Reviews
Unfortunately a broken, dead, cash grab of a game.
Shallow Stellaris (even when comparing to it without dlcs). Guess Paradox realised how little sense it made to make this game, because they terminated development, and announced it on the forum, not even bothering to announce it here. Pathetic.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I've never refunded a game before. Until this. I was pretty hyped for this; if it was even done to 1/4th the degree of their games like Crusader Kings/HoI/Victoria/etc applied to the Star Trek universe, it would have been amazing. But it wasn't. In reality, it's just a modest reskin of Stellaris with 1 or 2 core mechanics tacked on and some flavor & story added. But the story is ship-focused, not empire-focused from what I saw, and only a tiny chunk of the galaxy of Star Trek was fleshed out; the rest is bland & generic, the many empires just a cardboard cutout of themselves, if they exist at all, beyond the core factions. There's zero of the Paradox attention to detail here. Not 1/4th, not 1/10th, but zero. So basically, just go play the mod, which is free and better. Whose creators would have been HAPPY to make a full game using Paradox's Stellaris as a base platform, which would have been much better. But probably would have wanted a cut, and Paradox couldn't have that. So rather than trusting modders & sharing, paradox got nothing.
So I had hopes for this game. I like Star Trek and I like Stellaris, a Star Trek game using the Stellaris engine should be a great thing right? Unfortunately the game just doesn't deliver enough. It's by no means the worst game in the world, if Steam had a middle of the road button I'd probably use that but in it's current state I can't recommend it and since it's not longer being worked on it's not going to get any better. The game never really captures the Star Trek feeling to me and the main way it distinguishes itself from Stellaris is by features it lacks in comparison to the more polished Stellaris. Honestly it's a little frustrating, you can see that there are some solid ideas. I like that the factions have somewhat unique approaches to gameplay and expansion the issue is there isn't enough there. With not enough content factions feel constrained to a certain path and the game feels kind of empty. It's a shame they won't be able to patch it and add more but if you're looking to scratch a Star Trek itch you're probably better off playing a mod in Stellaris.
Plays like a bad mod for stellaris. Also check the date of the last update before buying.
Wish it got A LOT more support, that being said; it's still the best star trek 4x and I can't not recommended it to a star trek fan looking for a cool space empire game. would buy on sale though
This is a badly made Stellaris mod that will apparently not get any updates, as it's been dropped like a hot potato. It's pretty bad, for example the extremely limited number of starships available and the stupid way to get them which are not canonical at all. Also there is no "canonical map" option. There are some mods attempting to fix that, but still it's not great. Do not recommend to buy this.
Very disappointing how this was handled, will never buy another Paradox game.
Released in a buggy, incomplete state and then Paradox pulled the plug on support rather than support their loyal customers who bought the game. The executive team at Paradox need to stop making terrible decisions like this. After Imperator: Rome, City Skylines 2 and now this game, I will no longer pre-order Paradox titles.
I will never trust this developer and Publisher again. This game was a cash grab. They took the bones of another game, and threw a star trek skin. Which is fine, starting out - but they should have continued to expand the game with add-ons. There were promises made that we would see more. Unfortunately, we never did. There are other games that have mods that do better than this with an active dev base.
