Simple and solid concept! A fun game for the times when you just don't have the energy to boot up your primary games. Too bad the difficulty balance is way off. I've played 5.5 hours and still haven't won a single run on the first level. I've tried numerous of times on both easy and normal. Also tried different strategies, but no go. Unless the dev rebalance the game, I can't recommend it.
Review at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXmdxACSjWI Great concept, slow game!
Highly enjoyable Base Defense title, once you work out what to do in respect of upgrades. Each side of the screen has 2 options (about three quarters down the screen). On the left are Tower (where you can upgrade your troops and Trader where you can upgrade weapons and weapon abilities. When selected, these weapon upgrades transfer to one of the two options on the right of the screen "Gear". These can then be dragged to the Tower option once upgrade slots are free of have been purchased. The second option on the right "Skills" lets you upgrade base statistics. Only complaint, the tool tip display on Upgrades and Skills seems a bit hit and miss at times - you will get there, but it is a bit temperamental........... Edit 27 Nov - fixed, works a treat. Notwithstanding, a terrific value for money title.
Not being able to see more details about my builds, and no tutorial to explain things, means I was just fumbling around and not even knowing why I was doing what I was doing. Why pick this upgrade over something else? Is a blue shotgun better than a yellow pistol looking thing? What even is the order of colors for rarity (you'd think it'd be obvious, but I've played plenty of games that go against what I would assume, and with zero damage and fire rate stats to compare it's impossible to know)? Are things like bleed, poison, and radiation DoTs, or dealt as flat damage? Are enemies resistant to certain types of damage? Streamlining the UI would also help. Having to click everything and constantly drag things back and forth across the screen to equip them is frustrating. I only paid like $1.72 and sadly I felt like I needed to refund this. I just couldn't justify it. It's a solid concept, and was exactly what I was looking for as something to idly do while watching my shows on my other display, but it just left me feeling like I can't even tell if a weapon/ability I swapped was beneficial or detrimental to my DPS.
I guess you could classify it as a simple gun-craft survivor where you do not move. The outcome seems to depend on some luck, and the choices you make between two separate upgrade offerings: one being a timed weapon/equipment store, and the other a skill tree that refreshes every 5 selections. Could use some polishing but the developer is very responsive on Discord. For me, the damage visibility/reporting was a bit frustrating. Similar games show DPS per weapon at the end of a run but this one only shows total damage. Also, opting to show real-time damage numbers creates late game lag. So it makes it hard to determine which combinations are working and which are not. Overall, a real steal for almost free. Looking forward to the extension "Plagues of Oblivion".
Bizarre review alert: This is probably the second or third time that I have edited this review. I intend for this to be the last. I believe that I may have been too harsh. The bulk of the negatives that I have to say are stemming from a personal beef that I had with the dev. I had an issue that was supposed to be worked on, and it didn't get done. That's pretty much where I stand on this issue. I didn't like being lied to, and I actually was waiting for that update that just never came. Disappointed. Take the negative with a grain of salt. As for gameplay negatives, I had complained that the achievements were disrespectful of your time, and they honestly *were* (details below). The UI is somewhat clunky, you'll be opening and closing windows constantly, and dragging items across the screen a million times, and it all gets tedious after a while. Speaking of the items, you get basically no information on anything, no tooltips or anything to give damage ranges on the weapons, and it comes down to "I *think* that X is better than Y, but who knows?". Now, for some POSITIVES It is a pretty fun TD overall. It isn't expensive. You will probably get a fair amount of play time. *The game has been updated since my "beef", and has had my particular issue addressed, as well as reducing some of the requirements for the achievements. Personally, I have to walk away from this game despite this. I think that I have made my points clear on this point, and stand pretty firm on this. If you have a few bucks, you can definitely do worse.
I got this on sale and still feel like I overpaid. pretends to be an ocean but is as deep as a puddle, and painfully boring. I assume its on mobile and this is just stealing money from idiots like me.
It's a really fun game. It took me a while to figure out how things work together but once it clicked it really got compelling. Really, for the price this is well worth the money. The equation of getting one hour of entertainment for every dollar spent on a game works out to be much higher with this one. I'm 4 hours in and will be playing it again. I played on normal difficulty. As for difficulty, I made it to the 5th and final level on my first play through. A very enjoyable little tower defense game. It really is a bargain. Well done devs! Give it a try.
