this game so much. But I would highly recommend playing this with mods.
Great game
I think it's worth checking out if you like Terraria, but this game suffers from a lot of QoL problems and feels very unfinished. I think the devs put too much emphasis on small, unimportant mechanics that only few players will use instead of refining the core experience which every player would encounter. 70/100
game is doodoo, one star
Когда то мы играли с друзьями в эту замечательную игру. В итоге я так и не понял как они её заспиддранили. 6 из 10 друзей с гиперскоросным сдвг Ничего не понял в общем. Но игра хорошая.
