Not "middle of the road", but a bit worse. It's kinda what you would expect from the steam page: A generic chinesse low-grade gacha game with generic graphics, horrible translation and mediocre gameplay. The story has some "interesting" points, I guess, but nothing you won't find better executed elsewhere. If you, like me, like playing these kind of games in search of hidden gems or diamonds in the rough, give it a try. Otherwise, don't waste your time
how...? just seriously, HOWWW did they think this game was any good to come out as a finished product??? the scenes are so jarring, half the game doesnt have sound effects. what are we doing here??? DO PEOPLE ACTUALLY take this slop seriously??

I do not recommend this game. 1-PvP is P2W. 2-Without a VPN, it doesn't register on EU servers. 3-The support is simply incompetent: they can't explain things normally and take more than a day to reply. And if they wrote to you and you replied literally a minute later, you have to wait a day for an answer again. Don't waste your time.
Downloaded and was going to give it an honest try went to play and got hit with "Internet connection low" or some shi bruh i have 1 gig up and down waste of time.
Had to delete the game, it has potential but there are some bugs that just annoyed me a little too much, cutscenes not playing, the voice only being in chinese, most annoying one of all is that putting the voice sound in settings to 0 doesn't work at all. Solid idea, bad execution, there are plenty of games like these out there, also free, i would recommend any of them over this one.
Everything requires purchases, its a huge turn off. I can easily afford them though.
Can someone please explain how this is a mmorpg? It's a singleplayer game with a chat from what I've experienced. Maybe if I played more, more co-operative features would unlock? But playing with like 4 or 5 more people in a group still doesnt make it an mmo. I'm not interested in PvP or pay to win but this game does have both and its gacha. I have read alot that the combat is delayed but for me its been very responsive and its probably because its a singleplayer world (so its expected to be) The combat does feel cheap though, not quite sure how to explain it but even with nice skill and attack animations, its giving off cheap mobile combat vibes without much impact. I've also had issues with the camera having a mind of its own and being focused on an enemy im not even locked onto. The game does feature auto combat but you're not forced into using it and it will unlock early in the story. The dodging is probably what feels the worst to me. It does have a perfect dodging mechanic where a successful dodge makes you dodge in slow motion like in Wuwa but I have no idea when the correct timings are so it feels off. Also, I dislike how enemy attacks can cancel your skills and put them on a cooldown when the skill wasnt even actually activated yet. There is no character creation, just male or female options and you get to name your character at some point. Im still yet to experience why the games open world exists, I mean most of the quests just teleport you from point A to B and none of the quests I've done is to explore the open world. The running is also extremely slow and uses stamina so that also puts me off from exploring the open world (not sure if mounts are an option at a later point in the game) While the world is pretty, it seems baron, some enemies here and there, some gatherable flowers and some chests. I've not seen side quests yet. I've done 1 puzzle which was to light 3 beacons and there was no challenge at all as if no thought went into it. I barely have any hours in this game and I dont think I will be playing anymore. I expected an MMO but got a singleplayer game with not much depth or need for exploration. I'm just out here looking for a new MMO to play so I decided to give this one a go. Its not my cup of tea. Give it a go if you like these kind of games. Dont if you're expecting an mmo to play with friends. Because I havn't spent a fair amount of hours on the game to give a more detailed review, I do wish I could give a neutral review thats neither recommended or not. My sole reason for a negative review is that the game calls itself an mmo when all I have experienced is a singleplayer game.
i read the novels. started the game just because i seen a new free game before i even realized it was soul land. i played a female character for 10 mins before i switched servers to try the male and i played maybe half an hour. this is another game that takes away all your choices and locks you into the story without any deviation. i only made it to level 16 before i rage quit. no character customization. no choice on what your spirits are. no sprinting. the jumps look comical. and they call spirit beasts spirimon?!? no idea what the hell is going on there. i do NOT RECOMEND!
it's 5+ hours before you can create a sect. if you have friends on any server except the exact server and shard you are on you can not play with them. moving servers is a character reset. the tutorial is too long and most of that time is click to progress cutscenes. Over monetisation. Overall mediocre game
