About
Snapshot Aquarium is an aquarium sim with skill-based photo challenges.
It's for people who love fish and aquascaping—but want something more engaging than just feeding (or selling) fish every day. It’s calm, but not idle: patience and timing matter.
Shoot with patience: the photo mechanics reward waiting for the right moment, clean focus, and species combos.
Build cozy habitats: keep your fish thriving and get a higher rank in the online gallery to draw more visitors.
Share & explore: publish your tank and visit creations from players around the world.
I've been tinkering on Snapshot Aquariumfor for over 10 years, and I’d love your support to keep adding features for many more. This is a calm, craft-at-your-pace project—built to grow with the community.

A first look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5CzEV568B8 Just played out all the easy challenges, which I prefer to stick with as the rest for me personally feels to challenging (lack of my own skills) and I had a blast. I also think it's awesome I can redo the easy ones, to still collect items and some moneys - aka the game isn't forcing me to go to the harder stuff! This makes it cozy and chill for me. So far I mostly invested in getting fishies so I don't have a glamurous picture of my cutequarium (see what I did there!) just yet. So for now have this silly picture of a fishie that just took a turn as I was about to snap it making it look silly (and I love it). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3638861988 And it's nice it's still being worked on, the developer is very kind when you bring in some feedback and does his best to fix/improve it. Mine was the help I have a dual screen and my mouse goes to the other screen one, and it's fixed which makes the game even better (for me) now! Yayness. You can tell he really loves his game and wants to make it into the bestest best version for all of us games. And I absolutely love that! Best aquarium game! Needs SHRIMP!!
Absolute nobrainer for all cozy game/fish/aquarium lovers. The graphic is really beautiful and the gameplay is robust. Works like a charm on my steamdeck. Hidden gem!
Wer spielen will sollte spielen dafür seine Errungenschaften bekommen. Andere mögen es lediglich FREI gestalten, still betrachten. Sorry. Geld läuft nach.. Zeit davon)
This absolutely scratches that “virtual aquarium” itch some of us may get from time to time. I only have two complaints: Pressing ESC while in a menu brings up the system menu instead of backing out. As far as I can tell, the only way to back out of a menu is to click the “X” button. Also, I feel that challenge rewards could be increased quite a bit. The easy challenges pay less than $100 and the hardest pay around $230. With some fish costing $1000+ (and multiple aquariums to fill) it feels a bit grindy for what is supposed to be a relaxing aquarium game.
Tranquil game combining the art of photography with the ability to design your very own fish tank. You earn points through challenges, which you can use to add to your fish tank, however it is a slow grind to earn enough points, so expect to have to complete a lot of challenges to gradually add to your tank. Completing more difficult challenges will earn you more points than easier challenges. The challenges involve three types of photography games where you have limited shots to take of the fish. Completing challenges also unlocks more items or fish to add to your fish tank. The game is not difficult to learn, and it has a tutorial to show you the ropes. It's also somewhat educational, were you can learn . Not a bad price for the content, however a free demo version exists to try the game out first to see if it feels right for you. Themes: Religious symbols, such as Buddha statues, exist as cosmetic objects inside fish tanks. It is your choice to add these into your own fish tank, and they exist in certain challenges you play through. Artwork of an oriental dragon can be chosen as a background behind the fish tank. Your fish can't die or be harmed, but you can feed them or tap on the glass to interact with them. *** ~ House Blythe, curator for Non-violent Entertainment: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35899705/
▶️ Gameplay
https://youtu.be/PK9-5iOMo3s
👍 Pros
+ Easy to understand photography mechanics (even has auto-focus). + Cozy collectathon concept. + The overall game environment (e.g. fish, tank) is really nice, very calming. + Good as an idle game and perfect for a live wallpaper concept. + The instructions for photography are clear and easy to understand and follow. + I only tried the easy challenges, and they were quite straightforward
❗Cons
- The controls can be a bit confusing especially if you have to chase fish that swim very fast/erratically - The UI for the menu etc is is not very intuitive or aesthetic
🤔 Conclusion
This would be a great game if you like having fish as pets but don't have time/space to do so! I love the photography FPS mechanics, but I don't really enjoy management-style games so I'm not sure how replayable this is for me. Still, I recommend it because I see potential in it as an educational game and even as a live wallpaper. ˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆. . ˚ ✭ * ✦ . . ✦ ˚ ˚ .˚ ✭ . . ˚ . ✦ ⸜(˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ )⸝ `✮´ Hi, I'm Syn and I stream and review cozy indie games! ✍🏻 My other game reviews (curator page): https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44046812/ 🎮 Watch me game (and occasionally do other stuff) here: http://twitch.tv/st_synna ▶️ See my VODs here: http://youtube.com/@st_synna Cheers and have a lovely day!
Quirky fishes, lots of content. Made me want to start an aquarium. 10/10
Super concept! Looks very realistic too. Very relaxing to play!
