Really enjoy brotato, but this is a boring slog. Sure, there are 100+ items, but most runs take ages before you really start collecting enough items to feel an impact. I really dont have any damning criticism, the runs are just slow and boring. Items are sparse, so the game is heavily dependent on you finding the core combat fun, and its just... okay? I like hollow knight, I wouldn't play it just for the combat if you removed everything else
very slept on, definitely worth it play this game
This game is like Nuclear Thone, Binding of Isaac, and Hollow Knight having a baby, and since those are 3 of my favorite games ever made, recommending this is a no-brainer. Each character feels completely different than each other, the item unlocks have a huge risk/reward factor, and the controls are buttery smooth. You start with a dash with i-frames and double jump, and both are incredibly useful here. Even with the "easy" characters, the game is still really hard and with the "hard" characters, good luck! This game really deserves to be in the roguelite hall of fame due to its replayability and fun factor, but for some reason it never caught on. I played it a ton on PS4, and tried to play the mobile version (but it just didn't feel good there), and after dozens of hours, I was only able to get through the 2nd of the 5 difficulties for most of the characters.
oMG I played this game soo much... nice balance!
Actual goat of game and creator. I hope blobfish drops another banger like this one
I AM THE POTATO< this game seems underrated in comparison to BROTATO but i love it less the more i play because you just level up so slow it isn't worth the grind, great game but needs a revisit from the devs to update and rebalance
Whacky roguelite that isn't afraid to be goofy and hardcore at the same time. Enjoyable
I wish Steam had a numerical review system, because although I ultimately wouldn't recommend Space Gladiators, it's only just off a good review. The roguelike formula is tight and the items are genuinely impactful whilst enhancing the gameplay. The level design seems good enough and the wealth of content in the game seems a good proposition for anyone looking for a platformer roguelike to sink their teeth into. For me, the visual clutter in the later levels meant gameplay was reduced to button mashing. The art is not for me, and the gameplay overall was a little hollow. I enjoyed my time enough with it to get the win, but not to look into other characters or continued playthroughs.
