This game is buggy even before the tutorial finishes. I can only attack in one direction, and restarting the game doesn't fix it either.

Soulknight Survivor, developed and published by SE Development, is an ambitious top-down action roguelite that blends fast survival combat with RPG progression, crafting, and light settlement-building systems. At first glance it may resemble other arena-based survival titles, but the game quickly distinguishes itself through its stamina-driven combat, extended map-based runs, and the integration of long-term character development tied directly to the souls you collect from fallen enemies. The result is a game built around a continuous loop of battling, gathering, forging, and upgrading—where each run feeds directly into your growing strength as the would-be Soulknight. The core gameplay revolves around surviving thirty-minute gauntlets across several distinct maps, each filled with enemies that grow more dangerous as the clock ticks forward. Unlike passive “auto-attack” survivor-style games, Soulknight Survivor demands hands-on input: every attack, sprint, block, and dodge consumes stamina, turning combat into a deliberate dance rather than a simple barrage of abilities. This system forces players to strike a balance between aggression and restraint, rewarding those who learn enemy patterns and understand when to conserve energy for crucial moments. Your directional attacks and evasive maneuvers must be timed carefully, and as the intensity ramps up, survival becomes a test of both awareness and endurance. Progression is tied deeply to the essence of defeated foes. Each enemy releases souls that can be used to unlock temporary abilities during a run or invested back in your overall character progression. This dual-purpose resource encourages players to push themselves, as maximizing soul collection leads directly to unlocking permanent upgrades such as increased stamina regeneration, higher health pools, and stronger attack attributes. The sense of power gain between runs is tangible, offering a motivating rhythm of incremental improvement that makes failed attempts feel less punishing and more like stepping stones toward mastery. Outside of combat, the game’s crafting and gathering systems add another layer of depth. During missions, players chop trees, mine stone, and gather materials that can later be used at the forge to craft better weapons and armor. Equipment is procedurally generated, meaning each piece you acquire may have different stats or bonuses, making the crafting system feel fresh and encouraging experimentation. Your home base acts as a central hub where improvements can be made to storage, crafting efficiency, and other amenities, creating a satisfying relationship between the frantic action of missions and the quiet progress of settlement growth. This adds a sense of permanence to your journey, as the equipment and upgrades you develop persist across all future runs. The overall visual identity of Soulknight Survivor leans into colorful retro-styled pixel art. While not groundbreaking, the charm of its aesthetic fits well with the constant movement and quick decision-making required in combat. Enemy types are readable at a glance, environments are clear and functional, and the UI supports rather than obstructs the action. The game’s atmosphere is complemented by energetic sound effects and music that reinforce the sense of escalating danger. It succeeds in creating a world that feels alive and dangerous without overwhelming the senses. Reception to Soulknight Survivor has been mixed, and this reflects the game’s ambitious design as much as its execution. Many players appreciate the blend of survival combat with RPG-style progression and crafting, particularly the challenge of stamina-based fighting and the satisfaction of upgrading your character over time. However, others note that pacing can feel inconsistent, with certain maps or difficulties demanding heavy grinding before progress feels achievable. Some balancing issues and occasional technical hiccups have also been reported, suggesting that the game’s depth sometimes comes at the cost of smoothness or polish. Still, for players who enjoy systems-heavy roguelites that reward repeated runs and strategic planning, these rough edges do not overshadow the core appeal. Taken as a whole, Soulknight Survivor is an engaging and layered action roguelite with a strong foundation. Its stamina-driven combat sets it apart from more automated survival games, while its mix of crafting, exploration, and permanent progression gives it staying power beyond the initial novelty. It may require patience to uncover its strongest qualities, but those who invest the time will find a challenging, addictive experience that rewards tactical thinking as much as raw reflexes. The game stands as a promising entry in the survival-roguelite genre—imperfect but filled with ambition, personality, and a rewarding sense of long-term growth. Rating: 5/10
Fun and addictive
Played the demo and enjoyed it. Playing the main game, first impressions are good. Enjoying it. If you want a more hardcore version of mobile games like Survivor.io this is it. More depth and more skill required. Excellent fun.
Fun little bullet hell survivor, that tries to add some new takes to the genre. Could do with a bit more work, but all in all I recommend trying it out if you like the genre.
This is one of the times I wish I could give a maybe. For the price it is not bad at all. BUT the upgrades are a monumental grind for not much return. This game does not respect your time. If you like really grindy games for minimal returns this is for you. But if you are looking for a bit more reward for you time give this a miss. Cheers to the dev for a not bad game but also not really good also. Cheers.
The games a nice timewaster, the levals are all 30mins long and can be a bit repeditive. Overall a nice intro for bullet hell games.
it's cute and it's fun, what more could you ask for
The Game is rather mediocre. There are too few skills. The enemies are way too strong at the beginning, but this should be changed with a patch. There is far too little to do all in one. There are many other "Survivor" games that offer more for the price. However, I hope that there will be more patches coming soon that will implement more into the game. Then I may also change my recession.
