This is a single developer writing a love letter to RO and room temperature IQ players review bomb it on the first day because there is server issues in the first week of going EARLY ACCESS. Not even a release. Multi Million dollar cooperations ♥♥♥♥ up the releases constantly and people expect one guy to do it flawlessly. Cant make this ♥♥♥♥ up
I don't know what is worse, the state of this "mmo" or the white knights that defend it every time someone complains about the product they purchased with a "it was your choice to buy an early access game , they are always broken, it is acceptable" - Servers are down multiple times per day for multiple hours - Player trading has been disabled with no ETA - Party doesn't work properly - Chat doesn't work - Random lag spikes while your ping shows ~40 In my opinion the current content cannot justify the 15$ price tag, since release the game (when servers are up) is just a buggy Ironman mode experience BTW steam won't refund you if you exceed 2h, so keep that in mind :)
do not buy this game. devs and gm are trash. they ban restrict account for no reason
// DATA_LOG: SpiritVale

"Passing through the area known as Sunny Meadows was both exciting and disorienting, but that's to be expected when traveling through new lands. The grass was emerald green, the air refreshing, and there were people everywhere, as if a carnival or special event were going on. The townsfolk seemed nice enough, but there seemed to be a major issue with litter. Bags of trash and excess loot lay everywhere, with not a garbage bin in sight. The atmosphere felt a bit tense, yet people carried on nonetheless. Running here and there in a hurry, the place was certainly popular, I'll say that much. However, it was a little too overwhelming for me at the time, so I decided to keep moving and get on my way. Maybe I'll return another time. Until then, I wished everyone well and moved on."

Inspired by classic MMOs of yesteryear, SpiritVale aims to bring back that missing spark in the genre. While I foresee a bright future for its highly dedicated, one-person dev team, I can't in good conscience recommend the game in its current Early Access state. As with most MMO launches, the entry into Early Access was rough, and the game is still struggling with widespread issues. Yes, server load exceeded expectations, which is understandable and not the main driver of this review, but those opening weeks are critical, and this title simply fell short. Between rollbacks, loot bugs, a disabled auction house, and frequent crashes, nearly every system needs some kind of attention. With such a passionate community and developer, I have confidence it will get there over time, but right now is simply not the time.

