Initially, the game sounded amazing. Sort away plastic ducks with the usual formulaic upgrade pattern, gives me something to do for a few hours for a low price tag; however, upon entering the game, I hit a huge problem: the assets. Among them are multiple racist caricatures of cultures including names such as "Chief Feather" (sticking a duck in a ceremonial headdress with a peace pipe, classy), "Snake Charmer" (dressed with a white turban and all), and "African Warrior" (wooden shield with an appropriated, probably not even real tribal graphic, and spear with beads and a diagonal red cloth) to name the few that completely put me off from playing any longer. While I cannot substantiate the AI claims (I couldn't bear to play very long due to the above reason), it would not surprise me and, if true, is incredibly shameful of the developer to use. I wish I would have played on purchase to be able to get a refund, but now I have to live with having put $6 in a racist (and possibly pro-GenAI) sorting game :/

Undisclosed AI + racist assets. It's 2026, you don't need to be making garbage that stereotypes indigenous people it's weird.
I strongly suspect that this game uses AI-generated 3D models without disclosing it on the Steam page. Several duck models show weird artifacting, warped/melted geometry, and strange texturing that are characteristic of AI-generated assets.
So, I only bought this game because it's kinda cute AND for the running joke in the office. Which you lot don't know about. So, I'm now going to tell you. Story time! I work in Norway. At this one kinda special place that is it's own little universe. We have this thing here called "dukking". It means "going home early, but still getting paid". By tradition, the one most interested in / skilled at the "dukking" is called "DukkeKongen". That is Roger. We also have this thing where we, most of the day, for no reason, speak English. Badly. On purpose. Some of you have like as not already understood where I am going by now. I said one time that Roger is "The King of the Dukks". And since then we have added King of the Dukks stickers and tiny plastic ducks and whatnot in the office. I was at work the other night, browsing Steam when I found this game about rubber ducks. In a room full of rubber ducks. I simply had to buy it. That's the story. The end. (actually, game is kinda fun. I enjoy sorting things)
It's an entertaining cozy game like all of the other "sort things on shelves" type of games. For the must part, the ducks are quite cute. It's unfortunate they use the generic terms "Native" and "African" to describe the warriors. It would be better to pick a specific nation in those situations. Say Lenape or Comanche or Zulu Warrior, get more specific. Celebrate the cultural diversity instead of lumping all Indigenous into one group. They don't just have "European" Warrior, they specify regional differences. Devs need to be more sensitive about pushing these stereotypes when it comes to Indigenous and African peoples.
I cannot recommend this because of the racist assets that were included-there were SO MANY altnerative options that could have been chosen, including cateogries that were not included, a wider variety of foods and animals, etc. I'm not a fan of the fact that each type takes up two shelves, too, so you're getting about half the expected duck 'art to enjoy. I say art losely, because the assets are straightforward and I do anticipate AI was used and not disclosed in this game. I think if humans had made this start to finish I'd be a little more forgiving of the polish, but with thousands of ideas for asset creation, there was just no need for the blatant racism and lack of diversity. I did appreciate the
extra 2000 ducks at the end, I chose my favourite based on a friend that passed away recently since the game didn't have any of my favourite foods/animals/jobs/etc included, and it was nice to get a swarm of reminders of him
in a way that is entirely unrelated to the game. Simultaneously, in order to 100% acheivements on this, you need to do it all over again with NONE of the assistive sorting tools - no thank you.
If you really love the "tidy up" genre, then I recommend this game for its cute design of ducks; I think it's one of the better game among the newly emerged genre. HOWEVER, this game is still closer to a slop than it is closer to the standard (Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!). There's no music despite having a slider for music volume (perhaps my own problem), the UI of settings menu is genuinely bad and looks like it's a mobile game 10 years ago. Some ducks are shelved in places that doesn't make sense, shelves with a similar theme not put together (how is farm not next to food/fruits?). The starting phase is annoyingly slow; you start carrying capacity of 5 items. I've said what makes this game bad for me, now here's things that make it not meeting the standard: - A good chunk of satisfaction from Librarian game came from being able to put each item on shelf, one by one, with correct order; the complexity also makes the use of abilities feels enjoyable. There are games in which this becomes impossible, as items are of irregular shape (with no order numbering too) and can only be shelved by clicking a single button. This makes me disappointed that I can shelve them one by one in this game, despite all ducks share the same geometry. - The developers of these sloppy games seem to forget that the entire tidy up games genre consists of really simple mechanism, and is often very very repetitive. Yes, that's what we players ask for, but that doesn't mean we care no details. There are literally 3 places where you could enhance it: item design, item names, and store ("library") design. You nailed the first one, but kinda forgot the other two. The store is too generic; if you take away all the ducks, the store design is too bland and could literally sell anything. Two smaller issues: -- Ideas for ducks seem to run out, and they just slap in two colors of the same design, like green or purple alien ducks. There's no way you can't be more creative than this? -- Store space is too small. There are over 4000 ducks, but the space feels smaller than a library with 3000 books. Honestly, I couldn't imagine how I spot so many issues with a playtime of 40 minutes. A final comment for people who are searching for librarian-inspired games: Don't do it now; an indie game should take more than months to make and polish, so any of those games released this game is very likely to be sloppy.
Played for the first time yesterday for just over 2 hours, put away over 1000 ducks and had completed almost 100 shelves, pressed save to ocme back to later, and when i booted the game up this moring... gone For whatever reason my game just didnt save and apparently i only put 47 away. I had all my abilities that I purchased but all my time and effort wasted. Surely theres some way this can be fixed.
Should be called GET YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW. Jokes aside, this game works perfect on Deck. Reminds me a lot of Supermarket Chaos, but with a soul and collision physics (thank GOD!). A solid purchase on the cheap will you not regret if you are into sorting games.
Asolutely obsessed with this game. finished it in less than 8 hours. lol. But a few things i think would help to make it perfection. 1, stacking the ducks from left to right instead of right to left. 2, having 1 shelf per duck type not two, this way you could have more duck designs.