Is the game decent? yes, is it something I see myself putting much more time into for now? no, reasons? I often find myself asking 1 question over and over again as I am trying different classes in the game, "but why?" Ultimately, playing this game makes me want to play POE2 again, probably because how flat and boring the progression feels, no proper scaling, nothing to look forward to. I am writing this review after advancing my 5th class, the rogue, in search for something fun, but the only thing I felt compelled to do after reading through the skills, was to close the game and write this review. 1. - most of the classes seem over-nerfed, feels like this game fallen victim to the usual mentality of: "class is too good? let's nerf it to the ground!", "the other classes are now way better than the class we just nerfed to the ground? let's nerf the others too!", so basically everything is nerfed to the ground instead of buffed up to be on even playing field, making it to where none of the classes feel enjoyable and you always feel like struggling, basically forcing players into 1 or 2 builds per class to even have fun, completely killing the build variety. 2. - The EXP gain and the power scaling feel too slow/too little, making it to where you can spend hours farming exp and gear and feel almost no power difference 3. - The bosses are all the same, just with different health bars. yes, they have different abilities, but those are still just reskins of the same ability with now a different damage type, instead of fire, it's ice etc., there nothing unique about them 4. - The gear, the affixes and other stat scaling features are very flat, for example, and axe can have all of the same affixes as a staff, only difference is the main damage type, the affixes do not scale with level, an item level 1 can have all the same affixes as an item you obtain at level 100, there's zero scaling to those 5. - There's a cap on how many attribute points (STR,VIT, etc.), you can put into a certain attribute...
I had 1200+ hours on playtest phase and was also a tester for the game for a little bit. Even though at the time the community seemed very nice, coming in contact with the behind the scenes ruined the game for me. Not only were most of the discussions, suggestions and criticism from the playerbase almost entirely dismissed by most of the team, but the community was also mocked and ridiculed as cry babies in the testers hidden channel on discord. And in my opinion, unfairly so. For instance: a very good player informed me there was a broken shinobi build with status duration that would make you essentialy immortal. After bringing it to the attention of some people in the balance team, it was promptly dismissed. Only after I insisted on it they actually tested the interaction, to then pride themselves on discovering it on their own and being good at the game for finding broken builds. lol. But that's not all. Someone who played with me was also in the testers team, and they lacked some of the best items. So a GM just gave them a generated boss gem (one of the most valuable items at the time) in the LIVE server, which could impact the market directly and in which players would have to grind a ton of hours to obtain. That led me to believe this wasn't the only instance of this happening, but the only instance which I actually knew for sure. I then lost my passion and quit. Afterwards, someone who I enjoyed playing with invited me back to try the EA version, and I was even more disappointed. The community grew to be more toxic (even moderators themselves who behave very unprofessionaly - ironically one of the same guys I knew provided genned items on live servers), but the game was extremely buggy and RMT was running rampant. I tried looking past it, but then, after an issue where the servers were crashing constantly, I lost my entire gear set due to rollbacks caused by these crashes. I created a ticket, waited for an answer on it for 3 days, and it was just erased with no answer, which prompted me to write this review. I know that the dev cares a lot, and the game can be fun, don't get me wrong. But if you buy this game expecting it to be like a normal purchase where you can actually play mostly unaffected by bugs and lack of professionalism from the people managing it (in case you decide to interact or even if you need help like I needed with the afore mentione bug), you're gonna get frustrated.
the arrogance of these devs, mods and GMs. you have a 20k player game and declining, dont act as if you are high and mighty. once aion 2 and gw3 are out, this game will be dead. STAY AWAY and spend money somewhere else.
SpiritVale may be a simple MMORPG reminiscent of Ragnarok and early 2000s MMORPGs in general, but it's itemization and build variety within those simple systems really set it apart for me. Every item and set has their uses, some pieces you will find at level 20 and keep until endgame (or beyond), simply because they come with buffs that are that useful, like being able to move while casting spells. It makes roaming the many maps this game has so far to find gear extremely rewarding, as you might come across your next breaking point on a whim. Every map also has a gear vendor, where you can trade in random material drops from that map for the exact piece you're looking for, it's a form of bad luck protection I really appreciate. There's also a plethora of upgrade systems that let you take pieces of gear far beyond their usual expiration date in other games. The classes I've tried thus far are all a blast and will work how you expect them to, while still having some surprises for you to explore and build around if you so choose. At it's core this game really is just killing monsters en masse until your numbers get higher so you can move on to somewhere else and do it again/more efficiently. Nothing crazy, but deeply relaxing. Server issues due to high popularity aside, SpirtiVale is a really good €15 to spend if you're looking to enjoy a robust levelling and gearing experience like games of old, without any lockouts or other limiting factors getting in your way. Speaking of servers, your characters aren't tied to any region, you can connect to any region with any character you've made, which is a great feature for people that have many friends across many timezones.
DO NOT RECOMMEND Absolutely ridiculous and extremely frustrating. My son was playing Spirit Vale legitimately on a ROG Ally and his account was suddenly banned for allegedly using a bot. HE WAS NOT USING A BOT. He was sitting there actually playing the game himself. How can you ban a legitimate player for botting when there was no bot being used at all? My son spent a lot of time playing and progressing in this game, and now all of that is gone because he was accused of something he never did. There needs to be an actual investigation and a fair appeal process instead of simply banning someone's account and leaving them with no real explanation. If a player is legitimately playing the game on a handheld device like a ROG Ally, they should not have to worry about randomly losing their account because they're being accused of botting. This is extremely disappointing. My son did nothing wrong. He was playing the game manually. Developers, please actually review the account and explain what supposedly triggered this ban instead of just labeling a legitimate player as a bot. False bans are unacceptable. Fix this and give legitimate players a fair chance to appeal. ❌ Cannot recommend Spirit Vale because of this experience.
